True, so true! Sorry Gillian! blush.gif You just haven't been posting in this thread today!

The freakiest bug I've encountered so far is a big blue flying insect which looks like a beetle and has a wingspan of 2 inches or so. They fly right by your head and the buzzing is horrific. I hate them!! Have no idea what they are though.

It wouldn't be the infamous June bug would it? Otherwise no clue sad.gif

QUOTE(weedebz @ Aug 7 2008, 01:11 PM) *
I've encountered several freaky bugs. The locusts scare me. Big ugly noisy things. I like the fireflies though.

We need to try do a more central meet up sometime for those of us stuck in the arse-end-of-nowhere.

Current missions for me to keep mind off AOS.
1. Try train our kitty not to bite. He's a 2 yr old rescue cat and he has agression issues. His name is Oscar the grouch.
2. Find an affordable SUV or Van or car that's big enough to carry all Nick's band stuff (also need to be able to afford insurance on said transport.)
3. It's eldest sister in laws b'day today, another sister in laws b'day tomorrow and brother in laws b'day on sat. How my mother in law did it I don't know.
Millie 7th august (18th)
Mollie 8th august (16th)
Brodey 9th august (20th)

Wow - that's an impressive line-up!!! Must be the cold winters laughing.gif innocent.gif whistling.gif

We'll defo have to arrange a central meetup - I really want to come visit but we just worked out our budget and our outgoings exceed Jeremy's income so it's going to be interesting! A lot of the problems can be sorted - getting a new car so we don't spend $100 a week on gas (although it is finally under $4 a gallon here again!! $3.97 now) will help hugely as will paying off our credit cards that have taken a beating!! And once we get the storage cleared out then that is another $60 a month saved. Although we went there today and were going to just throw some bags into the car to sort at home... then the lady there told us that the black widows are rampant at the moment and that she would recommend getting a fogger in there first unsure.gif We decided that just throwing bags in the car to put in our house was a BAD PLAN and went to Jeremy's employee picnic instead laughing.gif

QUOTE(Scott and Marta @ Aug 9 2008, 02:24 PM) *
So I won´t be able to get to PS this time unfortunately, but we´ll hopefully make it at Halloween. Then, I might only fit into an elephant costume laughing.gif

Two weddings in a year, Aly ohmy.gif Hope your second one went as well as the first one biggrin.gif

Aww - you'll be missed Marta!! But maybe for Hallowe'en you can come as a camel with the hump in the wrong place laughing.gif Also - was there any preference for the Friday or Saturday night people???

QUOTE(tucson_chick @ Aug 10 2008, 08:38 PM) *
oh, and we met aly in tombestone yesterday and shared a whole lot of rum&cokes in the saloon. i can't find the cable for my camera, but maybe aly can upload the picture to share the proof!

I have it somewhere - I need to get on my puter later as I am on Jeremy's dreadful laptop right now so I can lie on the bed in front of the air con!!! I will have to sift through the 700+ random photos I took on our road trip - most of them are blurry ones through the car window so it will be a chore and a half to go through them!!!

Had an absolutely excellent time though with very good tour guides!! Just wish we hadn't got so lost on the way to Agnes' house - I cleverly wrote down completely the wrong directions and had us coming off the freeway five exits after we needed to - other than that, my directions were perfect... I think I just had a brain fart laughing.gif

QUOTE(weedebz @ Aug 11 2008, 06:02 PM) *
....and round 2 is go!!!

Got my NOA1's today for AOS and EAD

Gratzies!! Have updated the spreadsheet biggrin.gif Any more news from people? And are you not filing for AP Debz? I think I remember you mentioning it but I forgot... unsure.gif

No not filing for AP. Don't need it and figured I'd filled out enough pieces of paper without adding an extra usless few. No intentions of going back to Scotland until next summer and hopefully will be with GC by then. If not I'll be worried!!!

Saw my first rattle snake earlier today. YIKES!!!! Lots of garter snakes round my back yard but was out at a lake for a walk, went into tall grass to take photo and heard it. Nick pulled me back super fast and there it was staring at me shaking it's tush! Didn't enjoy that much and learned not to just plough into tall grass here.

Jeraly
Oooh - that's pretty exciting!! The snake I saw was a constrictor so it was all groovy biggrin.gif

Are you with net now?!??! Posts seem to be more frequent... we need a zinfandel night again!!!

Friday nights would be best for me. good.gif

Scott and I are still in the same house for another couple of weeks but Fridays is when he goes over to his brother's to eat pizza and watch action movies and I stay home alone with Desperate Housewives, Gordon Ramsey and a bottle of wine. biggrin.gif

I'll have PC by Friday. No net though. Still trying to work out with landlady which company to go through as once we move out she'll keep it going and we just going to split cost whilst we there.
Jeraly
Aww that sucks sad.gif

I am going insane here trying to find someone who knows where I can get the HPV vaccine - so much for phoning around for prices, just finding someone who knows what they are talking about would be helpful!!! I phoned up the regional medical center to start. They put me through to ER who put me through to Triage who told me that I needed to speak to a General Physician. So I call one. Any one because there are a trillion out there. They tell me I need to speak to a Gynecologist... I mean wtf?!?!!??! ranting33va.gif I just want someone to stick a damn needle in me and pay a stupid sum of money for it cray5ol.gif

Yay!!! kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif

No other takers...?
rae_and_scott
I'm not sure what I'm doing tomorrow, but I might be there. Only problem is, I need a bottle of 2 buck Chuck (kinda short on funds at the moment). Hmm, maybe a trip to Trader Joe's is in order. wink.gif
Jeraly
Yay!! Cheap wine!! I would recommend the dollar store but I have tried wine from there and it was diabolical!!
rae_and_scott
laughing.gif laughing.gif

Dollar stores sell wine?!
I think I'd rather drink cooking wine! j/k laughing.gif
Jeraly
I think cooking wine is probably better laughing.gif

Dollar store wine - we tried it a couple of summers ago for a laugh and half heartedly thinking that maybe if it was any good then we could invest... I don't even think it was drinkable!!
rae_and_scott
That is really funny.

I know 2 buck Chuck is not fine wine, but in my opinion, it's totally drinkable.

Course now I've realized I have work tomorrow. I don't know how the heck I forgot about that. But that doesn't mean Friday night Zinfandel is out of the question. wink.gif
Jeraly
Working under the influence?! Sounds like the best way to me!!!

I know - I am so not a wine snob - I swear some of the really expensive wines taste totally nasty to me so as long as I like it then I don't mind!! There are some lovely white zinfandels out there as well which are gorgeous chilled with an ice cube. Currently I have a gallon jar of $7.99 Paisano - I think it is a Carlo Rossi one or something... cheap anyway and totally drinkable biggrin.gif
Jeraly
Chat has moved to VJ chat as server is down for my website - boo!!

Gillian and I are there if anyone has nothing better to do on a Friday night?!
rae_and_scott
um....

*hates feeling ignorant*

what's VJ chat?
Jeraly
Rae!! Top right link under the banner pic says chat biggrin.gif Just click on it!!!

Come on in!!
rae_and_scott

I appear to be the only person I see. I went in and said hello but... is it b/c I use a mac??

hi guys!
we're back in the civilized world! we just didn't have electricity for two days. we had a really big storm on wednesday and the powerlines were lying on the ground all over the town. no ac, no fridge, no freezer and no light for 48 hours.

sorry i didn't join the chat last night, but i have some weird stomach thing going on :/
Jeraly
Wow Agnes - I know there was a lot of rain when we were out there but nothing that bad!!! We had a few spots of rain yesterday but that was it - was kinda hoping for a big storm sad.gif

Ok news for me and completely OT biggrin.gif

My brother (younger - he is 24) just got promoted - his manager was leaving so he went for his job and had to go through two interviews. He got the job and a £11,000 a year payrise!!! He's looking at coming out to visit me next year now because he will be able to afford it biggrin.gif He's going to be in charge of two teams and he is totally made up about it biggrin.gif

My mum took him and my other brother out to dinner to a) celebrate and cool.gif to thank my other brother (21 next month) for helping her sort out the attic and she felt sorry for me because we missed out. She said she had put some money in my account as a surprise so I was expecting maybe £50 for a meal for me and Jeremy and for some wine we picked her up in Tombstone. I check my bank and she put in £150!!! I am soooo happy!! It will really help us get a few other bits and pieces for the house biggrin.gif

Of course then I had a shower and got all weepy but mnleh tongue.gif

wow, that is so awesome! my parents wired us some money, too smile.gif definately helped buying the plane tickets for christmas...

we'll have visitors from germany for 2 weeks in september and i am not quite sure how to entertain them. they think that they can go hiking and running and stuff, all with 110 degrees outside.... (not to talk about dangerous creatures...)
Jeraly
Hahaha - well there must be *something* to do there, surely?! Will you have time off work or will they be left to their own devices for the days? Will they be driving? If they will then they can go see those caves and drive down to Bisbee and see the mines and things. Maybe they can hop across to Mexico if they are so inclined biggrin.gif

http://www.visittucson.org/

Send them this - maybe they can dig something out of it if you just let them know how hot it will be... I am sure they won't be that insane to go stomping off in 110f!! I know I wouldn't!! I have a bicycle now though and I haven't ridden in years!! That is going to be fun!!

Did you get the photos I sent yet? Did I even send them? I know I have them on my puter now... doh! I don't think I sent them yet! Lemme go do that now biggrin.gif

they've never been outside europe and have quite an experience to make. they are by far not independent enough to go on a trip like bisbee. and i can't take time off. oh well....
thanks for sending the picutres! i will look at them when i get back from grocery shopping smile.gif

hugs!
Jeraly
Hehe - oh no - so you have to babysit them and let them deal with public transport!? AhhhH!!! Well hopefully that site will give them some ideas - I am sure in the day the mountain trails aren't too dangerous animal-wise are they? Or will they come out in the light as well? Eep! I know we are meant to get coyotes but I think I would be scared to go anywhere with so many creatures around!!

Oh! Did you read the thread with the person who doesn't know how to afford her husband moving over?! It's in this forum ohmy.gif I'm like - hello?!?!?!
Jeraly
*sigh* Ok - this is getting annoying, every corner I turn I find that I need more and more info and I am tearing my hair out - the August filer thread for AOS is verrry slow so waiting there for info is tedious at best.

Thought I would try my chances here biggrin.gif

- My NOA2 has expired - do I need to get a new one and if so, how?
- Is there a definitive page on the USCIS website for adjusting status from K-1? Cause I can't find it.
- And how many photos do you need to submit? Babbles is going through her paperwork too and wanted to know...
bakofoil
Gah! And the vaccination supplement I-693!

I don't think your NOA2 expiry is a problem. The expiry date only factors into the K1 visa application and US embassy interview aspect. No worries there!

And why am I having a problem inserting apostrophes? It brings up the quick find thing every time I key one.
rae_and_scott
Yeah the NOA2 expiry is definitely irrelevant to AOS, so that's good news.

Not sure about a USCIS website for AOS... sorry. I bet there's one out there but I am too lazy to go looking just now. I would suggest trying older (than August) filer threads, but I can tell you neither July nor June mentions that, so perhaps it'd be a waste of time.

We only submitted a handful of new photos. My camera had broken so we actually had very few new ones. I really think it's practically unimportant. tongue.gif
weedebz
Got biometrics appointment letter yesterday and it's at 1pm on 09/09. I'm so glad it's the time it is. Means don't have to get up at some silly 'o' clock time for the 3 hour drive to Omaha. Decided to make a day trip out of it. Me, Nick, Brodey (brother in law) and Ellen (mother in law) all going. Going to go to World Market while I'm through there and get some Irn Bru and hobnobs. (anyone that really knows me from k1 knows about my hobnob addiction).

I took the chance and just sent DS3025 (or whatever it is?) for medical. If I get RFE...meh..no biggy...I'm here. Obviously I want EAD ASAP as I need to start making money but we figured a week or 2 delay is no a huge problem.

I know I'm going to get RFE for co-sponsors W2's...my bad...forgot to put them in envelope dispite going through package 6 times. I have them here in an addressed envelope ready to go.

Final update. My parents coming to visit Oct 11th for 10 days. Desperatlt need to find places to take them and things to do around here.
bakofoil
Yeah, I'm taking the chance on the vaccination thing too. There are reports on VJ of people getting approved without the I-693 so... we'll see.

World Market is super expensive, but I loved seeing all that stuff there. I couldn't believe the price of a 99p box of PG tips! I had no idea they sold Irn Bru. I love Irn Bru and Tizer. Anything made by Barr is good.

Debz, did you send off I-864 for Nick and the sponsor and an I-864A for the sponsor too?
