I think I've seen a couple of cases like that, USCIS dragged their feet on the NOA1 but then when they finally got it, the NOA2 came soon afterwards.

My husband called USCIS today to inquire about our I-129F because it's been a month and we haven't got NOA1 yet.The person he talked to said she was surprised to have found the application at all because it wasn't supposed to be sent to Vermont but California instead.I don't know why she acted surprised when our I-130 was sent there from Chicago lockbox.She said they can work on it since the are not that busy.Anyhow,she found the application and said that we should expect NOA1 to arrive in a couple of weeks because of the holidays.We had two touches on our I-130 and it wasn't because they put the two applications together as I thought.

no touch and no NOA1 for i-129f either, i hope the Vermont center speed up their process soon.

Hi I registered on USCIS website... where do I see the "touch" showing up? Is it the "LAST UPDATED" field?
I just got to NOA1, but I have a "last updated" 5 days after the NOA1 date... Is that a touch?? ;-)

This is what it says on the web:

Note on "Last Updated" date:
Your case may have a new "Last Updated" date and you may receive an Email Notification of your case being updated, without the status of the case changing. This is due to internal USCIS processing being performed on your Case. This will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date, but may not result in a different status message.

What could "updating" mean?

Just as it ought to be in a great civilized nation!!!

10 months for processing is a shame. They should invest more resources into this. I mean, they even raised the fees!! Future residents will create $$, not all will be just a cost! So why not improving the bureaucracy, and having more temps in those data entry seats? I hope they are finally catching up with the August problems, and that the new filers are fewer, put off by the increase... They say that 50% of the weddings are fake: who knows, perhaps the costs involved, procedures and time will dissuade some from trying! ;-)

Sorry about my ranting.... It's been only a few days from my NOA1 and I am already impatient!!! I want my NOA2!!!!!!

RickieAndEva, you are right. I checked the Showtopic that Brian&Mel indicated. Contrary to the posted information, the VJer in question did not have her petition approved in 42 days. She has been a member of VJ since March 2007 and her approval came from the notoriously antiquated Texas SC. If anything, her approval took more than 365 days. So much for quick approval!!

Hmmmmm...but when I check their timeline, it clearly indicated there their I-130 was sent in January. 42 days is a bit unrealistic in a way.

But anyway, we are "patiently" waiting for our NOA2 and all we can do is just wait!

No touches since 2/19...been checking everyday or waiting for the update email!

Oh well, we'll see!

All,

I saw there was some previous discussion of a January filer getting their I-130 approved and there being some debate about when that occurred. I was looking at the spreadsheet prepared by one of the VJers (I forget the username) of filing dates and time till NOA2. The address for the spreadsheet is: http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pUr...RR7hdWQYg3KbwRg . From this spreadsheet, it appears as if one February filer, FSUmome, has gotten her CR-1/IR-1 NOA2. I know when my father applied for the CR-1 visa for my stepmother, it took only 4 weeks to get NOA2 due to outside circumstances. I would not get my hopes up on these things. USCIS (INS at the time) makes exceptions for special cases with special circumstances. Up till now, it seems about 2/3rds of September filers and 1/2 of October filers have gotten their NOA2. This spreadsheet is probably the best indication of when we can expect our NOA2s. The person who updates it does so very regularly so this is probably the best thing to keep an eye on. I check this every few days as it provides more insight than touching. Sorry to be the pessimist. Probably 2-3 maybe 4 more months to go.

it doesn't matter k-3 or ir-1 cr-1, as long as they approve them at the appropriate time.
the uscis seem to be moving faster now, i think our journey will not be delayed.

I see that they are approving quite a few K-1s at VSC, but hardly any CR-1s in March. I just wish the process were a lot more transparent and that they were a lot more accountable for their work. With Gonzalez stepping down next month (potentially to save his reputation), we really have no idea what could be going on...I've lost all faith in USCIS. I'm putting more emphasis on prayer now.

Good luck to everyone. I hope that time makes everyone's family stronger...I honestly do not believe that adjudicators see the faces behind the receipt numbers, so it is up to us to keep the faith and remain strong in our relationships, despite the craziness in a system that is supposed to focus on reuniting families.

Hey guys lets just give it time for NOA-2 approval I think that it will be fine ...weve become so close ...it was clear from the begining tha tis whole process cause for patience and time .....we are here for each other and the spread sheets indicate that our cases oare on the right track ...until
USCIS tells me it's a no go ...I plan to patiently allow the Goverment a chance to see this thru
and it tells you in any govt notes ...this takes times ....Trust God because it's working ...maybe not
quickly as one might wish but we will ge there ...I'm certain of this YODA 1165

Got a touch today 03/25/2008. I've checked my portfolio everyday for the past month and was expecting to see the same dates again. Funny how a change in a date can give hope until I started thinking I'd probably get a RFE in the mail next week; maybe not. Maybe it just fell into the floor and they had to put all the pages back in order except for the 1st page of the I129f form which is still under their coworker's desk.

There is no touch for our case after NOA1. Terrible.

Got quite excited at one of us at VSC getting a touch and I ran to the website ..... low and behold .... still no touch

I'm jealous of your touch. I don't think anything has happened in quite a while with I-130s at VSC...it's like a standstill. It's frightening and it could be much worse than what we or congress are aware of. Why else would Gonzalez be stepping down.

Checked again today and it shows today's date 03/26/08:

02/24/2008 I130
I guess this is what everyone is calling touches? I login and check my portfolio every evening but really haven't expected to see any changes yet. I submitted the I-130 last fall but it was returned because of some silly errors I made. I don't think that would matter since I didn't receive the NOA1 until 02/12/2008.

I have email notifications turned on but haven't gotten any emails from USCIS.

I sent my I-130 this past December but my NOTICE DATE is January31, 2008, so I guess this is my group unless someone can correct me and direct me to the right group.

I am a bit confuse about the USCIS processing dates because all I see for the I-130 is back to August 19, 2007. In other words, I have to wait for the list to show January 31, 2008 to get any hopes?

We are already married, so is a relative that I am requesting the Visa for.

My NOA1 wasnt until this month because I had forgotten a signature the first time I sent it and they sent it back to me. Im so hoping this is good news, the waiting is so hard.

Jan. filers cheer up! One Dec. person who filed on 12/24 at CSC get approved today! I ask question there asking if he gets any touch before approved. Sounds like no touch after NOA1.
Maybe it's our turn next month.

But what I dont understand is how is this happening? The USCIS are supposed to sort applications in order received. The USCIS received our I-130 petition on Sept 10th 2007 and we received NOA-1 on Dec 27th 2007. So how come approvals seem out of order? We dont have ours yet. We have a lawyer doing our paperwork so all should be in order and we have no requests for further information. So does anyone have any ideas as to what is going on at the USCIS. We are at the Vermont Service Center. Plus with the I-130 dates going backwards at Vermont I really have no idea when I should be able to join my wife in the USA. Any ideas?

You have my prayers Dave, I want to be with my husband more than anything. This system seems broken on so many levels. Ive had two touches on my 129F and I received a call from my congressman's office last night to inform me that Vermont may or may not have lost my I-130. I have the receipt number and it is showing as pending on the USCIS website but when my congressmans office called to check on it, they couldnt find it. I am supposed to wait while they determine if I have to resubmit it. Ive already heard of Vermont losing other peoples paperwork. My patriotism is taking some serious blows as I see more and more examples of inept people and an inept system.

It seems that CSC is working very quickly these days and also that those who filed for K-3 are getting approved much, much quicker (hmmm...wondering if we should have gone that route) but VSC seems to be seriously dragging it's feet or doing nothing at all on I-130s. ??? I am waiting for a response from my congressman's office but I just saw on the news that he is quitting June 1 to work at a law firm. Saying a lot of prayers these days....

Hey Rickie, we really understand .... the distance is getting quite difficult now, and the not knowing is making it worse. Limbo is a good word for this process.

Cornishman, I we have pretty much the same Timeline as you. Nothing happening for me either. Nothing...I can't seem to find any explanation anywhere. It's like the app fell in a big black hole and they forgot about it. I pretty much felt like I was alone VSE K3 time line with no one in my situation. Maybe one or two members with same situation lingering around visajourney that I saw were getting no where just like me. Its, as sad as it sounds, and by no means I want it to sound and be selfish, pretty comforting that there are more like me who are desperately trying to find an answer and are simply perlexed at the way VSC is running things. Anyway, keep in touch. Now there are at least two. Take care and good luck to all of us.
