A thread on OT made me think we should have one in here so people can share photos of where they're from in the UK.

these images are from google because I don't have any on my computer at work but king edwards bay & the tynemouth priory were basically our front yard. our flat us just over the road from the sea and is the view out our front windows.

I'm from The Wirral, Merseyside. Most of my family are still there, but my sister is now in West Yorkshire. Other members of my family are now in British Columbia, Alberta, and Ontario.

The windmill on Bidston Hill, which we used to walk to....

Here's a panorama (warning: It's a large file!) of Sheffield:

And it's a little cheeky of me, but I'm posting photos of the Peak District because I try and get out there whenever I can (I don't have a car, otherwise I'd be there every weekend).

All within five miles of where I live - one of the great advantages to Sheffield.

oh those pics of the countryside are beautiful!

LOVE the Liverpool pic, Catrocks! And the Peak District! Not far from my sister in West Yorkshire! It's lovely there. Sigh. I need to start planning a visit.
Alex & Rachel
Yes - it really is beautiful! All I had to do was point and click the camera; the Peak District is picture-perfect. I'll certainly miss it, although this past year the weather's been so horrid that most of the times I've been to visit it's been too foggy to see very far.

Alex's parents have never visited the UK but they love hiking so I'm hoping that in a couple of years' time we'll all be able to take a holiday together in the Peaks or perhaps the Lake District.

Is it really bad that I have no idea where Birkenhead Wirral is? Looks a lovely place, though!
Krikit
Birkenhead is across from Liverpool:

Ah, thank you!

My knowledge of the North-West is really hazy; it took me years to learn where Liverpool was, and I used to think Blackpool was on the East coast!

I swear my geography is otherwise pretty good, though. blush.gif

I for the time being (2 months) live in NE Lincolnshire, here are some pics from my area -

I was the same before I moved up there. I knew where Liverpool was because of my family being there, but I had no idea where York, Newcastle and Carlisle were (to name a few!). I travelled around the last few years so I managed to figure it out!

Ah, there's nothing to match a British pub or an old church! I find them fascinating. I'm not religious but if I visit a village I just have to visit the church! The same goes for an impressive city cathedral.

Churches in villages as opposed to towns are especially interesting because they're so often the centre of the community, with many social events being held in them.
Krikit
I love all these pictures. luv.gif

I love all the pics too!
