Make my maiden name a middle name and take his last name?

I would hate having more than 2 names. I cannot imagine having to sign anything that contains more than my name and last name.

First of all, I think you should ask your husband, as you are his property now!! (kidding!!)

5 names is too much, go with his last name only good.gif

laughing.gif you made him smile

Oliver pouts (literally, lip and all) when I mention making it a middle name just to keep it... and then in a puppy voice says : if you wanna keep it, it's okay........

I am only debating on keeping it b/c I am the only child of my parents and then the name vanishes here in North America (it's still in the family in Asia)....

I know it's not important.. but kinda makes me sad. I like wearing my dad's name...

My Security Blanket I guess...

my mom was going to do somethign similar with me!! Her maiden name was Robertshaw. She was going to call me Robert, then my middle name Shaw (Robert shaw C.......) but never did!!

Well I guess I am in the minority!

You said you feel bad about leaving your maiden name out entirely - so I say go for it! Might be a bit annoying to sign, but you might just enjoy it - it's a reminder of your family and your Husband (the newest member of the family) smile.gif

If you want to keep it, absolutely keep it! I keep meaning to change mine but 2 years later it still hasn't happened. whistling.gif Apparently in Quebec women don't take their husbands names (?) so D doesn't really care one way or another what I do.

But if and when I do, I plan on getting rid of my current middle name, making my maiden name my new middle name and then his name as my last name.
Krikit
I say keep it. You don't need to sign the full signature unless a document specifically requests it. However, legally it will always be your name so it's not as if you're really losing it. You can go back to it (or add it) anytime. So I guess I'm a fence-sitter here. Even though I voted to keep it. So maybe I'm not a fence-sitter. unsure.gif Hmmm. Note to self.... don't make any major decisions today. blink.gif

I also can't imagine having more than 3 names. Plus, it seems so weird to me to keep my maiden name as a middle name. It's just so foreign to me - never heard of that 'til I joined VJ.
But, it's up to you - if you want it then keep it. You need to satisfy only yourself.

Do neither and keep your own name? whistling.gif

That seems to say it right there. If you want to keep it, do so. You won't have to write it on everything.

Do it the easy was and just hyphenate your last name. Your signature will be the same as now just the added last name of your spouse after the hyphen.
Alex+R
keep everything. I have 4 names (and I didn't even add hub's name) and I usually only write 2.

Drop one of your middle names, make your maiden name a middle name and take his last name.

If I were you, I'd drop the F***. tongue.gif
