Welcome to the US STP!! Glad things went well at the airport.

WELCOME STP!!!! now what about those wedding plans??? inquiring minds want to know!

@Aly - hang in there, only a few more weeks to go and then whatever stress you have you can handle it together - in the same time zone and everything! it will make all the difference in the world - pun intended!!!

@Marta - we have not heard anything on AOS either.....not even touched since biometrics on April 3rd, no transfers, notta sad.gif we do have EAD and AP, but I agree its hard to watch other march filers get interviews and approvals when we haven't heard anything. hopefully its our turn soon. We are hoping to go back to london for a visit next easter, which should really be no problem, but then you see these people who have been waiting for their GC for like 2 years and I get a little freaked out that it could happen to us.....

YAY!!! I can't remember where in Cali you live though... I know it is kinda... norther than me laughing.gif That's not too hard though biggrin.gif Might be a bit of a commute if I decide to visit from time to time, but it can't be worse than the commute from the UK biggrin.gif

...

*hugs for everyone on the thread*

smile.gif

w00t!! SOOOO good to hear from you!! And your post has basically confirmed that I don't want to ask for the stupid stamp anyway. Besides - I want to sit and enjoy some breathing space for a while as well!!!

PLUS!!! Have found out that the Palm Springs fair on Main Street (every Thursday night) has street vendors but the clause is that the things being sold have to be hand made by the vendor... So I can *really* take off on my jewellery idea!! I want to take a bit of time to really develop something good though but then I can sell it there!! How awesome would that be!?! I am totally made up about it!!

Ohhh StP - I missed you!!!! I can't wait to come visit!!!!

Ohhh StP... how we missed thee wink.gif

fankies biggrin.gif

no one's rude to julez with impunity wink.gif

sounds GRAND about the street fair, Aly! you can spend some time making everything, and as soon as you're legal, you can sally forth with all your bits and bobs biggrin.gif

as for wedding plans - a wedding is planned laughing.gif
beyond that, there's not much to say at this point biggrin.gif
Jeraly
laughing.gif Yeah - well the idea is that if I get things up and running sooner, then there is nothing wrong with Jeremy sitting and taking the money tongue.gif Just nothing will be official until I have my EAD... grr wink.gif Now *that* might be worth asking for a stamp laughing.gif
Jeraly
Just booked our train tickets to Heathrow!!! EEEEPPPP!!!!!!!!
StillThePrettiest
huzzah!! biggrin.gif

yeah, you could do it that way... and I would still ask for the stamp; who's it going to hurt? a different officer may well have a different answer smile.gif
and if you don't get it - well, the sitting around the house thing is quite nice after the months and months of stress and hassle wink.gif

I love that word! It always makes me think of my sophmore year highschool English teacher!! He was a very funny guy!

Anyhow, we have an offer being made on yet another house today. I am trying to keep myself calm, cool and collected about the whole thing. Not succeeding very well, but I am trying! No clue when the offer is being presented today, so I'm just playing the waiting game. Fingers crossed that this house isn't structurally defective, since it its also an old home (Old by US standards, anyway - 100 years). I will be crushed if this doesn't work out.

Positive news - Griff got his EAD approved! No word yet on the AP.
rae_and_scott
Don't be crushed if it doesn't work out! I mean, I'm one of those people that likes to expect the worst so that when the worst generally does not happen I sorta feel okay. So my personal advice would be not to get your hopes up. But they prolly already are. laughing.gif

EAD? I thought Griff was retired? Or just retired from working in the UK? Well either way that's great he got it; the AP will probably follow shortly. smile.gif

My hopes? Up, but not as much as with the last house! Though, I am now happy about the other house since I really like this house so much more. The other house was much more a sell due to its fab location. The current house desire is actually much more suitable for our family, so that's why I will be crushed if it doesn't work out!

Yeah, Griff is technically retired, but he does want to work, at least part time. It will be good for him to get out and meet people - make his own friends and stuff. We need the AP more cos we're already booked in to go to the UK in July! I feel pretty sure we'll get it in time!
BabyBlueSusie
are people ever denied ap?? im just curious because it seems like you apply and then you get it...seems like its not a matter of if you get it, but a matter of when you get it...is that generally correct?
*julez*
I've never heard of AP getting denied. I suppose its within the realm of possibility, but can't imagine why anyone would be denied.

I've been watching in the AOS forum and it seems like people get EAD and AP at the same time, which may be the case for Griff, but since we can't get the status of his AP online for some reason we'll just have to wait and see if it turns up in the mail.

So, Susie, are all the wedding plans finalized? You must be so excited that the big day is nearly here!! You must share pics and be more timely about it than I was!! laughing.gif

BabyBlueSusie
yessssssss i am soooo excited, but yet there is sooo much left to do!!! looks like the reception is shaping up to be about 70 people or so...not as bad as i had anticipated, but still more people than i would like...looks like i wont have to buy nearly anything for our new apartment, because the registry is emptying out pretty quickly...not that im checking it everyday or anything whistling.gif

im going to have a spa day this saturday with four of my close friends and my cousin...i cant wait!!

Ohhh sounds wonderful Susie!! I am sooo jealous! We were looking at spas in Palm Springs and they are sooo expensive that I can't see it being on the cards for a while... maybe I will just talk Jeremy into learning all the techniques wink.gif

And still only one thing bought from our registry sad.gif But then the reception isn't until the end of next month and we *did* say we weren't expecting anything and that it was just a formality wink.gif Silly me! laughing.gif

CONGRATULATIONS!

One less thing for you to worry about now. Although I'm sure you'll soon find something else to replace it. tongue.gif wink.gif
Jeraly
Yeah - it is a HUGE weight off my mind!! Now we just need to find out if we need to change Jeremy's flight and then all the big stuff is kinda sorted - it's just practical things then like selling stuff and bits and bobs like that... But we have somewhere to live!! Woohoo!!

I'm gonna be living in Palm Springs!! Now where is that Brits in the USA thread!? biggrin.gif
rae_and_scott
Aly that is such great news!! It's good not to be homeless and stuff. yes.gif
Jeraly
LMAO! Yeah - I'd say Rae!!!!

We have a spangly new phone number as well now biggrin.gif
StillThePrettiest
Dave has got us a Skype phone, and for an extra $2 per month he's registered a local number in each of London and Sydney... people can call us on their normal house phone (or mobile, whatever) and it costs them the price of a local call, but they talk to us in Texas biggrin.gif

I still can't get over the wonderment biggrin.gif

technology is so amazingly cool!
StillThePrettiest
I'm not sure, Susie... I think there's quite a long list, and probably growing, but I don't know who's on it and who's not

and yes, technology is ACE biggrin.gif

I don't know how my great-grandmother did it, letting her Brummie fiancé go ahead of her to Aus, and being separated for three years, and writing letters that took six months to come and go blink.gif

the budgies were all labelled 'parakeets' in the pet store! but they're an Australian animule, so I told Dave that as an Aussie I know what they're called, thankyouverymuch, so they're budgies biggrin.gif

the one I saw yesterday, which I HOPE is still there this afternoon when we go to buy one, is powder blue and pretty, like this:
