Hallowe'en party is tomorrow for us but have spent all day sorting things out so that I only just had lunch!!!

I hope you have a fantastic party Aly. biggrin.gif

I really wish I could have been there. crying.gif Still, have a few drinks for me and I'll be thinking of you all. biggrin.gif
Jeraly
We'll miss you too!!! Pumpkin seeds turned out ok - not bad for a first attempt biggrin.gif Eggs are chilling so I can devil them tomorrow biggrin.gif
tucson_chick
congratulations, debz!

ah, aly, i wish so much we could be there tomorrow!

i came home early today (haha) and did the long needed cleaning of the house. now i'm waiting on eric, vegging on the couch and surfing the net. i need to finish some serious job allplications this weekend though.

later we'll watch scary movies and eat pizza.

my temporary crown is giving me a hard time, the gums are very sore and infected. *sigh*

i remember that there were times when my life was easier. crying.gif
Jeraly
Ah but there must have been times when your life was harder as well - remember that we can't appreciate the good times without the bad times smile.gif

We'll miss you and Eric as well sad.gif We'll be passing through AZ when we go on a mini road trip (mini meaning short but lots of miles!!!) but only down as far as Flagstaff - we are driving up and around Colorado smile.gif I can't wait! I get to go have a bath again in a hotel!! YIPPEE!! I *so* miss my baths!!
weedebz
US test was so much easier than UK one. Drove round 3 blocks, pulled over as if stopping in emergency, drove back to test center, parked and that was it. 10 mins max.

anyways, father in law just handed me 2 $100 bills. He owed me towards Nick's birthday present. Wasn't expecting it this week as I know they struggling this month.
Jeraly
Nice!! Ok - that doesn't seem so bad - Palm Springs is ok to drive in - there are smaller roads and I am getting to know some of the larger ones - I think like you said though it is going to be the spacial awareness thing of being on the wrong side of the car... Gonna practice in a parking lot first anyway smile.gif

How was the Hallowe'en party last night? I still have decorating and baking to do!!!
weedebz
party was good. going go un-decorate soon.
Ovaltine Jenkins
But you arent on the wrong side of the car tongue.gif Just on a different one tongue.gif

We had a blast yesterday. Did lotsa Halloween traditions stuff, got burnt in hot caramel and went trick or treating with our nephews biggrin.gif

How many people are coming to your party Aly?
Jeraly
Well currently it is Jeremy and I, elmcitymaven, a couple of friends from Palm Springs and a friend we have known for years from LA but never met - we met her on the game Jeremy and I met - we both knew her before we met each other so it will be really cool biggrin.gif

Babbles said she and Jesse would be down but that was ages ago and I haven't heard from her since so I'm not expecting her unsure.gif

Ok - back to baking - have wa-a-ay too much food again and didn't get enough chocolate chips for the truffles so had to walk to the store - now I am all hot and sweaty - yuck!
Ovaltine Jenkins
What was your costume? biggrin.gif

We want photos!! biggrin.gif
Jeraly
I was a pumpkin fairy thing... No pics of me - I have a couple of Jeremy and Ginger the ghost wink.gif But that is all sad.gif
Ovaltine Jenkins
I was a firefighter which looked kinda funny when we were picking up the cream for burns at the store tongue.gif How come ghosts didnīt take a pic of you?

well had my 1st job interview today (2.5hrs!!!!). It went really well and I enjoyed it. I will find out by the end of the week if I have it or not. They still haven't decided what the pay will be as this is a new job taking the place of a part-timer plus the work the kennel manager used to do before he got handed more paperwork and clinic management duties. It's 40hrs spread over 4 days a week. I'll have most weekends plus either monday or wednesday (Nick's days off). Public holidays are worked on rotation with every member of kennel staff working 1 holiday a year each. If I get the job I'll be doing thanksgiving as that is what the person who I'm replacing was down to do. The clinic provide me with uniform which is medical scrubs. Every month I work I get 4hrs paid time off plus 1 week paid vaction a year. I also get $1200 towards health insurance. The animals vary from close to death to healthy and just boarding then from illness to abuse cases as the clinic does work for humane society. I'll also be responible for monitoring sick animals and giving them their meds. Types vary from huge fully grown newfoundland dogs right down to newborn kittens, occasionally I'll deal with rabbits and ginea pigs, thankfully I won't deal with reptiles as they have a specialist. Today as part of my interview I walked a boarding newfoundland then gave meds to a stray 3 week old kitten. I think it would be a vary rewarding job. Fingers crossed and I'll let you know once I do.
Jeraly
Oh it sounds great and you get paid vacation right away?! Fingers crossed for you!!!
weedebz
now I'm spending the week staring at my phone waiting for it to ring.
Jeraly
Oh fun(!)
rae_and_scott
Wow, Debz, I hope you get the job, good luck! It does indeed sound really rewarding. It also sounds like the type of thing I would really enjoy doing! wink.gif

Happy belated Halloween all. Hope your party was great, Aly!

I worked the weekend, working late this week... ugh. But in positive news, I got shoes to wear with my wedding gown. Kate Spade's, ultra cute. They are currently being dyed green, so I don't actually have them yet. smile.gif

did you guys read the post of the guy who thinks that his case should get expedited because he knocked up is fiancee?
http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=160094

well - if your fiance lives in a third world country and you don't use contraceptive stuff, and you do the big nasty, there is a chance that she will have a bun in the oven. and yes, you knew how long it takes to get a visa for her.
If there was an expedite for pregnancy, all of us would get pregnant (at least I would have wink.gif )

I will probably get killed for that opinion though.

smile.gif

ohwell.
Ovaltine Jenkins
The job sounds wonderful Debz biggrin.gif Hope you get it biggrin.gif

Rachel are you gonna be wearing green? biggrin.gif

LET'S GO McCAIN/PALIN!!!!

Susie....I almost fainted when I read your post!

omg I did too! Then I saw it was you who posted it and I knew it was a joke. wink.gif

Did you all vote today?! Okay, I realize many of you can't, but did your spouses??

I voted. yes.gif

Then I went to Starbucks b/c they are giving free coffee if you voted, and the line was out the door.

Marta, no I'm not wearing green! tongue.gif Just green shoes. A little something different. wink.gif
Ovaltine Jenkins
Ha! I almost fainted too biggrin.gif laughing.gif I am allowed to vote but not in certain countries tongue.gif Hey actually I am allowed to vote here too but only if thereīs election going on in CZ and I go to the Embassy tongue.gif I wonder if they do something in Starbucks here too. We havenīt gone voting yet cuz itīs 8am tongue.gif

Will someone see your green shoes underneath your huge white gown then or is it just your secret? (OK, yours and mine biggrin.gif)
rae_and_scott
haha, they are not a secret, but I don't expect many people will see my shoes! I don't know, I just wanted something a bit more fun than white shoes, and green is one of my colors, so... seemed like a good idea. wink.gif Maybe I'll get green underwear too, and that will be my little secret. Mine and yours and VJ's. laughing.gif

There is all this excitement in the air right now for the election. It's really cool. I had to do a paper ballot though, which annoyed me a little bit because I checked my registration online yesterday and everything seemed fine. During the last presidential election I was in Canada so I voted absentee; then after I came back to NY for some reason they kept me on an absentee ballot. It was easier so I just went with it. But then something came that I had to sign stating that I had to be unavailable to be absentee, or else I'd be lying, so I re-registered, tried to be a normal voter. Somehow they messed up and I wasn't on their list today. Oh well, at least I still got to vote.
*julez*
I usually vote on my way into work, but Griff asked me to wait until after work cos he wants to go with me. He likes seeing the election stuff in progress. smile.gif He's definitely going to naturalize, so he needs to see how it all works.

The green shoes idea is a little weird, but simultaneously cool. Hey, its your day, so may as well do it the way you want it! BTW....What shade of green? Hopefully not puce! tongue.gif
rae_and_scott
Actually, yes, puce... unsure.gif

laughing.gif, j/k. It's moss/grass/apple green, in that arena. My other color is chocolate brown. I love the combo. smile.gif
weedebz
Nick voting after work and I too today am wearing a touch of blue. Considering Nebraska is supposed to be a die hard red state, everyone I've spoken to who was willing to tell me is voting for Obama.

still waiting for that call!!!!

Seems most people agree with you!! It does seem a bit stupid - it's like, if you don't want your partner to be pregnant in a sh!tty situation then don't get them pregnant!!! Sure mistakes happen but a lot of people are suggesting that he just support her how he can by finding her somewhere else to live...

glad to hear that everyone is pretty involved in this election...i have never seen anything quite like it, its so exciting!!

i voted early on friday because i figured that the lines would be shorter than today, and i have class most of the day today as well...it was just less hectic to do it on friday, and i like that we have that option here...i am wearing my navy and baby blue nike dunks today...for all of you non-brooklyn kids out there, those are sneakers haha we take our shoes very seriously biggrin.gif

ohhhh rae, i love the green and brown combo, in fact much of my house has that general theme going on...brown is the base color, and the accent changes between blue and green in the other rooms...i love brightly colored shoes with neutral toned clothes too, and i like the apple green idea!

debz- yeah, many states that have traditionally been red have either turned blue or are now swing states...it's just freakin great haha! indiana is a good example of this, mccain is only 1 point ahead in the polls (which is, of course, smaller than the margin of error)...i am glad that i voted here and not in ny, one extra push for obama in indiana!

kicking.gif

a few ppl have asked me who adriano is voting for blink.gif i guess that people assume once you marry a citizen that you automatically become one yourself...oy vey, if they only knew just how complicated it actually is wacko.gif

i agreed with you and posted if the situation there is so bad he should send her support to get her and his future baby into a better place. I also liked how he complained about having to pay the medical expenses there "out of pocket" lol. I posted he should try that here in the USA. blink.gif

Ovaltine Jenkins
How come it takes them like a quarter of a year to get your stuff to you?
StillThePrettiest
because it's on a ship, which is LOADS cheaper than putting it on a plane, and they take much more time to cross the water smile.gif
not to mention, you have to get the stuff to the ship, and it has to be packed, and then sit in customs at the other end, etc etc smile.gif
Jeraly
Yeah - it was one of the consignments that got checked over as well so we have to pay a grand total (pro rata) of...

$11.06 for the pleasure of having some dude fiddle with my things laughing.gif
