Only 5? Amateur!

Having said that, I recall that, being American/Western women, we are apparently anatomically correct for pushing puppies out without even noticing (cf. the vibrator thread the other week.)

Of course, that is if we notice them being born in the first place whistling.gif

Maven, will you be finished your paper by Sunday, could we do an LA shindig then? How is that for the other Ladies?

There aren't any late fees yet - we just need to pay them asap - he "forgot" this one as well as the gas which means we have accrued over $300 in bills over the last two days that he told me he had paid...

He said he is going to pay the electric when he gets home - I've managed to pick up a little calendar at the dollar store and am writing down how much we owe to whom on the days it is all due by - at least then I can keep track of it and nag remind him that things need to be paid... I mean - how can you *forget* to pay two bills over $100 each?! I can understand maybe one slipping your mind but two!?!?!
elmcitymaven
It's not forgetting; it's avoidance. I should know, as I am guilty of it myself on a regular basis.

One more section left peeps! All I have to do is the FAQs, then I can submit the draft. Rest of the weekend I can finish the biblio, appendices, etc. kicking.gif

That sounds good, Aly. I put my bills in an organizer with a date of 5 days prior to the actual due date so I'm never late.
Jeraly
Yeah - I must say I have never had bills other than credit card etc but those I pay off in good time too so I just don't understand the head-in-the-sand attitude - I mean it is a *lovely* thought that they will all just go away, but let's face it - it's hardly likely wink.gif

No way. Beer only this time. No hard liquor I might allow wine, we'll see, and food. Thems the rules!!

LOL

Yes, beer, wine OR sangria (as the old Beefsteak Charlie's ads used to say). For those of us making a sojourn tomorrow night for wine and 90s tunes in Atwater Village, the hostess has asked if we could bring a bottle and some nibbles.

The student loan people have been harassing me. Not the government loan ppl but I had to take out a couple private loans earlier in my college career due to the government not giving me enough $$ to cover all my expenses. I'm finally able to make my payments this month...but for the past couple the one company was calling me up to 5 times a day. They finally laid off when I yelled at one of their reps that "you can't get blood out of a turnip." Hopefully they don't think I look like a turnip mad.gif

Reminds me of my days at university. I wrote my draft of my senior thesis (20 pages) in one red bulled fueled night. Started at 6 pm the night before and it was due at 8 am the next morning on blackboard. I think I got it submitted at 7:58 am...just in the nick of time!

Mags - there are places where Dev likes to come and chat and not have an inevitable pileup that occurs as it does in political threads in off topic. Since you and your husband can go and post whatever you like about her in your little sandbox with no ramifications, you should at least respect that, especially since people here know the real Dev and not the one that you and your gang have portrayed there. thanks.

How does he know about certain things though? Certain mod decisions? Complaints she has made about him (which seem pretty justified)?

Intelligence has nothing to do with it, although insulting people's intelligence who do not agree with you seems to be the MO in your household. Maybe that's what you do when the argument fails.

Just spare your faux outrage here and the "lack of respect."

And yes, guitar hero is fun. I won't buy a games console because I waste away too much of my time. Though I am VERY tempted to get a Wii.

Hey! I was just getting into Barracuda....

Firstly, I wasn't insulting anyone's intelligence. If you wish to construe my comment as saying that, then that's up to you!

Secondly, I really don't share mod decisions with him - nor is he with me when I make or hear about mod decisions. Have you thought that perhaps if Dev reports Platy that Ewok follows up on it with Platy himself?

And there is no faux outrage here - just me speaking my mind and my OWN point of view.

Now really, I'm going off to play Barracuda. I think I'll be Nancy though, the other one was a little porky!

I've tried to get back into knitting - my grandmother tried to teach me back in the day and I realized I'm just as terrible now as I am then. I wish I was good at that sort of thing. She made me some beautiful quilts with purple and yellow pansy. I'm not good at quilting either. Or baking bread! I guess I better keep my job - I'd make a terrible housewife.

Red Sox are my default team - nothing made me laugh more when they overwhelmed the Tigers with support when they unexpectedly took down the Yankees in the playoffs in 2006. Because all the New Yorkers were predicting a "subway series." Subway series my butt.

I could post a thread about Guitar Hero, which my son has gotten me addicted to btw! tongue.gif

Edit: I would like to credit people with more intelligence and NOT associate me with his posts though. You all have brains in here, surely it isn't hard to understand the concept of different computers, different rooms, posting at work etc and so on. wink.gif

P.S. Thank you and good morning doesn't have the same ring about it.

When you say "credit people with enough intelligence" they may come away that is what you are doing. Not that I have ever been insecure about my intelligence - I just think it's interesting (and amusing) when other people believe they are the smartest people in the room and other who don't "get" them and their POV are necessarily inferior in the IQ department.

Look - I don't appreciate you stoking the flames on this one. It's not very modlike. Dev's picture was so obscure it had to be explained to the regulars here. You didn't need to respond. But you did.

So... how 'bout that Angels/Mariners game last night?

Good idea!

I'm off to play guitar hero with my son.

Have fun, all!

Aww but I wanted to talk about marmite!! I dun do American sports yet - I didn't even know the above was baseball...

Saying that - I wasn't much into UK sport either apart from cricket (live and short matches - not test matches blink.gif ) and the odd spot of footie when England actually qualify whistling.gif

Over here I kinda like the look of basketball but everything else is beyond me...

I only understood cricket during the Ashes in 05 after nearly 10 years of living in the UK. Then I left the country.

I managed to get hubs into baseball during the '06 playoffs when we (Detroit) played the Yankees. I explained that I hated the Yankees with the same passion that he hates Man U. Everything clicked into place after that.

I really liked listening to Test Match Special while I did the tidying up -- it got me into that zen state that only "How It's Made" on Discovery and the Shipping Forecast have ever got me to.

Yeah, the Man U/Yankees analogy is apt. And you know there is no Yankees hater like a lifelong* Red Sox fan.

*Slightly untrue -- I pretended to be a Pittsburgh Pirates fan in 2nd grade because I had a crush on Danny Turbitt, who wore a satin Pirates baseball jacket. All too wrong, on so many levels.

what child of the 80s didn't have a crush on a boy who wore a satin jacket?

Sh*t girl the number 23 is still sacred in these parts. Remember when you had to have the Air Jordans in the early 90's? The Dream Team (half that team were Bull's players)? Remember...when the Bulls were good? crying.gif

Not a Lions fan eh? Are there any left in Detriot?
rkl57
I have never been a Lions fan, sadly. Although I do remember when Barry Sanders once gave us hope. I always kinda liked the Jordan-era Bulls more than the Pistons - it's hard for me to admit that but it's true tongue.gif

When I lived in Chicago I used to go to Wings-Blackhawks games wearing my Wings jersey. The abuse!
