I've not seen snow in over 15 years ... hmm might have to make a trip up north one year.

Thunder storms are cool!! Except my dog hates them and freaks out!! tongue.gif

I don't do well in 100F heat either! Good thing we don't get much of that in San Francisco!
Jeraly
I got kinda used to it when I was out there in the summer but the joy of it is that we are close enough to the mountains that we can get snow in winter if we go for a short drive biggrin.gif I can't wait to go play int he snow biggrin.gif

Depending on if it is humid heat or dry heat. The humid heat can be unbearable. It gets around 104ish during the summer here but its dry heat so not too bad. But i love days like today.. 70ish out.. breezy and stormy.
Jeraly
Yeah - hot and humid sucks... although Hawaii was a bit humid but it was around 80 so it awsn't too bad smile.gif
redkitty
What I realllly miss is sunshine, period. Doesn't matter if it's windy and cold or warm and breezy....I just can't handle living without the sun anymore! I had no clue when I moved here how much I would miss it! I'm so sick of the color grey!!!

I am happy all the spring flowers are starting to bloom. So many daffies!! energy.gif
Jeraly
I love the spring flowers as well - not sure they would survive in the desert though sad.gif But it's ok - I have amused myself by asking for about 5 different humming bird feeders on our wedding registry laughing.gif They are like glass baubles and I couldn't choose so I had to add them all!!! *AND* those are the shortlisted ones!!

Jeremy wanted to move to the UK as well - he loves it here - he hates it being hot smile.gif Ah well tongue.gif

We are hoping to stay in Texas till my boys are grown and out on their own. Then we may move back across the ocean. Alot depends on what is going on at the time and where we are at in our lives. Till then I do love living in Texas for the most part.

It's not often we get 100+, but Florida's 80's and 90's, and the humidity really do wear thin pretty quickly. Thankfully, almost everything is air conditioned here laughing.gif

I've got one of those gadgets on the computer that gives the temperature in F and C so it's easy to tell my parents what the weather's like when they ask.
Alex & Rachel
I'm moving to California - but I still wouldn't want to experience Florida's weather! The weather can also be quite humid in the UK and two? three? summers ago (the last time we had a proper summer, really) I remember arriving at work with my shirt wet through it was so humid. I found California's heat far more bearable because it was very dry.

Reading back through the thread I see I agree with a lot of other people, too!

I really miss the sun - although it's quite sunny today. I have an office with a big south-facing bay window and when the sun is out it's glorious.
redkitty
Happy Wednesday everyone! energy.gif

It's so sunny here in Bristol this morning I *almost* think I'm in California!!! It was lovely to practice yoga in my living room with sun pouring in through the window. kicking.gif

Its supposed to be sunny most of the day but back to rain and cold weather for the next 4 days.

Hope you all have a lovely day!

Good morning afternoon everybody. I've been away for a couple of weeks (1st week in Denver, 2nd week at the beach with my girlfriend from Canada), and have spent the last couple of days trying (in vain) to catch up. lol

Jeraly, I had to figure out the temperature conversions too, so here's the formula:

To go from Farenheit to Celcius:
subtract 30 and divide by two

To go from Celcius to Farenheit:
take your number, double it and add 30

Oh, and I loooooooooooove the Florida heat. luv.gif Hope everyone's having a great day!

Yay! I can be fluent in Californian!! Don't I just need to say "awesome" and "dude" a lot?!?!

'tis indeed sunny in Bristol today - cold though smile.gif Only problem is you can't see the monitor when the sun shines in so we have to draw the blinds - boo!!!

You have no idea how often I use 'awesome' when I speak - I'm more careful when I write but I can't take the time to find more varied alternatives when I speak. I didn't really notice how often I said it until my dad visited New Zealand and returned with a cap for me with 'Awesome' written on it - he said it suited me perfectly! blush.gif

Happy Wednesday redkitty! Crikey! I feel like I haven't seen you in ages!

Hahaha biggrin.gif I noticed Jeremy's mom using it a lot - it made me laugh so much... of course now I use it all the time blush.gif

PACKET THREE HAS BEEN DELIVERED TO THE US EMBASSY!!! WOOOHOOO!!!!!!!!

Now if only I could figure out whether to get a new police certificate or not... if anyone can let me know I will kiss you!! Or not... Ok - if you want to be kissed then I will kiss you and if you dont' then I won't... I can use it as bribery perhaps... "if you don't find out for me I will kiss you - muah ha ha ha ha!!!"

Today has been surprisingly sunny!

I also met by random chance in the street today someone I haven't seen since I was 16 and now he's been ordained and is living in my hometown... small world.

And today Mark met with the pastor and made a tentative wedding date of 6th September - so I'm hoping we can keep to that date!

Oh, sounds blissful! One of the main life goals that Alex and I share is to eventually have a big enough house that we can designate one room as being solely the 'library' and have two big leather reading chairs.

Oh oh oh!! I want a library too!! I have sooo many books and I want it to be like Dumbledore's office biggrin.gif
Alex & Rachel
I have a fair few books, too - of course the problem is that they're all here, in the UK! wink.gif I'm going to be getting rid of all the ones I definitely won't re-read, although I'm also going to keep quite a few - it'll be more economical to ship across a couple of boxes than to sell them and then buy new copies once I'm in the US.

The library's the one room for which I have a definite vision in mind...floor-to-ceiling bookcases, leather reading chairs, a large wall map, and I'd like a free-standing globe, too...a fireplace would complete the setting, although it'd also be redundant in California. biggrin.gif

They've introduced a new style of police check - it's only valid for 6 months and costs £35 (but you receive it within 10 days instead of the usual 40 or so).

I know they are officially only valid for a month but doesn't it say on the London Embassy web site somewhere they accept them as valid for 12 months, or have they changed that.

Yeah...overcast here, too. Maybe I'll go and make a green tea.

I know that sometime in the future Alex would like to move to another state - he has his eye on Washington. I'm really not so sure, though - I've been dreaming of all the Californian sunshine! I was hoping to stay away from grey clouds and rain for a while. blush.gif

Good morning afternoon everyone. smile.gif Rachel, your library sounds lovely. Definitely include the fireplace because California gets cold too. That is one thing i would love to have. A den/library. Lots of bookshelves as well as a nice old fashion desk to do my writing at. All warm earth tones to help keep the area nice and relaxed.... tranquil. Old world style though... hmmm..

Tea.. its the one thing I WISH I liked.

Warm weather here.. sunny again. Just wish Kris was here.

On the few days that we get proper cold temperatures (in the 30s and 40s over night) and the temperature falls under 70 in the house, I actually have to turn the air conditioning to heat mode. I don't understand how it's possible to be cold at 18c laughing.gif

I think every single house I've been in during my trips to California had an open fireplace. J's mom even lit a log every night during Christmas so we would feel cozy. It did get cold there at times.

Aww - that sounds lovely smile.gif I hope we have an open fireplace... although we will prolly be living in a tin can (trailer) at first until we can afford to buy somewhere decent so we will prolly be plugging the gaps with expanding foam...
