I think this as good a place as any to say:

Just arranged my medical and sent back my Packet 3!!! kicking.gif

there's no question so no need for a whole thread, but glad to finally get things moving towards the end. I figure maybe one day in June when the summer STILL hasn't arrived, if i have it in my passport already, i can just say to hell with it all, and go! laughing.gif
charles!
g'morning everyone.

Yay!!! I'm still waiting on mine as well - wouldn't it be cool if we got similar dates!?
weedebz
sorry folks but this is a cut and paste. Just want to catch up with everyone and not much time. On a mission to get Nick something to wear so he's not getting married in his birthday suit.

It's realy annoying not having internet so only get a few mins when I pop over to Nick's rent. I thought I'd just check in and say Hi to everyone. Would say I'm setlleing in but not really had chance. Been sorting out wedding stuff, ordered cake yesterday. Going to send out invites next week and get other stuff finalised. Only been here 2 weeks today but it really feels like longer. Going with Nick's mammy tomorrow whilst Nick at work to apply for SSN.

Take care all and I'll check in again when I get a chance.
*julez*
Hi debz!!! Its great to see you!! I have missed you, you ball of stress! Glad things are going well and you're keeping busy! Please do keep in touch!!
Jeraly
*BIG HUGS TO DEBZ!!!*

On another note... ohhh this is a long story but need some sympathy I think... I'll try and make it short.

Got wedding planner. Was awesome. Got final accounting. Not so awesome. A few queries over costs and timings etc. Sent e-mail to query this. Received e-mail back today and she was upset about our e-mail (not in nasty way - she lost her mom the week before our wedding so there has been a lot going on) but has pulled some strings so we aren't paying all the extra costs. I now feel terrible because I think she feels hurt/offended after all the work they put in for a wedding that didn't cost much to start with. We never intended to hurt or upset her because we really loved what they did - we just wanted to clear some things up.

Anyway - it'll prolly all get resolved fine but I am feeling really horrible about it all sad.gif
*julez*
Aly, its your right and responsibility as a consumer to question billed items. Don't let her sympathy issue confuse you! If you believe you've been billed too much you should say something, which you did. And there is nothing wrong with that!
Jeraly
Oh I know but I still feel cr@ppy sad.gif

ITA

You do NOT need to feel bad, but of course, you're a totally nice person, Aly, so you will smile.gif
Alex & Rachel
*hugs* Aly.

jundp is right - you're a really lovely person and I'm sure your wedding planner realises this and has taken no real offence.
Jeraly
Well it's ok - I referred it all to Jeremy in the end for the financial side and we are going to pay the extra - it was just a query on timings and because we weren't wearing watches we didn't realise how long things went on so we just queried it - they were going to cut out a lot of the extra costs but Jeremy stood up and said that we just didn't realise the timings and we will pay it all...

Dunno what will happen now - all we really wanted was some clarification sad.gif

Ah well... I am sure it will all be water under the bridge...
charles!
good morning everyone. it's almost friday kicking.gif

TGIAF!!!!

I can't wait for the weekend - I need to get my invitations sent for our UK wedding reception thing smile.gif

Hiya all biggrin.gif A few more hours of work left and then i'm off until Monday kicking.gif

I was planning on having a leaving party type thing on Saturday night on the beach, but I think the weather is going to let me down sad.gif Typical, it was so nice yesterday and this morning.
Alex & Rachel
What does it say about us when our longest conversations in threads are about duvets or chocolate? tongue_ss.gif

Good Friday afternoon, everyone!

I hope you have good weather on Saturday, toshtishtash. We could all do with a little more sunshine. It's spring after all!

laughing.gif Yes, I think that says a lot...

We certainly could all do with a little more sunshine... It's raining now though cray5ol.gif

Sod it. I might just do it anyway and hope for the best! Drunk people won't mind a wee bit of rain surely... laughing.gif

Yes Charles...in order to ensure your posts are top quality, you must be prepared to intelligently discuss duvets!

biggrin.gif
Alex & Rachel
Perhaps pen a poem on the warm snuggly feeling you get when enveloped in one?

Drunk people don't mind a lot of things. I was shocked when I first moved to the north at how girls would be walking around in mini-skirts and vest tops in below-zero weather at 2 am. The alcohol in the blood probably insulates them!
Jeraly
Haha - I can't wait to go to the beach again... prolly won't be til I am in Cali though - I have been to the Pacific precisely twice. Once in Monterey (before I knew Moxie lived there biggrin.gif) and once (well one trip but lots of times) in Hawaii!! How mad is that considering all the times I have been in SoCal!? Think we will have to go on more day trips biggrin.gif
elmcitymaven
It is bleh outside here today -- just started raining AGAIN. We had a glorious day on Easter Sunday, and Tuesday was spiffing. But now, yeccccch.

But I had a great start to the day -- I didn't have a single red light on my morning commute! A clear, green-lighted journey in shaved almost 5 minutes off my commute, only 8 minutes. Which is totally amazing, considering that my commute in London would take 40 minutes on a good day, whether by bus or tube.

I am ticking off the days until next Saturday, when I fly into London City Airport. After I dump my bags, I am off to John Lewis to go duvet snuggling and purchasing! Rachel -- I accept the duvet poem challenge! Watch this space....

On a dreary day
(Much like today
with the sky a charcoal grey)
Make mine a duvet.

When the wind blows cold
(See Ol' Man Winter still has hold
of the Elm City, I'm afraid)
Make mine a duvet.

Though springtime shows a dainty flush
From time to time, and new springs gush
In Edgewood Park from day to day
Still! Make mine a duvet.

And even when we relocate
To California (not to near the Golden Gate
but to El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de Los Angeles, I mean, L.A.)
I'll say, make mine a duvet.

I'm the comfy sort. I like my bedding soft.
I know my togs. I know my "loft".
The girls at John Lewis see me coming and say,
"Make hers a duvet."

Is this duvet preoccupation
The product of an imagination
Running rampant with ideas I've plucked from VJ
(Which merely encourages me to make mine a duvet

(On days when I should be working
instead I am lurking
on threads which I'm interested in for totally prurient reasons – I mean, on some of these threads there is seriously nothing I can say
except that I intend to make mine a duvet.)

But I digress! One of my bad habits, I know.
So I'll bring this ambling, slow
Paean to bedding to its close without delay.
But know it, dearest UK VJ,
That I intend to make mine a duvet.

There is waaaaaaaaaay too much bed linen love here. tongue.gif

(I have an 84" round bed & a down duvet & I love them but no poems, sorry)
Alex & Rachel
Well, we do spend a third of our lives in bed - but how often do we go out and buy new pillowcases, or take the time to plump up our duvets, or wash the mattress cover?
*julez*
We're going out this weekend to purchase a new mattress! I can't wait!
Alex & Rachel
Ooh! Have fun!

Alex has said he'll save bed shopping until after I move over there - so we can both test out mattresses and frames together! Hurrah for new beds!

Fabulous poem up there Maven! laughing.gif laughing.gif

The great thing about laptops is being able to post online from the comfort of one's bed luv.gif

Sending a new duvet through the internet is a little bit beyond my capabilities, but maybe I'll draw a picture in honour of the poem biggrin.gif

Maven - you need to change your title to "hers is a duvet" or some such thing biggrin.gif

Thanks Aly, Tash, julez and Rachel! I am supposed to be writing a very important white paper on independent leadership of mutual funds, but this came out instead. Oops.

g'morning everyone.

Evening!! I should be in bed!!! Stupid clocks going forward!! I have to be up uber early tomorrow because of it now sad.gif Ah well - at least we get lighter evenings unsure.gif
StillThePrettiest
well, I've worked out how Charles has so many hearts'n'boxes tongue.gif
Jeraly
rolleyes.gif Well I wasn't going to say anything wink.gif

Of course I am one of those typical "reply-by-using-excessive-amounts-of-smilies" people...

Which reminds me - I must dig out Moxie's "different types of VJ-er" post somewhere so I can steal it laughing.gif
StillThePrettiest
oh yes, that was good; please do share it biggrin.gif

Will do when/if I can find it - I want to stick it on my website when I do... I don't think it is there already...

PS G'morning, Charles tongue.gif
Alex & Rachel
There's nothing wrong with smilies. I think they make posts look friendlier, anyway. On the occasion that I've posted without smilies or exclamation marks (which I also use in abundance) I think I'm come across as too stern or formal and I've found I don't get many replies.

EDIT: And I just made this post with no exclamation marks or smilies. So here you go: !!! biggrin.gif
Jeraly
*dutifully replies to the smiley-and-!!!-infested post*

I know - it annoys me too - my mum replies to texts without !!! and I always think she is mad at me biggrin.gif laughing.gif
StillThePrettiest
I definitely think! that you can! have too much of! a! good thing! with exclamation marks! but I am partial to the odd smiley myself biggrin.gif wink.gif kicking.gif smile.gif

Morning!! Hope you all had a lovely weekend. So very happy our clocks finally went forward yesterday! cool.gif
Alex & Rachel
Morning redkitty! My weekend was good (despite the weather), thank you - hope yours was too smile.gif

I often find myself writing an e-mail to Alex and then going back and removing half of the !s. I agonise far too much over how I sound in text form. Writing e-mails or letters to potential employers/family friends is worst. It is funny, though, how some people come across on paper - my mother texts me without using any punctuation and she even uses text-speak sometimes, even though she's super-picky about English grammar and punctuation when talking or hand-writing. Her texts come across as a rather long, confusing stream of verbal diarrhea.
Jeraly
Nah - my mum does't do that - just the lack of punctuation wink.gif

I don't know if I am pleased about the clocks - great that we have lighter evenings now but had the worst night's sleep last night sad.gif
