I did. A few pages back. But since StP and I were actually separated at birth, it would be difficult to find anyone to marry us. I do wish him luck, but all the same, I think the best way to learn the NYC subway system is to get lost!
I remember my first week here: I was only 17. My mom's friend told me to take the A to its last stop. She usually drove so she didn't think to tell me that the A train splits up in Queens. I ended up in the Rockaways, going by the airport, over water, no clue where I was, close to tears... LOL It's funny now but it sure wasn't back then!
I'm sure Adriano will do fine though. How is he adjusting so far?

haha yea that A train is a little tricky, and the Rockaways, oh man they are weird...not convenient AT ALL...dont even get me started...i bet you were scared on there too, it goes through some shady areas, and the people on there even scare me sometimes! lol sometimes its entertaining though

i agree about the getting lost thing, even though i dont really know it first hand...i grew up here and have been taking the train alone since i was 11 (yea, we truly are badasses here in bk)...i definitely have had the experience of getting lost on the bus however...the trains are much easier for me, i dont know why...when i was a kid (about 10 or so), i took the bus for the first time all alone and when i got to where my school was, i didnt want to cross the street, and i naively thought that the bus would go down a few blocks, make a u-turn, and then drop me directly in front of my school (on the correct side of the street)...wow silly little kid...i waited about 10 minutes before i asked the old lady next to me, and she said that i better get off now lol i walked about a mile back to school, and never made that mistake again!!! that wasnt the last time i got lost, but it definitely left an impression

And also when there is a loooooooooong post (the only thing written on the page) and they hit reply to this post instead of just hit reply and then it repeats all over again and then at the end there is their short "Congrats"

See but that's exactly what I mean! You never did it again after making that mistake. So Adriano is going to have to get lost. As will Scott, once he's here, though at least he doesn't have to deal with learning English too. That must make everything harder.

Y'know...back in the early days of the internet (*waves cane around*) it was considered bad form to post your reply at the bottom of a quote. The reason being is that if you were keeping up on the conversation, you really only needed to see the most recent reply. For anyone trying to catch up, they just had to scroll down for as many quotes as they'd missed.

If you think about it, the way we do it now is counter-intuitive. In long lists of quotes you're always scrolling to the bottom. Which leads to calls for people to please trim their quotes, etc.

That was the early old days of the internet when only 3 people had internet in town so there couldn´t have been that many different posters posting different stuff and there was no way you were going to get lost in the convo

well, but regardless, how many people are quoting because they're lost in the convo? face it: 90% of them are quoting because they're i) lazy and/or ii) ignorant of basic web skills

You'd be surprised. The early days of the internet saw some of the most epic threads EVAR. Granted, the flames and controversies typically revolved around what flavor of UNIX was best and "Brooke Shields: Would/Wouldn't" but there actually were some pretty big discussion groups. I sorta missed the old internet. We didn't have Google or YouTube, but we had Gopher and ASCII pr0n. Life was so much simpler back then.
