The month is still young, but I thought I would create a January I-130 thread where we can give each other support, chart our progress, etc.
I just sent my I-130 today by Express Mail.
Any other January filers? Stand up and be counted!!!

Hi, yes, I too have just embarked upon this horrible process. I mailed my I-130 on Jan. 7 by FedEx. It was received and signed for 2 days later (the FedEx planes did not leave for Chicago on 1/7!). That is all I know for now.
I have done so much research on this - in fact, the lawyer I paid to look over my paperwork cut his price in half because he said I had done everything perfectly! - but even since then I have discovered so many things that could have been done differently.
For example, I just learned today that you should put your photos in a plastic bag. Didn't do that. Didn't photocopy the *back* of my birth certificate either - there is nothing on it!
And someone on this forum was saying that you could file the I-130 and the I-129 TOGETHER! Every other source I have seen plus the lawyers I spoke with all said you had to wait for the receipt of the I-130 to file the I-129. AARGH - it is frustrating that no matter how much research I do, there is always something new about this process.
Just trying to keep a sense of humor about it all.
Thank you for starting this thread! I had just logged on to do the same. I think we are going to need all the support we can get!
Cheers - and I look forward to getting to know you and others in the same boat over the next 6... 9... 12? months,
B.B.

Yes, I was thinking also of filing I-130 and I-129F together, assumed that's what everybody was doing now but on the advice of pushbrk(who seems to really know his stuff) and others decided to wait until the NOA1 for the I-130 or at least until the check clears. Didn't want to run the risk of having the whole package sent back. I might just file for CR-1 because the way I-130s are bogged down now there doesn't seem to be any time advantage to the K-3 and we would have to do AOS when he gets here, not to mention he can't work until GC/EAD which could take 6 months...

So for us personally(VMMV) I think the prudent thing is to just be patient and wait. The main timing issue is I want to be in KTM for his interview but if it ends up being a year from now then it will be possible - already asked my boss..

Hi everyone,
My husband and I filed I-130 on 01/18 and our I-130 was received at the Chicago Lock Box on 01/21.
And we are now "patiently" waiting for our NOA1. Hopefully it won't be too long.
We thought of going through the K3 process and now we are focussing on CR-1/IR-1 instead. The timeline between K3 and CR-1/IR-1 is almost the same. K3 used to be faster but not with all the backlog. And also, with CR-1/IR-1, there won't be any AOS and I will have my green card when I enter USA. On top of that, I would be able to work straightaway upon my entry.
Thought of hiring a lawyer before we found VJ, we filed on our own with the guidance of so many experienced members. This site is a blessing. Do check out the "Guides" link as it contains many instructions and tips.
Good luck everyone and I do hope that we will reunite with our other half in no time. This will be a long process but knowing so many of "us" out there make it a little easier.
See you guys around!

My husband called customer service to inquire about when to expect the receipt and they told him that he should wait up to 15 weeks to get it.They just told him what's already written on their website.I hope it doesn't take that long because we haven't filed 129F yet and we are not sure what to do next.If it takes that long for NOA1to arrives then there is no point in filing 129F.Well, we'll just have to wait and see.Good luck to all of you guys at your journeys.

Mailed I130 on 15th and it was received in the Tx processing center on the 18th. This is a resubmittal after making a mistake on signatures on the 1st submittal. It took 2 months to get the submittal back with the USCIS checklist indicating the reason it was rejected.
The check has not been cashed as of today, January 28th, 2008.

As of January 4, 2008, USCIS had completed initial data entry and issued receipt notices for applications and petitions except for I-130s (Petition for Alien Relative) which are being receipted at the Chicago Lockbox facility, as noted below:
Chicago Lockbox (as of 1/29/08)
Form Number Date Received

Great information - they are almost caught up! That's some small bit of encouragement.
But what do to once that receipt comes??? Is anyone who was going to try the K-3 route now reconsidering, based on the recent updates? [The updates being that: 1) The K-3 is *possibly* not even being honored any more and 2) it *could* even slow down the I-130 processing, even though they are the ones who *might* cancel the K-3 portion .... This new possibility seems to only affect those who of us who filed after the fee increases.]
I HATE that this is so arbitrary and we are all wasting so much time trying to guess what the procedures are.
I was planning to go K-3, as an extra $1010 is nothing compared to having to wait more months, but now I'm not sure what to do. Maybe I'll stick it out for the CR.
Anyone else having second thoughts on sending the I-129F?

It looks good, but I still don't see an accompanying number of NOA1's, at least here on VJ - I have the sinking feeling that we are looking at a 'pig in a python' scenario where even if the Chi lockbox is caught up, the service centers still are backed up and we won't see our NOA1's for 2-3 months - pleeeaaaase tell me I'm wrong....

My husband and I are determined to go through the CR1/IR1 route. We are not sending our I-129F in as apparently the processing time for both K3 and IR1/CR1 are similar.
So at the moment, we are just waiting "patiently" for our K3 approval. Can the present location of foreign spouse influence the time of the petition approval?
Any ideas?

Hi all,
I mailed my I-130 and I-129F together to VSC on 1/12/08. I chose the K-3 over the CR-1 because I've read that the wait time for interviews in Ciudad Juarez is significantly shorter for the K-3. Also, my wife has no immediate plans to work once she arrives in the U.S., so that wasn't a consideration. I've already received my NOA1 for the I-129F, but I've gotten nothing so far for the I-130, and my check for the I-130 hasn't been cashed.
Jeramie, that's nice of you to put together that list of I-130 filers. Please add me if you don't mind.

I wonder if the VSC sent your I-130 to the Chicago lockbox and that is why you are waiting with the rest of us for your I-130 NOA1. Very interesting that the I-129F received NOA1 already, my understanding is that you had to have at least had your check clear for the I-130 before filing the I-129, but since when is the USCIS known for consistency?? Very very interesting.

Just wondering if thats going to be a problem? i don't think it wld hurt to file the 129F as well (just more money)?

The month is still young, but I thought I would create a January I-130 thread where we can give each other support, chart our progress, etc.
I just sent my I-130 today by Express Mail.
Any other January filers? Stand up and be counted!!!

Chalk me in for about 1/7/08. Not sure on the exact date, but my attorney sent ours in the week before that and received delivery confirmation within a few days.

Thanks for throwing me up on your list. I'm in the Cr-1 category, right where you have me.

Anyone received their NOA1 yet? Or check being cashed???
My husband and I are getting really impatient (or at least I am). Been asking him to check the mail box and online bank account everyday to see whether the NOA1 is here or the check being cancelled.
Good luck everyone! Don't forget to keep us posted on any progress!

On this link, I see that as of 2/1, Chicago had "completed initial data entry and issued receipt notices" for I-130 petitions received up to 12/27:
http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...00045f3d6a1RCRDDoes this mean that in theory, if they got your I-130 in the mail on 12/27 you should be receiving your NOA1 shortly?

Please when you get a chance add me to the list. I mailed the I-130 for my wife on January 17th to the CSC. It was delivered on January 19th. We'll see how long this takes. Hoepfully not more than a few more weeks till NOA1.

Is this true? Or just to keep our hopes up?
there's still lots of november filers and december filers who's waiting for their NOA1 hardcopy (ATLEAST)...
but, who knows whats happening at USCIS...

I saw that, and I can't decide if it's a relief, or just more apprehension about whether mine is included in that or not. Should be, it was received 1/9.
Anyway, tomorrow I am leaving for Italy to meet my hubby, so for 10 days I will be free of obsessively checking my bank account to see if the check was cashed. I hope to return to many messages of success from all of you who had your checks cashed and NOA1 numbers, etc. (isn't it odd what we consider "success" at this point!)
Onward!
