In case anyone else is looking for someplace to get their Каша, Икра, or Хлебцы - we just got our first order from russiantable.com

Caviar was edible (and cheap), everything else was good. Shipping was cheap.

We are pretty happy with mayo here, though we did get a few packets of the Russian Garlic flavored type. smile.gif

I ordered too. Shipping and handling was pretty expensive $10 UPS ground for a $35 order, but it was indeed very nicely packaged when it arrived. Tried the chocolate candy (different kinds) -- all very good. Also ordered caviar, sprats, and marinated mushrooms.

How far do you live from your local USCIS office, San Jose? There are plenty of real Russian food stores in the Bay Area. Especially in San Francisco I can name at least 4. Much easier. You see the food and buy it. No shipping. Fresh food and lots of choice.

I'm in Sunnyvale so SF is pretty far to go grocery shopping! But if you know good places in the South Bay, please let me know. I normally don't miss Russian food that much, but as I looked at the web site it triggered my appetite for Russian stuff.

As far as California goes, I know a few places in San Diego. The stuff we ordered were mostly things that keep for a long time - so we ordered a lot. Postage wasn't a major factor ($8 for a $100 order). We probably won't need anything again for a while.

The spices, caviar, buckwheat, and mushrooms where the big things. We have a local gourmet store and local eastern europen store as well. Their prices are higher (even with shipping), but that takes care of perishable stuff.

I'm glad this helped some of you!

You aren't that far from the city. We used to go to the city about once or twice from the central valley about 100 miles away to get away from the heat and while we were there stock up on Russian groceries.
But anyway, I looked in the Russian yellow pages and here are some locations around the entire bay area.
IPB ImageI can't really vouch for any stores outside of San Francisco, because I have never been to them.
