Good luck. We filed our I-129F at NSC when it was the slowest Service Center in the country. Now here we are at CSC which seems to have that honor, at least with citizenship apps.

We filed in January

1/05/08 - N-400 sent to NSC
1/10/08 - NSC cashes check

Marilyn and Peter.
jilanik
Originally submitted in Dec, but failed to sign. Re-submitted on Jan 6th, they got it today. I guess I now belong to the January filers.

Rant: I am annoyed that USPS took 8 days to mail priority parcel from Las Vegs to Los Angeles---400 miles away!
jennybirgitta
I filed mine today to California Service Center.
nscvet
Well, they got our check. Somebody is doing something at CSC.

jennybirgitta
Received and check cashed. That was quick.
AMAKA
I file N-400 at the Texas center on 1/3/08. Check was cashed on 1/8/08. noa1 recieved on1/18/08. Notice of action state i will be notified within 240 days

Add my wife to the list: 01/21/2008

Simple form with a Check, no photos.......

patricks
Follow up........
Luckily, I found the checklist before mailing:

In addition to $675 check and signed application (N-400), I enclosed the following:

2 recent passport photos, with name and A# on back
Photocopy of my US passport photo page
Copy of both sides of 10 year Green Card
Copy of marriage Certificate
Copy of our daughter's birth certificate (don't have an official tax receipt?)

Now, it's ready to be sent off, or is it?

I like them too now. I hope this means the rest of the process is speeding up. The Bio appointment is in downtown LA. Last time it was in Van Nuys which is easier to get to at 8 a.m. But I'm not complaining. Good luck to you.

You're right, checked the mail. It was there! Biometrics appointment set for Feb 7th.

By the way, when you put in your application # into the USCIS.gov's search box does it come up as invalid saying it has to be 13 characters long? Mine starts with WSC*0.... I don't think it should have the * in the application #.

I read some other posts about that asterisk and I believe it is supposed to be entered. I tried with it and without it and could not get on. The one for the I-129F never got updated, but I had no problem with the I-751.

Me Too! Well, Here is my timeline.

01/30/2008 Mailed N400 to VSC. So, barely a January filer :-)
SameOldGuy
If you read the testimony from the head of the USCIS,you will know the average process time for N-400 has been prolonged from 7 month to 18 month. Conseqeuntly, the ETA of Citizenship for January 2008 filers will be around July of 2009.
In this case, all January 2008 filers will not be able to participate the vote for US President of 2008 on November.
So, be peaceful! Just put this out of your mind as long as you have your fingerprint done like I did and review this one year later.
Good luck.
cmartyn
Check Cashed! We are on our way. That was quicker than I expected. nThey actually put it in the bank on the 4th, So they got it on Saturday and deposited it on Monday.
nscvet
Fingerprints taken as scheduled at the ASC office in downtown Los Angeles. The office does not officially open till 8 a.m., but they opened the door at 7:30. It was first come, first served as people walked thru the door. After filling out the required form a line was formed still in the original order in which people had come thru the front door. At 8 they began processing and the total time was less than 15 minutes. It was not a bad experience, but they would not let anybody else into the waiting area so dress warmly. It can get cold leaning up against a building in the early morning, even in L.A.

Good advise. Thank you.

I forgot my green card at home, so I had to rush back home. Made it 10 after 8, they let me in. I was done by 8:30. Pretty good I must say. Staff was very courteous.

Next step awaits, waiting for the interview letter.

I have almost the same timeline as you are, CMARTYN (well actually my husband is), except his fingerprint appointment is scheduled on 28th.
cmartyn
Well, we have to reschedule. Unless you want to trade dates :-) I am sending the reschedule letter tonight. My wife is traveling on business that week and this is the lesser of two evils.

Question for the January 08 group:

We just moved to our new house, it's 2 streets down from were we used to live (same zip code). Long story short, it was a good deal so we bought it. We will be renting out our previous home, so technically we still own it but won't be living there.

Do I need to do the change of address with INS? And if yes, would that cause further delay in the citizenship process?

I would do it just because you want to make sure that any mail comes to your correct address. Then again, it always seems that address changes can be hit or miss. wacko.gif blink.gif One other thing you can do is change your forwarding address with USPS so you'll receive all mail. Then, when you go to your district office, give the IO your new address - they can punch it into the computer right there.

Good luck!

01/21/2008 Filled out N-400 paperwork

02/22/2008 Biometric Fingerprints taken

For what it's worth I was told once by an immigration attorney that if my wife and I moved, in addition to filing the AR-11, we should also send a letter to the address on her receipt to report the address. She could follow up by either calling the USCIS National Call Center 800 number or scheduling an Infopass appointment at the nearest USCIS to confirm they have changed the address in the N-400 processing database. Apparently there are no problems about moving if it is before the interview.

Got a letter from USCIS saying my address has been changed. It was mailed to the new address. Should I still make an appointment with infopass for my local office or all is well?

I doubt that would be necessary in your case. After all, you only moved to a different house in the same city so your district office did not change. Probably be a good idea to take the USCIS letter with you to the interview though, if and when you ever get one.

Keep smiling.

Our poor thread is halfway down page 4 :-(

Had the biometrics done today. And now we wait.

And wait and wait and wait...

My timeline:

Sometime Dec 07: mailed N400 to NSC
12/26/07: received date
1/26/08: fingerprinted
my notice paper said "expect to be notified within 180 days" so does that mean they'd process mine in 180days just becuz I sent my application less than a month before you?
