Morning.. I so wish I didn't have to work today. It's going to be beyond quiet. thankfully Kris doesn't work today so at least we can email till I get home! Just hate that the post is closed down a couple days since I just sent him everything he needs for once he gets his blasted interview.

Today needs to hurry the heck up!!! (or at least the work portion of the day LOL)

I heart.gif my duvet too luv.gif laughing.gif

Are the standard double ones (In Ikea) the same size as the standard double ones here? Because I was thinking of maybe buying one in Ikea but taking a load of covers over with me...

If not then I guess i'll just squish mine in along with the covers, lol

Chris also said he found something like that in JC Penneys? Anyone looked in there?

Morning all. Back to duvets again, eh? I was mentioning my upcoming John Lewis duvet hunt and Bruce said, "Are you sure we really need to get one abroad? Aren't these ones here in America good enough? And we're moving to California!"

blink.gif

I have no husband. Or at least no husband who fully grasps the importance of a proper duvet.

I believe the standard doubles are the same here. But definitely bring your covers.... they are SO hard to find here. sad.gif

I've seen very good quality duvets in Macy's. (Wait for a sale then use your EU passport to get an additional 11% off.) Bed Bath and Beyond also carries them. I bought a nice light-weight one there for a really good price during a sale. (And then they built an Ikea in Florida a year later. lol)

I used one! laughing.gif If there's one thing you can say about the Americans, it's that they know how to conduct a sale. When I lived in Canada I was always in the US clothes shopping. The size always fit properly, the sales were awesome, and the people were always so friendly and helpful. Canada cannot compete in that department. Yay for American shopping! kicking.gif

I have a shopping area about two blocks from my apartment...we have everything there...I rarely, if ever, have to go "in town" for anything...

g'day everyone good.gif

Happy Easter all smile.gif I cooked a lovely Roast Beef dinner yesterday and I have to say that I'm beginning to think I can beat my mum at this lol! Only Joking, she'd kill me if I said I could cook a better roast than her smile.gif What's everyone doing for Easter? I think we're going to The Wife's nan's house or something which will be fun whistling.gif
snowfrostedlashes
My Mum is making roast chicken today, and my sister is coming over later (neice and nephew stayed over last night as she had a date) so we're having a small family gathering.

Mark is spending the day with family too.

It's raining today and both the cats just came in all wet and fussing to be dried off.
Krikit
My families in Canada and England are all getting together. We have no family here in our State, and my husband is working today. We'll have supper and probably go into town this evening and sit on the balcony of our favourite cafe with a coffee or a wine and some dessert.
greeneyedgirlfl
I'm working on my portfolio for work (has to be turned in by Wednesday), packing for England, and cleaning the apartment at the same time...

Busy day...Happy Easter, everyone!!!
snowfrostedlashes
Ugh my sister is (as usual) very late... two and a half hours late to be precise... and we can't eat until she gets here *sighs* I'm hungry!!!
Jeraly
haha - had garlic basted chicken with roast potatoes and roast sweet potato and broccoli and carrots and gravy biggrin.gif. I had a couple glasses of red wine and a clementine for desert. Only had one Easter Egg (from work of all places) so ate that last night in front of the TV smile.gif Lost 2lbs this week so am doing good!!

@Toshtishtash - gimme a shout if you want and advice/tips/info on the site - it's pretty cool but basic because it is all quite new smile.gif

@Crikey! - I LOVE your siggie pic biggrin.gif
charles!

Happy Easter to all biggrin.gif

Thanks for that Jeraly, I haven't had chance to get on there and have a look yet! I will try tomorrow. I don't intend on doing much work tomorrow seeing as I am not getting any extra money for doing it! huh.gif

Call me Tash or Tasha if you like! It might be easier smile.gif
Jeraly
Haha - yeah it is a bit of a mouthful!! biggrin.gif Sucks that you aren't getting paid extra... although at this point I would prefer to be working and getting basic pay than not working and not getting paid at all... I am really hoping this other job works out for me or I am going to be struggling...

In other news (ok - this isn't all that exciting to anyone but me I think) but WE'RE GETTING OUR FIRST SOFA ON THURSDAY!!! laughing.gif

Jeremy's grandpa's wife's daughter (wacko.gif) has just bought a new one and she said we could have her old one for free!! It's really exciting as we have never owned our own furniture before - when I was out there we had a furnished place so now even though we don't have anywhere to live, having a sofa is sooo exciting - kinda like a step in the right direction!

AND I'll have somewhere to sleep until we can afford a bed... Jeremy will have to sleep on the floor laughing.gif
charles!
g'morning everyone. biggrin.gif

I'm back!

10 hour flights suck. crying.gif

We had an amazing time. We went to Cheddar Gorge & Cheddar caves - so cool! http://www.cheddarcaves.com. Went to Bristol, Portishead & London - saw art & drove around the West Country & shopped & drank in pubs & ate good tapas & played with my adorable neice. And read lots of gossip mags & watched Grand Designs & bad Channel 4 telly.

I ate fish & chips, sausages & mash, pork scratchings, cider, vodka lemonades - plenty of good eating & drinking. Brought back food & some shopping goodness.

It was FREEZING there - windy & cold. Snowed yesterday morning in London & then 10 hours later, we landed in 80 degree weather in LA.

Thinking we will move back within a year or so.... wink.gif

PS: I loved being away from US politics. smile.gif
*julez*
Welcome back, dev. Glad you guys had a great time!

Dang, its so quiet here today that the tumbleweeds have been rolling through again!

Broadmead? Cribbs Causeway? laughing.gif

Went to the 3 Sugar Loaves pub - so cute (by Xmas steps). Went to The Cottage Inn pub for lunch after a ferry trip on the canals with my neice & sis-in-law. Went to Ocean Cafe - very good!

Then other pubs in the countryside & Portishead.

Seriously, hubby had never been to Cheddar Caves - & we both thought is was so worth it!! But go during the week when there's no kids.
Jeraly
Haha - yeah I prolly will sometime smile.gif I think it is just one of those places that is so close you just figure you can go anytime so you never bother!!

I know the pub - that particular (tiny) part of Bristol is really pretty by Christmas Steps smile.gif

Broadmead... ok - I like it although it will be better when it isn't a building site as long as they don't go all up market and have stupid expensive stores like in the Mall... I *hate* Cribbs Causeway!!!! I'll only go there to go to Boots (in and out so I don't have to go inside!!) or for shoes as there are bunches of shoe shops there smile.gif I went just before Christmas and it was hell on earth!!!!!
