This is difficult to answer. I am both surprised but, then again, no at the amount of sexual content on this site. This site caters to people in distance relationships. Many people need to vent a whole lot as, well, being apart causes a whole lot of frustration and especially of the sexual variety. Misery loves company. Once the ball gets rolling, it's much easier to push it faster than attempt to stop it. And when you are safely hidden in cyperspace, it just makes it even easier to join in for kicks and giggles. Is it inappropriate? Hmmm... This may be a family based immigration site, but I don't see any kids around. I don't believe in censorship. I believe in turning the channel, closing the book, or visiting a different internet site.

I think Jeffery put it right. Sex is a normal, necessary part of any healthy relationship. It is of significant interest to most people. It is, has been and will continue to be a favorite subject for all of humanity. It is essential that we talk about it, especially on a relationship site.

I said "yes." We can pick the threads we participate in, but I think it can be really inappropriate when someone responds to a non-sexual post with a sexual innuendo joke. Actually, I might not have a problem with it if it were funny, but usually they're pretty sophomoric. That might not be my sense of humor, and I bet there are others who tire of those jokes, too. I'm not a prude, I just prefer jokes that are funny.

nothing wrong with sex or discussing it but the trash talk is getting ridiculous. These aren't discussions, they are
trash comments intended for the loudest laugh and make the poster look ...ehem...well for lack of better word trashy.

I agree. No need to disrupt the flow of a serious topic with unrelated comments because they tend move the topic away from the subject the poster had in mind.
On the other hand, if the topic is sex related I think all jokes are fair. Sex related issues can be uncomfortable to discuss and some comedy relief is often welcome and even helpful to move the topic along.

I agree. There are threads that have obvious titles to let you know not to participate if you are not into the subject being discussed. But I get annoyed when people bring it into every thread possible it seems. It gets very old. I probably am a prude though(but I don't care if I am). I don't like talking about that stuff or hearing/reading about it on VJ. Most of it is TMI.

I don't think I reported that. I've reported stuff a couple times but I don't think that was one of them. I'm really reluctant to report people because I feel strange "tattling" about behavior I didn't like. It's not illegal to be an a$$hole, even if it violates TOS.
So yeah, we're all adults. While that means we should be able to "handle" sexual material, it doesn't mean people have developed an adult level of taste. And yeah, I have a problem with that.

Really? There's a lot of people who read and either don't post, or only post sporadically. So we don't know what they think or feel. And I guess that doesn't affect us because they are silent.
But it speaks volumes about what people overall probably think of the site. As far as many behaviors are concerned.

I find it to be a bit insulting, actually...I'm hardly puritanical, yet I believe some things shouldn't be said. Calling people puritans to me kinda discounts the opinion as not as valid. Like

I made a generic comment; it wasn't directed at any one person.
The question was "Do you feel there is an inappropriate amount of sexual content on Visajourney.com?" NOT "Do you think SOME of the sexual content on VJ is over the line?" Hell, even *I* agree that some of it is WAY over the top. But that wasn't the question. My point was that pretty much only a Puritan could think that there is too much sexual content on VJ in general. ie: it's maybe 1% of all posts here.
