That's how I feel. Nothin' prudish about that. There's actually a sizable percentage of the people on VJ who laugh at Charles's jokes -- that never used to be the case.

My little 7 year old was sitting on my lap when that nasty pic came flying up on the screen and I seriously thought she was going to get sick! That's all see talking about for a day. Kinda traumatized me too! I guess I'm going to have to scroll through VJ more quickly......this morning she was sitting her and started reading...."I GAVE HIM SEX!" I about died!

It's quite obvious you know nothing about kids. I don't want my kids to have to grow up quicker than society makes kids grow up today. I don't want my kid gonig to school and saying that she read something with the word "sex" in it. Kids have no clue what the words they hear mean so they will repeat it and ask others about it. I have morals, that's all.

I know quite a bit about kids but I don't think they should be sheltered from the word sex even at age 7. It's a major part of life and our society. I'm sure kids at school have already said something about it. I'm not really into argueing though especially through a forum. Sorry if I offended you but I did not and still do not see the remark as inappropriate. It may have been inappropriate if I actually went into detail.

Kids can find anything on the internet - far far far worse than anything they're likely to see on VJ. I'd say this forum is pretty mild comparatively...

Inappropriate pictures aside - can young children read and understand unfamiliar words they see flashed up once on a forum message? Can they even read and understand the forum messages anyway?

my kids can but they're 10 and 11. At a younger age I can remember a similar scenario to aymerlu's and I was mortified but this was on a different website forum.... after that lil fiasco I stopped having them sit on my lap while I browsed the net. lol. Now if they happen to glance over my shoulder and see the word sex or something on this or other forums they just say "ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh they wrote SEX!!!!".

I would say that since I've been on this forum, a little more than a year and a half, it's never really been appropriate for children. I think you can expect a good amount of sex talk here.

How ironic is it that it's only a few members that talk about sex on a daily basis? Hey, I like sex too, but I don't feel it's necessary to talk to screen names on a forum about it. If I wanted to hear about sex every day I'm sure I could find a sex forum to join.

Or at least you could know what threads to avoid in the past b/c the titles would be more obvious. Now you can almost expect some perverted comment in any thread, even if it's about the most mundane subject. You want to post a comment and by the time you get to the last page, it's a thread about weird sex stuff. That is what annoys me. You open a thread with a normal sounding title, and you never know what picture is going to show up all the sudden. Some at least give a link that says "not safe for work", but some give no warning. I didn't join VJ to see nasty pics.
