Phil is flying in for a 6 day visit. I can't wait to pick him up at the airport and see his wonderful face! We will be celebrating our NOA2 together.
He has a letter in hand from his company stating that he is here on business and is schedule to be back to work on February 20th. I thought that was an awesome thing for them to do considering Phil is retiring on February 29th.

Haha - you're in LA? I'm in Banning just a couple hours away right now - if you didn't mind it being late I could have taken it back to Bristol for you

How funny is that?!

Audrey you must be so excited!! And I know what you mean about the letter! My wedding planner wrote us one saying that we could postpone the ceremony and things dependent on visa even though we aren't going to do that, just so if anyone questions the initial contract we cleverly sent in as evidence with the I-129f(!) then we have something to say it all changed. As it is we are getting married by the same people legally in AUgust anyway but still

Does anyone else get this...
Thankfully we're here in London together now, but before that, we were doing the long distance thing for ages, and well, everytime we'd meet up after being apart for a while, there's be a day or two, or maybe even just a few hours where I sort of couldn't reconcile the person in the flesh with the person i'd been speaking to and messaging constantly. Don't know what it was. It just always took a while for me to readjust to what it was like to be physically together rather than on the phone or messenger.
All the talk of reunions just got me thinking.
i understand what you mean...for me it's so hard to believe that he's actually here! and i have to drive the 2 1/2 hours home from the airport...he's usually tired..and i'm concentrating on the road...usually it's kind of a quiet ride while we just get used to being on the same side of the drink! ...yeah, i understand what you mean.

I used to get like this, even after we lived together for 6 years and then did the distance thing. The first few days it would take some time to adjust and then by the end of the trip, it was so hard to leave again to go back into "distance mode".

I am so excited, all my boxes are now packed, in fact I'm ready to move tomorrow if I could.
I phone my landlord this week to give my notice, then have a big list of numbers to phone to cancel insurances, sort out electric, gas, phone, council tax, etc.
I'm just itching to go now!!!!

I really can't believe the amount of junk I had.
My friend has been popping in at least once a week, her mum is in the WI and collects stuff for jumble sales, she has taken at least one big box of junk (clothing, shoes, ornaments, electrical stuff, etc) every week for the past month or so, and I still have 19 boxes to ship of varying sizes, some things I cant bare to part with
Anyway, the boxes are ready to ship, anything else I either fit in my cases or carry on or else I leave them behind, no other options!!!!!

my mission is to fit my life into my 2 suitcases and my cabin trolleycase. Other than that I have 2 boxes of things I can't part with. Other stuff that I can live without but don't want to get rid of is going to live with my parents. The rest is getting carbooted or ebayed in 2 weeks!
on another note - something else done...one way travel insurance sorted for flights and baggage. £16 from post office.

Its been a glorious 45 f (around7C) here today, lovely and warm, sun shining and no wind.
However it's 2 f (-16C) in La Crosse where I move in a months time, I hope the temperatures rise a bit before I move. I know I will have to get used to such low temperatures but a gentle break would be nice

Hope all goes well on Saturday Julez! It's so exciting that Aly is getting married today too. I had to double-take a bit whilst reading this thread and the interview thread. Can you believe that we are all finally getting towards the end of the K1 process? It doesn't seem so long (now the larger waiting period is over) since we all filed 7 months ago

Griff's not liking the cold either! He keeps saying he likes Buffalo better in the summer time. I can't blame him! Plus, they canceled school here today due to the bitter cold wind chills, so he's stuck at home with 2 of my 3 kids! The oldest was dispatched to his uncle's house. Aside from some difficulty with making homemade pizza, things seem to be going well! Bedt thing you can do in this weather is stay inside!!
Keep warm everyone!!

The sun makes an appearance in Scotland! Shock horror!
Actually, as a kid my parents took us to Scotland for our Summer holiday more often than not. I do remember the rain and the midgies but I have fantastic memories of Scotland. I even think I recall the sun shining

. I especially love the west coast. It really is one of the most beautiful places on earth.
I'm currently trying to get my embassy forms ready in advance of receiving Packet 3 (since CSC have still not forwarded our petition to NVC). Anyway, I want to try and make up for lost time (as much as possible) by being ready to send it back the day it arrives. Is there any detailed instructions/advice anywhere on filling out these forms? I'm currently filling out DS-156 and need some advice on some aspects of the form.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

the hint with midges is eat stuff with yeast in it (real beer, marmite, doughy bread) around 24 hours before...you sweat it out through skin pores and midges hate it. Although you can't smell it they can and they will leave you alone. I also spray all my clothes with citronella.
