I know taxes vary per state but I figure the overall is exactly the same. I am in WA so we have only Federal (no state).
Do you file taxes exactly like you would for anyone else? So instead of the USC filing single, now they will be filing Married Filing Jointly (or however someone wants to do it). You just enter the PR's w-2 and SS# and walla! ?? (obviously with the items in between). But basically the overall jist is as if a person who has never worked before (in this case, the US) and is now working (only since 2007) and filing taxes for the first time? Nothing special or different for Permanant Residents?
As a note: My husband only worked AFTER he received his greencard if that makes any difference.
