Alex and Rachel biggrin.gif the MOB dress OMG biggrin.gif I canīt imagine any mother to wear those. Itīs so fancy and sugary and everything biggrin.gif Do you know how much fancier the brideīs dress would have to be if MOB was wearing these and the bride would like to stand out a little bit more? smile.gif

Haha, I hadn't thought of that...oh my, she'd have to wear something huuuuge! Now, where was that photo of the bride whose dress was so large she had difficulty fitting into the car - I imagine it'd have to look something like that! laughing.gif

Thank you, Kathy - I hope you have a very good weekend, too!
*julez*
Since we're talking wedding dresses, I'd like to offer an option for the brides to be. Since you're all in an international relationship, whether a US or UK citizen, this dress is a great way to show loyalty to the US!!

blink.gif That is quite the Patriotic dress. Maybe nice for a July 4th wedding?

I seriously cannot imagine ANY time when it would be appropriate to don that dress!!!

That would be what Stephen Colbert's wife would have worn to their wedding :-p

Before you know it, American flag lapel pins won't be enough to show you are patriotic! Now you'll have to have your wedding dress look like it was made by Betsey Ross!

Btw...as proud to be American as I am, in my experience most of the people I see who wear and US flag paraphenilia (ie jackets, t-shirts, do'rags) are kind of white trash-y. Not always, but it tends to be that way...try walking into a Wal-Mart on a weekend afternoon and see if you agree!

Well, the one thing I can say for the patriotic wedding dress is that it is a flattering cut! laughing.gif

And thank you for directing to my attention to uglydress.com - I'd seen that site before, but not before it was redesigned/updated! I love rediscovering old, amusing sites.

I'm sure no one here watches the country music network but I was flipping last night and came across this show:

http://www.cmt.com/shows/dyn/my-big-rednec...ng/series.jhtml

The one I saw there was pig wrestling where guests had a competition to put a t-shirt on a pig. The mind. It boggles.

Guys - if we were to have four stickied threads, which would you choose?

Am trying to figure out how to get the shipping thread stickied but four sticky threads is the max it seems! Ideas folks?

Only the OP can make the thread sticky. Unless you are admin.

Thanks for the insight. I am actually liaising with admin and was just trying to gauge opinion.

So thoughts?
Alex & Rachel
Hmm, could two threads be combined? Say, how to move your pets to the US and shipping in general?

If we were to drop one, I'd choose the medical thread as we don't have a similar stickied interview thread, and the OP is quite old.

One of my faves -- I have it on my Tivo! I love the camo-theme weddings, and the one where the woman posed naked on a horse for some cheesecake photos for her groom.
Jeraly
I dunno - I think that shipping and pets need to be separate but that is just mho wink.gif

I know what you mean about the medical sticky though - but it is still useful and used - would be nice for an interview one as well but guess people put reviews on their timelines anyway smile.gif

Of course Poiteen has offered *coughs* to make a new wiki page about the passport thread so maybe that could go?
Poiteen
well i've said it on the other thread but I think that the passport info might be better as a wiki entry (does anyone use the wiki?)

but that said, I always looks straight at the main threads, it always takes me ages to notice new posts in the stickied threads. Maybe it's just me star_smile.gif
Alex & Rachel
It's not just you; I spent ages wondering why a two-year-old thread was still stickied before I noticed people had replied recently to it!

I'm not implying in any way that animals or material goods are comparable - not at all! Was just thinking what could be combined. smile.gif Although thinking about it, a general 'FAQ' sticky that combines information that is unlikely to change anytime soon - such as, a how-to on how to renew your passport, where to download the new police certificate application form, and a link to the list of required vaccinations on the USCIS page might be best? I am happy to make a new thread. I know I come here for information first rather than the wiki.

IMO, the biggest questions in the UK forum since I've been here (2 years) - in this order:

medical
police certs
interview
banking
shipping
Jeraly
Poiteen - I do that too - but I have started looking at them more and I think there are people that do use them and that it would be nicer for them to have current info on regularly mentioned topics - shipping will change, as will rules and regs on pets and medical reviews are always happening so to me it seems the other two stickies are the way forward in terms of... Clearly I am missing out! I might have to start watching. I like watching Platinum Weddings on WE - it's like, how much money do you have to spend to make what would ostensibly be a classy wedding and make it completely tacky. A girl I work with was featured on it - hilarious.

I never used the Wiki because it wasn't available when we were filing but I've just had a look and I think it's great. The problem with the pinned threads (and this was my issue when I was filing), is that the information contained therein is disorganized and often hard to follow. Plus, some of the pinned threads are way too long to go through and find the information you are looking for. (pardon the bad grammar). Just my 2p.

Yeah, I'm another Platinum Weddings fan, sorry to say. In a similar vein, I loved that Manhattan Housewives show, and just found out that my friend is friends with that Alex on the show -- the tall, skinny blonde. Must...stop...posting... but!

I have developed an itinerary for our road trip to LA in 5 weeks! It goes like this:

June 27 -- New Haven, CT - Hagerstown, MD
June 28 -- Hagerstown - Knoxville, TN
June 29 -- Knoxville - Meridian, MS
June 30 -- Meridian - New Orleans (shorter trip so we can spend more time there!)
July 1 -- New Orleans - Galveston, TX (slightly out of the way to see my uncle Mike)
July 2 -- Galveston - Sonora, TX
July 3 -- Sonora - El Paso (grandma's there)
July 4 -- Another day in El Paso
July 5 -- El Paso - Tucson, AZ
July 6 -- Tucson - Palm Springs, CA (hi Jeraly!)
July 7 -- Palm Springs - Hollywood Econo Lodge!

Woo hoo! And subject to approval by the boy, of course.

Maybe a thread called UK FAQ, with links to wiki pages containing all the relavent info about the above? So it's easy to find, but can be put in a clear format and interlinked too

Yeah, we really wanted to cover no more than 400 miles a day, so some of the cities in the east are fudges at best. I also wanted to spend two days in El Paso to see my aged but sprightly 94-year-old grandmother -- she's never met Bruce, and I think it would be cool to be with family on the 4th.
