Panic over! Housekeeping found my passport, and Fedex will deliver it in the morning!
So, on with the whole immigration report...
I left home at 6.15am on saturday for my 9.30am flight from Heathrow to JFK with Virgin. My bags were bursting at the seams, but I had weighed them, and was prepared to pay the 50 pounds excess weight charges. However, I wasn't prepared for them to limit the weight on my hand-luggage case to 6 kilos (ridiculous), so I had to use the "just in case" hold-all, and repack everything. No biggie, but it meant I had to rush through security, and was the penultimate person on my flight. It was FULL, but a very nice flight none-the-less. I was seated at the back of the plane, so I was at the back of the immigration queue, and it took 1hr 15 mins to get to the front of the queue. Once I got to the front, I had a five minute conversation with the immigration officer, and he opened my visa packet, then sent me to another officer, who typed information into her computer for about ten minutes, then handed me back my passport with the I-94 stapled inside, and on the back of the I-94, is the red 90 day work authorisation stamp. An hour and a half total. Marty had been waiting for three hours though, as he made it up to JFK quicker than expected. We got into my new car(!) and used my new Tom-Tom to get into New York and find our hotel (Isn't he great...) We had a lovely weekend, then drove down to Baltimore yesterday. We HAD planned to get my social security card today, but I'll have to do that by myself tomorrow now, once I have my passport back! We went looking at plants instead! Let coupled life begin...
