So when we were flying above Texas, I was thinking about STP, then we were flying above Tucson, so I was thinking about Agnes and when we reached Palm Springs, I was thinking about Aly. I was also thinking about my other friends, who we didnīt fly above and wished we flew above everyone. But that would be a looong flight tongue.gif Well ofcourse I was also thinking about other things in the meantime but I think itīs pretty cool to know you are so "close" to somewhere where you have a friend biggrin.gif
StillThePrettiest
that's a lovely thought! smile.gif

the only thing I could think of as we flew over LA was how ugly it was wacko.gif
and then I noticed all the jacarandas... I wonder if we could grow one here; the climate's not dissimilar (and we have them all over Sydney smile.gif )

can't wait til we're all a bit settled, and the meetings can begin! biggrin.gif
I guess I'll do all the travelling as I'm the only one who seems not to want to have kids biggrin.gif wink.gif

You should fly over LA after it gets dark smile.gif All the lights make it much nicer biggrin.gif

And mind you, I donīt wanna throw neither grapefruit nor uterus at the Daddy tongue.gif

sort of... if 17 and 9 months can still be called a 'kid' wink.gif

so funny... the other night, his dad picked him up from where he (son) has just started a summer job... his step-dad came over to our place to pick son up... BOTH the dads had to get a move on, as they both had homework from the online courses they're taking (both completing degrees), and the son, who'd finished school a day or two earlier, was crowing over them laughing.gif
Scott and Marta
laughing.gif But itīs nice that they all get along so well biggrin.gif
StillThePrettiest

I can't wait for the meetings either - we want kids but not right away - we want some "us" time first smile.gif Besides - we love road trips so maybe StP and I can meet at a central point and road trip together - that would be awesome biggrin.gif Of course, with the dire holiday allowance in the States I am not sure how possible that will be either though - boo!!!!!

massive babyfever right now.

oh, and my job is a major pain in the neck. i made a mistake that might be pretty bad, and i am kinda sure that they will fire me next week. they make me rush like crazy through things, so i don't have the time to double check for mistakes....
i guess i would be kinda relieved i they would fire me, as they are all micromanagers (i had to sign a memo on how to clean my desk on fridays, there are 3 steps with different detergents....). but on the other hand, i REALLY like my paychecks.

the financial insecurity resulting from being fired would suck, but man, this job is a pain....

hope everybody has a great weekend!!!!

And one more thing: I can't wait to have a baby with P!!! We have two kids (mine from before, but they're "his" now too) and we'd like to wait at least a year, but I'm looking forward to it.

Yeah - I know - thing is, with my heart murmur, worrying is really not a good thing - as my mum keeps telling me that I am going to be in an early grave (thanks mum(!) ) I am just hoping that once the move is done with I will calm down and chillout a bit more - I would just love to be calm and serene... Glad to see the free hugs are back!!! I'd look for another job - if they fire you then you've got a headstart, and if they don't, then you can get out anyway - I can't believe you had to sign a memo on how to clean your desk - what is this!? yeah, that bit's not the funnest :?

I was quite happy with what we did - big party the night before, and then off we went the next day biggrin.gif
and my parents joining us three weeks later (one week from now) meant we didn't have to say a big emotional goodbye to them smile.gif

The silly thing is you don't have to be brave or strong willed or anything. I've found with the all hardest things in life, they just creep up, and then are done. Exams, degrees, jobs, interviews and even visas. You just walk on the plane and then you're away.

I'll never forget when I left Charlie for the first time, after spending 2 solid months together. I got to the airport, and was suddenly on the plane, I heard all these Irish accents around me for the first time all summer, and reality came crashing in. But I'd done it already at that stage. I was on my way home.

Yeah and the worst part was when so many people just "knew" what my future would be and that I wouldnīt go back to Czech for at least 4 or 5 years, cuz I would be too busy or whatever else they came up with which is really helpful to tell that to a person who is gonna miss the home country and definately wants to come back earlier than in 4 or 5 years. That wasnīt really helpful during the last week when I was sad, so at the end I didnīt even feel like meeting too many people.

as far as the link is concerned, I think there are a LOT of tongues in cheeks in that thread, and a few mouth-breathers like the immortal zqt who can't tell wink.gif

" '...is the system too open, or too restrictive?' zqt: YES"

laughing.gif

as far as the other - I dunno, I take the point about things just happening, but I still think there's a level of bravery involved... I don't think any of us should overdramatise it, but I don't think we should short-change ourselves either; we all made a pretty difficult decision, and then chipped away at the big mountain of obstacles until we could achieve what we wanted... I think there's all manner of good stuff there smile.gif
