Hi Julia...hope you'll have a great time in Turkey! What city(ies) will you be visiting? We are returning for a visit next week also (March 20-27) and will be spending time with Ozzy's family in Istanbul as well as Antakya. I remember just this time last year we were going thru the K1 process and it all seemed like such an unlikely possibility. I guess I really didn't completely believe it would happen for us until Ozzy stepped off the plane this past September...so just keep the faith, you'll get there too smile.gif

Wendy...how have you been? Any word out of Athens?

Thanks for sharing that cookbook Awaterlily! It sounds great. Even though Ozzy does most of the cooking at our house these days (I am working semi-full time and doing my nursing clinicals in the evenings and he is just home more than I am right now)...I guess it would be nice if I learned how to make some Turkish dishes other than coban salatesi smile.gif

Congrats to everyone who has received recent approvals! We're keeping our fingers crossed for Ozzy's green card approval...we should be hearing from USCIS any day now...

Take Care All,

Tanya

Hi Tanya, Ozzy, and everyone.

No word from Athens. I did find out that they are working on June and July. Yilmaz dropped our waiver off at the Ankara Embassy on August 16, so maybe we will hear something in a couple of months. Hand to God, I hope it is good news when we do hear!!!

I am so happy for everyone. It seems like things are moving along for all of you. It is so nice to hear.

I wish you all continued success and peace.

Love,

Wendy

Congratulations!
Have you already found this link? It's the online version of packet 3: http://turkey.usembassy.gov/visa_forms.html
I emailed the embassy to find out which address they were going to ship packet 3 to and they suggested we just get the stuff from there since you have to submit all documentation and proof before getting an interview date. I suppose in theory it gets you a quicker interview date if you're already prepared to submit your file.

Cok tesekkur ederim! I am starting to see the light at the end of this tunnel now! I hope all goes well with the rest of our process.

Wendy - Crash diet is right haha! Time to start putting that treadmill of mine to some good use. smile.gif

Mina - How are you? You're right, this approval came right in time! Let's chat again soon.

Kennyandhandan - Yes! We did find that link a few weeks ago. Onur has already started working on getting his files together. We've got to figure out how to obtain his police clearance records from Famagusta, Cyprus, where he studied for 2 years. Anyone here have to do that before?

Thanks again to everyone for all of your support! I don't know what I'd do without VJ, and especially the fellow Turkish-American couples yes.gif

Take care everyone!

Hi Everyone! I enjoy reading all of your updates, especially as I am somewhat new here and just started the K1 process in November. I have a feeling our NOA2 is around the corner as CSC is finishing up October filers and moving onto November now. Insallah!

I'm dreaming of the day I can join you all in saying, "I can't believe Onur has been here in the States for 2 years now." Right now it all still seems like a bit of a fantasy and I'm plagued with all of the "what ifs," but I try to keep my mind free of that and just focus on the next step of the process.

I'm going to Turkey in less than 2 weeks - March 22 - April 1st. Hooray! It will have been 4 months since I saw Onur. Just too long!

Take care!

Perfect! I forwarded it to Onur and he got it good.gif He'll be going to Ankara tomorrow! And that's great that they will give it to you in English, so you don't have to worry about having it translated. Can you ask your husband if he remembers what he needs to bring with him? He can call them and ask what he needs to bring. Also, here's this:

I am going to write in Turkish; Ne zaman okudunuz bilmiyorum ama umarim muhaceret dairesinde ve polisde kayit yaptirdiniz cunku benim zamaninda cogu ogrenci yaptirmiyordu. belgeyi alabilmeniz icin muhaceret i yaptirmis olmaniz lazim. Hi Everyone,

Please excuse me if I cry a little here, but I guess this is where I should be when my husband has to go away for a little while to take care of his mother in Turkey again and be with others who are also missing their loved ones cray5ol.gif

I just got home now from dropping off my husband at the airport and it's always just so hard to separate, even if it is temporary as everyone here knows very well how that can be when they have to also leave their loved ones for a while too. It was an unexpect trip for my husband because his mother is not well and it's hard for my husband to have to suddenly leave everything to go back sad.gif I just hope that she will get well soon and I hope to see my husband back home soon too.

For now I wish to be here with everyone and keep myself busy with my work as it is starting to get busy now until I am with my darling husband again ClockWatch2.gif

Hello everyone....

I am asking if anyone has information on the interview process in Turkey. After the Embassey gets the packet do they call or send papers telling S.O. what to bring? what to do before the interview. Also can I call them from the US and ask about an interview date?

Hi Merk,

The Embassy will send your SO a packet with instructions. He will have to get a physical (from an approved doctor, the doctors will be in the packet). He should receive two packets. A packet with a checklist and instructions and then after he sends some of that information back he should receive another packet with the interview date.

I know that Yilmaz and I did not call the embassy. Yilmaz just waited for his packets. However, I know that some people didn't receive the last packet before the interview. You can download the papers that would be in packet four on the embassy website. You can also check to see if you have received an interview date on the embassy website. You can look for your case number (it should start with ANK or something like that, and then your number), on the list they put up (and update weekly usually) to see when your interview date is.

Let me know if you have any other questions, and I will try and remember or find out the information (it has been almost a year since Yilmaz's interview).

Hope everyone had a happy Easter. Spring is here (Mutlu Bahar!!)

Hi Mina - I hope you are doing well and keeping busy to pass the time until you and your hubby are together again.

Love to all,

With the I-130 (cr1/ir1), the embassy will send the agent the last packet, which provides instructions, including request for medical exam. Exam are completed by an approved doctor. Your immigrant spouse needs to bring two recent photos and his up-to-date passport to the med exam.

At the interview, he'll need to bring the interview letter and passport and as much supporting documents you can put together such as photos of you two together, copies of letters, cards, emails, chats and from family members sent or addressed to the two of you, who can attest to the validity of your relationship.

Get to the embassy early. Wait times vary. Interviews can last from 10 minutes up to an hour. Depending on the interviewer and if they have any extra questions or concerns. Sometimes they ask odd questions, so be prepared. They may ask the same questions multiple times but using different wording. Remember, their job is to protect American interests and make sure there is no evidence of visa fraud.

You can contact the embassy via email with questions, too.

Thanks a lot for that link. My phone bills have been killing me and this is easier to use than most phone cards I've used because you don't have to use a PIN number to dial. Calling to Antalya is more than 2.9 cents, but it's less than half what I've been paying previously and with Helio I get free international texting.

Hi everyone! I hope you are all doing well and are enjoying the beginning of spring (atleast it's the beginning of spring here in Ohio...after a long and cold winter!)

I returned from Turkey this past week where I had an amazing time, only wish I could have stayed longer! Everyone said my Turkish is getting better - I really hope to be fluent...someday! I'll post some new pictures soon smile.gif

I received a letter from NVC a few days ago stating that our file has been forwarded to Ankara - hooray! Onur has been working on preparing the documents he needs for packet 3. Does anyone know - is the affadavit of support sent in with Packet 3 or only brought to the interview?

Anyway, just wanted to drop in and say hello!

Gorusuruz!

Julia

You'll definitely want to send the notarized Affadavit of Support in with packet 3, Julia.

Ok, thank you.

Another question for everyone - I'm worried about being able to attend the interview with Onur. I've travelled to Turkey and back 3 times in the past year, and am starting graduate school this summer and not sure that financially I'll be able to make the trip (especially because ticket prices are sky-rocketing and we have to purchase a one-way ticket for Onur to come to the states when (if) he gets his visa).

What was everyone's experience with this - USC attending/not attending the interview? I would really like to attend, and hopefully I can find a way. Any thoughts? unsure.gif

I wish I could go to the interview too, but it's just not possible for me to miss more work and still come there afterwards to go to our wedding party and be with Handan for the long ride back to the US. Since you've been there so recently, evidence shouldn't be much of a problem for you I wouldn't think. I'm sure the interview will go well for your fiance whether you attend or not. Ticket prices are getting pretty high sad.gif

I too would feel a lot better if I was able to attend our interview. My Husband just mailed out our packet 3 today. I hope it has everything. Is it the same as packet 3 for the K-1?? I have so many questions so many thoughts swirling around in my head.. I hope we get an interview soon. Hey that is another thing. Does the NVC or the consulate schedule the interviews?? Am I wasting my time hopeing for a May interview date??? I am a ball of nerves!!!!!

GOOD LUCK WITH THE INTERVIEW SOON JULIA!!!!

For the I-130, NVC sets up the date based on the list of available interview dates at Ankara. Keep checking the automated message at the NVC 800#.

GL!

Don't worry about not being there. There are plenty of spouses who didn't/don't attend - I am one, too.

Selam!

I have more questions for all of your experienced Ankara embassy people smile.gif

I am a bit confused as to what Onur should submit with packet 3 and what he should bring to the interview.

1. It looks as if he must submit form I-134 (Affidavit of Support) with Packet 3, but should he also submit my and my co-sponsor's supporting evidence, including copies of tax returns, bank statements, etc? I've read posts where it seems as if people at other embassies bring this information to the interview.

2. Should he submit our original birth certificates with Packet 3, or bring them to the interview?

3. Evidence of relationship. Packet 3 or interview?

Cok tesekkur ederim, as always, for your help!

Hi Julia,

Yilmaz and I submitted all that information with Packet 3. It is important to make an exact copy of what you are sending so you will have it for reference. (I, of course, didn't make an exact copy, but it is highly recommended).

Best wishes on your interview. I think everything will go great!!!

Ciao,

Wendy

My fiancee has our evidence as well as my birth certificate in her posession and is going to take them with her to the interview. She did submit her own birth certificate and translation, however. I guess it was ok that we didn't send them in, because she was given an interview date instead of getting packet 3 returned to her. We sent them the original I-134 and all of the associated documents with it as well.
