yet more hassles... I'm trying to fill in the DS-156, and have come to the part that asks for my 'National Identification Number (if applicable)'

IS this applicable? is it my National Insurance Number? even though I have one, should I fill it in, as I'm not from the UK? or don't they care about that? should I leave it blank?

We wrote "N/a" and it was fine.

Just put 'NONE' unless you have an American NIN. I put none as i don't have a NIN, I do have a British National Insurance Number but don't think that counts.
