congratulations, even though im just using context clues here to gather that this is a good thing...do all cases get transferred from the lockbox to one of the service centers? does this mean there is movement (the first step towards being approved?), and that is why you are excited?

well, you were sort of right... I wasn't around here today because I was out for lunch with my workmates biggrin.gif

wasn't really supposed to be there today but I had stuff to finish off... so very little got packed today unsure.gif

A transfer to CSC is a good thing as it typically means that you are on the fast track to AOS - you will not be called in for an interview! So, it means the green card will be here faster! biggrin.gif

I believe what it means is that they won't have to do another interview b/c it got transferred across the country. I think normally hers would have gone to VSC. Am I right on that? Either way, congrats Julez. biggrin.gif

Aww...don't be nervous! its the start of a new life and it WILL be great! Plus, once you are state side it means you are that much closer to meeting me in person!! laughing.gif

Congrats Julez biggrin.gif

Do you know if you get the green card before your second anniversary you have to remove conditions.... Do you still have to do that even if you get the green card after the two years? And do people often get their green card before the 2 year mark? unsure.gif Only cos I just found out that it's another $500 to do that cray5ol.gif

You know... I think now is the time for me to start visiting the AOS forums. I have stayed away till now as I didn't want to confuse myself wacko.gif laughing.gif But I keep getting little surprises, so I really think I should begin preparing. rolleyes.gif
Ovaltine Jenkins
The first 2 year GC is a conditional one and everyone who has that has to remove the conditions. I donīt think it has anything to do when you get it or anything about your anniversary. You should remove the conditions in the 90 day window prior to the 2nd anniversary of the issuance of the greencard, that is before it expires smile.gif
Ovaltine Jenkins
Congratulations to the transfer Julez smile.gif Thatīs great biggrin.gif

As to when people view their stuff online it varies so much. Our EAD and AOS were online the day we did the biometrics but AP is still not online and therefore I donīt think it ever will tongue.gif Maybe it goes online when they touch it smile.gif
StillThePrettiest
thank you, Julez; I AM looking forward to meeting you smile.gif

but I meant I was getting nervous about the packing... it seems everyone wants a piece of me right now, and while that's lovely on one level, it's panic-inducing on another unsure.gif

plus I had to say goodbye to my good friend at work crying.gif
Ovaltine Jenkins
Oh and I noticed that they also slack behind with the removal of conditions and sometimes people donīt get their next (10 year GC) in time before the first one expires and get it like 3-6 months later. Then technically it means that people have to apply for another EAD if they wanna continue working. But Iīm not sure about that. But it makes sense cuz if your GC is expired it means you donīt have a work permit. But then the question is if you apply for another EAD if it actually gets to you soon enough. Or I dunno, just thinking loud here tongue.gif
Ovaltine Jenkins
Oh and itīs not funny if you forget to remove the conditions in the 90 day window cuz then they might start the process of removing you from USA or something so put it in the calendar smile.gif

Poor STP has to give lotsa goodbyes now sad.gif But we know she is strong and everythingīs gonna be great biggrin.gif And I am sure you will stay in touch with your friend and that you will see him or her again in future smile.gif

Donīt worry, it will all work out Iīm sure smile.gif I just read another post from a girl who has been waiting for over a year for the conditions to be removed. So what do you do when your old GC is expired and new one doesnīt wanna arrive for so long? I assume you need another work permit unsure.gif
Poiteen
Biometrics sounds scary to me unsure.gif then again, I didn't even like giving my fingerprint at the interview (and refused at disney wacko.gif ) so i think I'd run screaming from a biometrics appointment wink.gif
Ovaltine Jenkins
Haha smile.gif Whatīs so scary about it? If you found the other ones scary these ones will be even scarier for you cuz first they are much more thorough and second since they are so thorough the girl will be grabbing your hand and turning it and touching it all the time and pressing it on the screen. Itīs not like you only touch the screen yourself like you are used to tongue.gif

it was the first time in my life i had to give fingerprints, and I really hated it. I just hate the thought of having my fingerprints or DNA or iris scan on a govt file. It creeps me out. sad.gif

I know they already have my past addresses, jobs, medical info, but somehow biometric info seems more personal. I can change my name, I can move somewhere else, but my fingerprints will always be the same. Besides the only reason they would have my fingerprints in the UK or in Ireland is because I was convicted of something. Seems like being an immigrant you are treated the same way as a criminal by the US govt. sad.gif
Ovaltine Jenkins
But I just noticed you are going for CR-1/IR-1 smile.gif I donīt think you will have to go do any biometrics here. These ones are for those of us who are doing AOS now and with CR-1/IR-1 I donīt think you need to do AOS cuz you should get a 10 year GC in the mail a couple of weeks after POE and it should be all automatic smile.gif
Poiteen
well, since i'm going for CR-1 I won't have a biometrics at first, but I will need to do one to remove conditions in 2 years, so yeah I'm saved one trip to the chopping block tongue.gif
Ovaltine Jenkins
So thatīs ok smile.gif You have plenty of time to psychically prepare yourself for the torture biggrin.gif

I kind of agree with your viewpoint and it would creep me out a bit too (but I'm the USC so I don't have to do it). I guess it is just a necessary evil.
Poiteen
yeah, I know it's worth it and all that jazz. I didn't want to have the HPV vaccine and I swallowed that one too, just all seems a little OTT is all. My OH has residency here, and they've never even seen him in person, let alone take his fingerprints. blush.gif
rae_and_scott
Yeah, unfortunately the US is just extremely xenophobic at this moment in history. It sucks. sad.gif I have a feeling my OH is also really not gonna dig having his fingerprints taken.
Ovaltine Jenkins
Well itīs not like I am a huge fan of all the fingerprinting but on the other hand if it helps our safety then itīs another matter. I believe if Canada or any other country were in the same position like USA and if certain incidents happened in our home countries like they happened in USA our home countries would start having bigger security checks too. Or not? unsure.gif

Yeah I sometimes feel like they are doing too much trying to secure their country... u can just never be sure about things... About your statements with the other countries. Germany just started having new passports, for which u need to do a fingerprint whatever as well... so its not only the U.S. thats using fingerprint proof... whistling.gif
Ovaltine Jenkins
Yeah, in CZ they are seriously discussing new passports with chips in it now but they arenīt sure about what biometrics data it will include yet...they wanna start with that next year. I heard that in UK they apparently started collecting DNA of all arrested people, not only of the charged or convicted ones. And that comes after they lost all the info of people who receive child benefits or what... unsure.gif
