As much as i wanted to help you, i also have no idea about the estimated times with this cr1 visa. and we have no choice but to do the CR1 coz we're not allowed to do the k3 becoz we got married in the US.

Now that most of us have completed the first phase of this long journey, has anyone begun considering the next step? I am not an expert on this matter, but have been told that there is a "James Shortcut" that will shave time of the next step. I have read the Blog and am not sure of all the details. Hmmm...I am wondering where did you read that you can't follow the IR1/CR1 route because you got married in the US. We got married in the US and we are now waiting for our I-130 approval. Or else you guys can file for your I-129 and abandon the K3 is your I-130 is being approved first.

Note to K3 Applicants: This process also applies to K3 Visa applicants whom have had their I-130 approved prior to their I-129f. In this case you may chose to persue the I-130 path as opposed the the K3. This will allow the immigrating relative to enter as a permanent resident as opposed to having to file for adjustment once here. If the I-129f is later approved and forwarded to the embassy then you can write them to request the approved I-130 be acted on and the K-3 process abandoned.

im sorry that you didnt understand my post,. what i was trying to say was, we cant do the k3 process, only the cr1/ir1, becoz the marriage took place in the US..

we got an advice from 2 immigration lawyers, one is based in Minneapolis, MN, and one i met in other fil-am based forum,. and they said that, we cant do the k3, but thats according to the lawyers..we're not really sure.

and even though we are allowed with k3, wont do it also coz the AOS process and fees are just too much..

but i hope that someone can clarify this..

I PMed Pushbrk and he said by all means look into it. And make sure we have the most updated version. We are just worried about the generating of the bar code, and making mistakes, which could be detrimental. We are at a point where we should get this stuff going.

congratz hambooso with the NOA1.

Jeca, we need you help to find which telephone number your husband called. We filed I-130 for wife and baby at the same time on 1/8 and get NOA1 for Wife on 2/8, we did not get NOA1 for baby even the check was cashed too. The numbers on the back of check is terrible and we fail to figure it out. Call 800 service but all the computer voice, no people serves there, we need some help on how can we find out the number. Thankyou for adding us to your timeline ..... we only found out today that our check had cleared and we're feeling quite good right now. Kip arrived back in the U.S. yesterday after spending a couple of weeks in England with me ..... not sure at this stage when we will see each other again .... hopefully soon.
I will let you know when the NOA1 arrives .... fingers cossed it will be quick.

We haven't tried checking online yet. Kip emailed me the back of the check but I have no idea which set of numbers we should use. There are none that start with letters. Just a lot of numbers which over lap.
Kip lives in Georgia so we thought it would be the Texas service centre, but I'm beginning to realise that I-130's don't go there anymore .... so, I don't know yet.
Do you know which set of numbers should be used from the back of the check?
The USCIS website says it must be 13 characters long, yet the only set of numbers which look useable is only 10 characters long.

I guess I should've checked my emails from Kip first ...... NOA1 has been scanned and sent to me!!! Amazing!!!
The case number is nothing like on the back of the check he sent earlier ..... have now checked the USCIS site, and the case is not on as yet ..... but, the bottom of the NOA1 say Vermont .... so, does that means it will be slow??

And does this help in the first part of the process, or can it speed things up while your case is pending?

(Sorry if I ask silly questions, but I'm trying to understand how this works and if we could use it. We have received NOA1 for I-130 January 22, and NOA for I-129 F January 30.)

You don't need to use jame's shortcuts if you want K3 visa.This is used only for CR1/IR1.

I understand this. But if I could get a CR1/IR1 earlier than a K3, that would be great and I would go for it.

I always thought Vermont worked quicker than California too .... I just glanced at the processing times via the link at the top of the page. California is stating it's dealing with I-130's from July 15th 2007 .... Vermont states it's dealing with those from June 6th 2007. I know the site was only updated January 15th 2008, but from that alone it looked like California was ahead a little.
Maybe because the January filers seem to be getting their NOA1's quicker than the Oct/Nov/Dec filers, maybe the rest of our stuff will go through quickly too ?

Me too!!!! And yesterday being US public holiday doesn't help either!

But I do hope the rest of us will get our NOA1 by this week and then the waiting game begins! I also hope that our case will be sent to Vermont or Nebraska for some reasons as their processing timeline is shorter! But then, I can only wish!

Hi.

I sent my I-130 on Jan 15 and received my NOA1 yesterday (Feb 18). I will be filling out the I-129F form and sending that in a day or two.

Can someone explain to me what's happening with the K-3 visa? Some messages on this thread indicate the K-3 won't be honored anymore? How is that possible? Where did you find that information? Also what is the CR-1 process and is that still possible after filing the I-130?
