YAAAAY!!!! Looks like it's just you and me at the moment girly!!
Trying to figure out the whole AOS spreadsheet thing... thinking maybe it would be easier to put separate columns for AP/EAD - whatcha reckon? Also how do you freeze panes? I am highlighting the cells and selecting freeze/unfreeze panes but they still move! Grr!!

Don't laugh but I'm browsing cheese. I have a wee panic. I forgot the scottish cheeses for my cheeseboard for tomorrow evening/night/sunday morning's party. The burns night is not complete without it's scottish cheeseboard served late evening with a glass of Scottish bramble or elderberry wine! Got to have an emergency dash to Mellis Cheesemongers in Glasgow tomorrow and hope they can help. Ian the manager usually can. He's helped me out of a dinner cheeseboard pickle before, I have every faith he can do it again.

Ohhhhh yummy - I love cheese

Cheese and port... a nice camembert... or brie... or a good mature farmhouse cheddar...
You realise that most Americans don't seem to know Cheddar is so named because it originates from the place Cheddar, just down the road from me?

Jeremy was so surprised - he is also now a converted cheese lover - he never knew what I was on about until he actually tried *real* cheese!!
So any ideas on the spreadsheet? I should be writing my vows but...

cheese and wine are my 2 main vices. Nick always said he loved cheese so I took him to Mellis' in Glasgow, now it is a REAL cheesemonger, they mature various cheeses on site so the shop stinks but he loved it. I got him eating real cheese. He still won't drink winr though. Mainly as he doesn't drink at all. His choice and he doesn't mind me enjoying my wine and will join me with some alcohol free alternatives.
I need to work on my vows too but I don't even know where to start.

Hehe - it is all so exciting - I love hanging out with you guys - makes me feel less scared!!!
Have decided - on the spreadsheet am going to do the AOS/EAD/AP separately and highlight them different colours

Yay!!

Hehe!!
Ahh - parties on forums are confusing - you say something then you have 20 posts to read!!!

You know I haven't really thought much about AOS. I spent all my time concentrating on getting the K1 and moving here that I haven't even looked at what we need to do once we're married.
I'm going to get my SSN on Wednesday or Thursday so then I can start looking at bank accounts and getting a car and such. Not looking forward to re-learning how to drive though.

@ Debz - Hehe - we might have to do that - I'll give you a shout when I h ave actually looked at something!!
@Gillian - I am so going to be like that!! Although we want to get things done asap... purely because we don't have a lot of money so I need to get working asap... will be nice to put my feet up for a bit after all this is over though!!

It'll be fine - I am sure it can't be any more complicated than the K-1 process

Jan 25 2008, 02:18 PM
Alex is three years younger than me - 21; just a baby!
I thought (when we were friends, before we started dating) that the height difference (he is shorter than me) and the age difference would bother me, but, you know, it really doesn't.
The only problem is that people keep thinking we are high-schoolers.
Jeraly, since you're in California maybe you can answer this question for me - from what I've been looking at online, you have to both go in person to obtain a marriage license at least a month before your wedding. Is this correct?
Jeraly
Jan 25 2008, 02:19 PM
I imagine so if we get married in Cali - but we are going to get married in Vegas, NV so who knows?! I haven't got to that point yet

I'm hoping to get my visa by March/April (not sending packet 3 back til end of Feb/beginning March) so I can have a few months to figure out the UK celebration, the US wedding and the AOS stuff!! As well as organise my life to up and leave the country!!!

Jan 25 2008, 02:21 PM
I used to think that someone being younger than me was a big deal - I went out with older guys for a while and ended up with Jeremy - I don't have anything to worry about with height though as he is 6'4
Alex & Rachel
Jan 25 2008, 02:21 PM
Ah, no worries then. I don't need to know for a while either, but I figured I might as well ask while you were here!
I'm loving the Gertrude poll thread; I can't decide what's funnier - people's messages of condolences, or the clueless VJers wondering what's going on.
Jeraly
Jan 25 2008, 02:26 PM
I don't know how you keep up with it!! I have always meant to ask how people surf VJ... I mean everyone must have a specific style right?
Me, I tend to hang out mostly in the K1 updates and status section so I just refresh that. But when I am in work and it isn't busy I tend to mark all the other forums as read, check the threads I look at (mainly K-1, UK, Moving here forums) then mark them as read when I am done so I can just refresh the whole main forum page again to see what is new

New AOS sheet is looking pretty - going to be lots to keep updated but we'll start from scratch with the people who show their faces here rather than the original July list - a lot of people aren't very active or hang out with the July bunch

I jump around from forum to forum, mainly Off Topic, United Kingdom, this forum and the Polls forum, but almost any forum will do when I'm bored! I use firefox and have several tabs open at once. I also browse several other non-VJ forums. I guess I'm just a lightning-fast browser (usually a fast typer too, but right now I'm doing this one-handed).
Jeraly
Jan 25 2008, 02:32 PM
Haha - ok - in the meantime - check out the new AOS tab on the July spreadsheet

It's more to keep tabs on how we are all doing rather than use it as a measure like we have for K-1

Colour coded for easy use!!
Jeraly
Jan 25 2008, 02:39 PM

I forgot all about this happening today, sorry. I haven't caught up on everything, but here are some random additions of my own:
I am 15 years older than my Natasha.
I have seen "I Am Legend" and found it interesting, but oddly flat (especially in the last third), but I still enjoyed it.
I bought my plane tickets today for myself, Natasha, and her daughter Vika. Now I just have to find an apartment in Moscow for our stay.
I read the new topics on the home page first, then I usually read this thread, followed by the Russian thread.
Cheers!

Haha - this is kinda sick/cute depending on how you want to look at it. But when I want some wine or I ask Jeremy if he fancies opening a bottle or something, I'll ask, or he'll mention it then we look at each other and in unison say "whi-i-i-i-ine" in a whiny voice... it's really daft but it makes us giggle everytime...
Sad thing is, my brother and his gf have loads of cute stuff they do like that and I always found it really cool and wished Jeremy and I could find something unique to us - I guess it just develops though
