Ooh! I will cross fingers and hope that it is not bought before you are able to make a bid, then!

Thanks! We're going this weekend to have a thorough look at it! I wish there was a way we could manage the 2 mortgages, if only for a few months, but I just don't think its possible. Thankfully the market where we're looking isn't too brisk at the moment, but where I currently live the houses go pretty fast.

Do you live in Buffalo proper? My Dad's side all is from there....I fondly remember going to the Champion t-shirt outlet, Beef on Weck, Lackawanna, & Anchor Grill. And Crystal Beach!

I live in South Buffalo, which is actually in the city proper. I'm about a 3 minute drive from Lackawanna. The Champion T-shirt outlet is long gone, but was not far from where I live! Lol - I forgot about that place!!! Beef on weck is still so good. Though the Anchor Bar is the originator of the Buffalo chicken wing, the 911 Tavern is the perfector! Yum! And I still miss Crystal Beach (the amusement park), though we have rented cottages on the beach itself the last 2 years and have had a great time. For all its faults, Buffalo is still a pretty good place to live!

I say that, but the house we're looking at is in the village of Orchard Park. I want a better school district for the kids, so West Seneca or Orchard Park is where we plan to move.
Krikit
Do you have a link to the house, Julez? Some of those old Victorian homes in Buffalo are absolutely gorgeous. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you'll be able to get it.

My Mom loves beef on weck. I remember one time we were in Buffalo and she went to order it but it came out "Weck on a bun". We all looked at her like.... blink.gif .... including the waitress, then we burst out laughing. We still kid her about it to this day. laughing.gif

ohmy.gif Julez, that house is gorgeous!!!

Oh god, we sooooo need to move away from Maryland.... (Even though i'm not even there yet, lol) It is so flippin expensive! My Dad just bought a house recently. It's about the same size as that one and it cost $375,000 sad.gif

There is absolutely no chance of us buying a house in Maryland!

Oh and I keep forgetting to say... You will have to excuse my extreme blondness, the message I sent you a while back asking if you were enjoying the American dream etc.... I got meself a bit muddled and assumed it was you that had emigrated and not your husband... Sorry tongue.gif You must have thought I was a wee bit thick!

I am in heart.gif with this house! I love perennial gardens and this house just lends itself so well! Plus, the kitchen!!! OMG!

My sis lives just outside Baltimore and the houses there are soooooo overpriced! For $375,000 in my area you can get a gorgeous huge house with all the amenities.

Finally, I never thought you were thick! Its kind of confusing and easy to assume that the way the profiles are built here! We're all good! biggrin.gif

My husband was transferred from Maryland and the houses in his area were super cheap. We were both kinda ticked about that because we could have gotten a lot for our money there. You must be near Baltimore, Tasha?

Good biggrin.gif

Yup, my Dad lives in Baltimore County. It is a lovely house in the woods, but I know that the next state accross would be so much cheaper. I am going to have to do some serious research. I'm thinking West Virginia or North Carolina... Or even Pennsylvania...

And they've actually dropped the price now to $189,900! Super affordable for all you get. I guess that's one of the best things about living in this area - the housing surge never happened, so we never had the ensuing over-inflated housing price bubble to contend with.

Very nice Julez!

Dad grew up around West Seneca/Lackawanna - inbetween. Gosh, this thread has really hit home for me, I'm overwhelmed right now. Last time I went to Buffalo was 2003 & it was emotional to say the least. Most of his family is gone pretty much (including him)...but I do have many happy memories.

Mark and Hannah
Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things

Cream colored ponies and crisp apple streudels
Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
These are a few of my favorite things

Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Silver white winters that melt into springs
These are a few of my favorite things

When the dog bites
When the bee stings
When I'm feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don't feel so bad

Thanks guys!

The issue is my kids. I have 3 - 2 boys ages 13 & 10 and an 8 year old daughter. The boys are giving my husband a very rough go of things. They've had behavioral problems for years (and he knew this about them) but its really getting to my husband. I mean the stuff these boys do is pretty extreme and Griff can't stand it and is having a tough time coping. He bends over backwards to get along with them, but its just very rocky at the moment. I feel awful about it, cos the boys dont' listen to me. Griff is now convinced that my oldest son is trying to break up our marriage. And I just feel terrible. Things between the two of us are fine, but the kids are really taking their toll.

I know its the kids, the reality of life in the US and not working combined. But the focus is all on the kid stuff right now. I've had the kids in counseling, and the middle on still goes bi-weekly, but I just don't know what else to do.

So that's my sordid story. And why I feel so depressed today.
Krikit
Oh dear. Kid problems are tough. They have absolutely no idea of the havoc they create because they are so focussed on themselves at times. Can you have a heart-to-heart with them to let them know what they're doing and illustrate it in such a way that they can relate? I really feel for you, Julez. I really do. Hang in there. They don't stay forever. rose.gif rose.gif rose.gif
Alex & Rachel
Aw! No wonder you're upset - what a horrible and awkward position to be in.

I have no pearls of wisdom to offer but I hope that issues are resolved for you soon. heart.gif

Kitten hug!

*julez*
Thanks, Krikit. Thing is, I have tried talking to them. But they nod their little heads and go right back to the evil behavior. My daughter isn't really an issue and overall, she and Griff really get along well. She is a little sponge for the love he gives her and lavishes it back on him as well. My midddle son has had lots of problems with depression (I know, awful for his age) and Griff can (sort of) understand when that son has probelms. Its the newly turned 13 year old that is the problem. He's lazy, rude and disrespectful. And a bully. To pretty much everyone. He seems to be turning into his biological father, which is the worst case scenario.

And here I am in the middle of it. Cos despite all the problems, they are my kids and I love them. But I also love my husband. He's made so many sacrifices to come here to marry me and he doesn't deserve to be treated so awfully by my kids.

Sorry guys for being such a downer.

Julez, I know where you are coming from here. My son has ADHD and ODD, he can be deliberately annoying and it can be hard to bear sometimes. Me? I can block a lot of it out and let it wash over my head (I've had 14 years of it...lol). But Platy? He hasn't gotten to the "blocking" it out stage yet. wink.gif

*julez*
Thanks Mags. You're right, you do just get used to it and learn to 'block' a lot of the problems. Its the only way to cope with the extreme behaviors. I hope it will get easier for all of us in time.
Toshtishtash
