What if you choose from the large variety of calling cards to call your fiance/spouse ? Does the USCIS take this as proof or do they require a phone bill ?

In my opinion it is so not worth all that money...u find prrove ur relationship in so many other ways..letters,cards, email phone bills are rediculous unless u get a good rate

That is a actually a very good question because I forgot to mention that.

We used LD through 3U telecom....tied to my home & cell phones; but you dial an 800 number and when prompted, dial in the JA number. So, my phone bills actually showed hundreds of calls to the same 800 number, never a JA number. I guess it happens a lot cause it was not questioned.

I have been in Maine now since Sept 1st and my phone bills are a huge stress... sooo much money to call St Lucia. I think 52 cents a minute. I have well over $1000 in phone bills (almost paid them all) and finally called the phone company and blocked all overseas calls, otherwise I could not dicipline myself. So now I use www.enjoyprepaid.com and get about 17 cents a minute - much better! I can also top up Louis' digicel online. This way all the phone bills are paid BEFORE we make calls. Unfortunetly the 800 #s do not show on my phone bill!

I also finally convinced Louis to try e-mail. Since his own home has no running water etc internet is not an option at home but I convinced him to go to a mutual friend's house to use her computer. (he is not real fond of her) He can also sneak at work and check once in a while. But lawd! Trying to teach him over the phone to use e-mail - what a PIA!! LOL I told him he had to figure it out becuase without my huge phone bills we had to have some "proof"... We also have written each other a couple snail mails but there is another headache - the Lucian mail system!

They do have some but he needs a "how to use a computer" crash course. He has never used a computer before and teaching e-mail over the phone is not easy!

I get my cards through comfi.com, and I printed out a statement of all the calling cards I bought with the I-129f. Doesn't prove that I actually called HER, but it showed that I called someone a lot, and it wasn't cheap. I doubt it really helped much, but figured I'd give my two cents.

Good luck!

You are preaching to the choir, girl.

At least he has some sort of internet access. Andre had none. The phone was all we had.

$1,000 in phone bills since September? A drop in the bucket. It could always be worse.

You seem very wise on the blocking thing. I really respect that.

Wait!! What! ohmy.gif You had $12K in phone bills in 2 years!!!!! Is that what you're saying?! I thought the $1000 was crazy. I can't dial international on my cell or home, so it MADE me find other alternatives. Calling cards are the way to go! I guess I don't have that issue of proving our relationship cause we are married so I prove it with lots of other ways on the I-130. I am sure you can too.

I was just reading how much you all spend in calling cards!! ohmy.gif

Have to admit, we spent a lot too, but only for about two months. blush.gif We used to chat on Yahoo Instant Messenger (YIM), and realized that if we both bought USB headsets (less than $20 in the US), we could talk for real all we wanted on YIM for free!!

Of course, that means being chained to the computer, and somedays YIM acted up, but well worth it to hear each others voice. If you both have access to computers with high-speed internet and speakers, think about trying it.

A few months later, I discovered that if I hooked up a Verizon landline to my house, I could get an "Unlimited UK" calling plan for $40 a month. Now we talk for 3-4 daily.

Digicel to the US isn't bad...about 20 minutes for $100 J last time I checked.
For calling the caribean (especially JA) I use an outfit called VIP http://www.joinvip.com/ I went from $1.40/min to $.20/min. I blocked all international calls as well when my beloved spouse ran the bill up to $3,000. in two weeks calling home.

Right now I pay about $.10 a minute to call JA. But its a calling card and each card is only good for 30mins each. So its annoying at times cause we are chatty and like to talk for hours, so having an interruption every 30 mins sucks. but it does keep my bill down. Plus hubby has 2 JA phones now...one C&W and one Digicell and signs up for those special international plans. Its been working good for us.

I also always use pre-paid disposible calling cards so I had no record to send in with the petition, so I didn't bother showing phone calls. I included 6-8 emails both ways (translated), 6 photos, and I made 12 trips to Costa Rica in the past 2 years (so I included about 15 boarding passes that I still had). It was accepted without a problem.
dial1010usa
I have been using landline company www.Dial1010.com you can switch or able to use 1010 number and also using prepaid www.myTel3.com and you can get statement for your phone calls thru online history. It is very convenient.
jtleist
I recommend using the "clean and stable" card from www.uniontelecard.com They give great rates to landlines (Cell phones are high). It lets you download your call activity for a one month period. The statements show which number you called on what date and for how long. I pay 2.2 cents a minute to Peru, with no additional fees (connection or maintenance).

You have to call a local access number, not a 800 number to get the best rates. It also has speed dial so you just hit 1#. I store the access code with a pause (hold down the # key when you are entering the number into your phones memory). This makes the call all of 4 buttons (Speed dial key to call card, send tones button with hard pause, then the speed dial key of whom I am calling, followed by the # key. You also have to purchase a minimum of $20 to receive the best rate, but this is easy to burn up when talking to your loved one. http://www.uniontelecard.com/phonecards/20...ean-and-stable/

Good luck

I used www.dial55.com sometimes, but that is for calls to Brazil.

I always paid more since I was not calling Rio or Sao Paulo (although my husband's city is like the 8th largest in the country) and because he only had a cell phone (no landline). Grrrr

We used tel3advantage.com. For her to call Canada it was 1.9 cent a minute and for me to call her it's 2.9 cent a minute. You can print out the log from online. SInce we use tel3 for our calls solely, all the calls on the phone log were between she and I.

What if you choose from the large variety of calling cards to call your fiance/spouse ? Does the USCIS take this as proof or do they require a phone bill ?

i used pingo.. i was able to go on their site and print out the call history.. my husband was able to even call me from new york using my account number.. i didn't have to send him a phone card to call me.. they have good rates.. i also used my home phone(at&t).. they charged .38 cents a minute plus a monthly fee.. pingo charged me .19 cents a minute... however for his visa interview they didn't even ask to see the phone records...but they are good to have just in case yes.gif

Everytime I get the LD bill now, I smile. Hang in there. Your costs will go down.
