Where did you find that? The cheapest I have been able to for October going the other way is like, $1000
Poiteen
Well my sister found it really. She was looking on cheaptickets.com yesterday, and found that when she put in the dates they wanted, it came up with the aerlingus + virgin combo as costing around $840 or something, but when she clicked on that itinerary, it says 'we found an even better deal for you: $475.

We could only book it for 2 people, so we took a risk and went ahead and booked it for 2 people, and then went back and booked another one, luckily we got that ticket at the same price. The flights were monday to Thursday, i think 19 days in total, don't know if that made any difference. I know that when I looked at the london - lax leg separately, there was nothing as cheap as the deal that they got.

It's crappy here today. Overcast, and the forcast is rain all week. Miami, here we come!

Poiteen
Flat is looking refreshingly empty - it got to a stage of cleared outness about yesterday afternoon, that I really liked. I wish I had got rid of loads of the clutter ages ago.

The boxes are off tomorrow...
SMB x2
Just got a text from SMS, visa arriving tomorrow! biggrin.gif

I don't have to deal with USCIS again until April 2010!!! good.gif

That's amazing news!! Three and a half months!! Wow!! Congratumalations!! biggrin.gif

I just booked tickets for my mum and dad and sister to come and visit in October. Got them a far better deal than I managed to get myself, they're paying $475 for a return from dublin to LAX via heathrow, on Virgin for the transatlantic leg. I'm jealous. And yes, you read that right, $ not £.

Wow - that is amazing!! My mum can only find like almost £600 for around Christmas or Easter. She's restricted to UK school holidays which might be the problem sad.gif

Hahaha - tell me about it!! We have the aircon on full blast most of the time here and last night I don't know what was up with it - I just couldn't cool down sad.gif It's supposed to hit 108 today but getting hotter throughout the week... I never thought I would be able to live in this kind of heat laughing.gif

In other news!! I have applied for my SSN as of yesterday and Jeremy and I also got a joint savings account and individual checking accounts with WaMu as BofA royally screwed us over ($300 in overdraft fees when he never even went overdrawn mad.gif we're taking it further... any suggestions welcome biggrin.gif ). It's nice because I feel like things are finally getting more "real" like I have a life here and it's not just a holiday. Cards (SSN and bank) should be here in about two weeks biggrin.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif

Thanks everybody. rose.gif

It's not our 'real' anni (that's the legal wedding 11/10) but a day to go out to dinner & raise a glass. The cool thing about today as well is that our nephew was born a year ago today! smile.gif
rkl57
Congrats on 4 years Dev! Where is that bar? It looks wonderful.

We celebrate various anniversaaries too, not just wedding - any excuse to raise a glass. Though we don't remember the exact day we met blush.gif
Jeraly
Aww - well I don't think I could tell you when we first met online, but first e-mail contact was 4th October... 2001 I think and first meeting in person was New Year's Eve 2005/6. But I am sure we will still celebrate when Jeremy comes home from work today (once we sort out our dire finances) just because we aren't bored of being together yet kicking.gif
*julez*
We always celebrate our meeting day, which was 16 Sept. 2004. i can't believe its nearly 4 years ago! And 5 months today that we were married! Time sure does fly.
Jeraly
Well it's only three weeks til we make our February wedding official biggrin.gif Then we can truly celebrate - three days after will be our six month anniversary biggrin.gif

4th October is my birthday. biggrin.gif
Poiteen
ours just passed, 14 july, Bastille day, and we were in New Orleans so it was cool.

Having a problem - although my shipping boxes are only going to the port, they need to have a destination address for the customs form, do you think I can put on a hotel address or something? I thought of this too late to call them today, and they're coming for the boxes tomorrow - anyone know? Or can think of an address that would be ok to use?
Jeraly
I know the shipping companies I checked with offer storage at the other end - you could do that for a day or two perhaps? Or arrange to have a storage locker and put that address? Or put a relative's address then change it when you move?
illumine
They just filmed our office for an into for an NBC show to air in 2 weeks.

I didn't even try but I'm right behind the speaker (center of the shot)! laughing.gif

Poiteen - Ask the hotel - if there a lot, I doubt it....
Poiteen
C's family is in Miami, so don't think that's such a good idea. I will call them in the morning, but i'm annoyed with myself for forgetting to sort out this before
rkl57
I think hotel address will be fine (is that where you are staying?). I put my temporary address and then told them to deliver to my permanent address when the stuff arrived at the port.
Poiteen
truth is i don't have a hotel address yet. Having been running around doing so many other things, i've been putting it off. So I would be booking one tonight just for the address.

Tried calling an old college friend that I know that lives in Venice, nobody home. Grrrr. Why did I not deal with this sooner.
The Red Baron
Is it friday yet? Good morning smile.gif
Poiteen
Morning all, time for coffee and toast. Boxes being picked up in an hour, and our cable, internet and phone being cut off soon too. So see you all in a few days!!
