I posted this in another forum but didnt get much response. I'm starting to get my paperwork together and have been looking thru past threads about what people have included. It seems it varies quite alot. I have also noticed that the information asked for at the consolate interview differs depending on if it's a K1 or K3. Also varies by country.
How much proof of ongoing relationship did everyone send? I have pics,(how many is enough?) my cell phone records, a few emails, but mostly chat logs. Should I include every chat log? Thats daily conversations for almost 8 months! Began printing just the first page for each day and already I have 180 pages of logs and not close to the present time yet! Also read where people included western union receipts, sworn letters from friends and family(including children)having knowledge of the relationship both from the USC and also the SO sides, sworn letters from pastors, place of employment (sworn)stating USC given time off for travel, travel ticket stubs, passport pages showing visiting visas. etc.
Would like to hear from those who have been to K3 interview, especially in Lagos..what exactly did they ask for?
Would appreciate any help...Thank so much
God Bless

I am getting my paperwork together as well. Bassi and I have known each other for quite a while and been a couple for over a year now. Because of the timeframes I decided to provide information since I filed the petition so that I'd be able to have a clear time frame. So I started in July 2007 until the time of interview. And I did emails, instant messages, phone logs, I have 17 pictures and I think that should be enough....someone told me they sent 200. Bassi is getting stuff together on his side. His brother gave him some pictures that he was SUPPOSED to send me, now he plans to take it to the interview. I hope I look cute in them. And he has cards and letters and stuff and kept the envelope where I did not. I haven't decided if I will send a western union money transfer or not. One person used it as proof and another said the CO frowned on it. I don't know what to do. I'll probably talk it over with Bassi. I suppose we could do it and he could hold it in case more info is requested or the interview seems to be going poorly.

Hello,
No matter where you post a topic it always shows up in the Nigerian Portal. Did you visit the link to the Embassy reviews?
I really do not think it is an exact science considering it might determine on who your interviewer is. I have read in the Nigerian Embassy review that he looked at a couple of pictures, a few emails, and then the interview was over. I would make sure you have supporting documentation for the inception of the relationship. Random items during and some stuff recent. I think I read someplace that you were living there for three months. That is the best proof to have.
It is difficult to get an immediate responce from people who have already been through the interview, because they do not frequent the forums as much as us doing the process. Be patient you will here from someone eventually.

Good morning,
The embassy schedules the interview date. If your husband can collect his Packages before the embassy mails them he can schedule his appointment then. (personality & mood Dependant)
I can't answer to the rest, but if you go to the Forums about embassies they have lost of great information from people who have experienced it already.

Send as much as you can. Better to be over prepared than to give them a reason to temporarily deny you the visa. While you may not want to print every single thing, you can decide to print a certain range of docs so that you are covered. Try to concentrate on proof since you filed your petition.
For the chat logs you may want to just print the first few for each month, or a few from the begininng and a few from the end. Personally, I don't think every single day is necessary.

Thank you MrsJibowu for the list of those having had interviews. Yes, I read every guide and review before I even joined this site...and even went back and read tons of old threads! But to find specific info can be difficult. Just was hoping those having been thru it would respond so I could get a better idea. I originally posted in the "K3" forum and unless people go there or look in "new posts" they may not have seen it. I know I personally, usually only come to the Africa/Subsaharan forum and thought maybe I would get K3 specific answers if I posted somewhere else. Obviously posting in a larger forum doesnt always get the best results! (but thank you for your response!)
I realize that every persons interview experience will be a little different as far as what is asked, but the more we know the better! I plan on overkill!!!!
I had a thought....many of you are saying to focus on the relationship "after filing"...but for K3 shouldn't the focus be "before marriage/filing"as well? To me it would look suspicious if there was nothing illustrating the courtship leading up to the marriage. (read in the reviews that someone was thought to have been paid to marry their SO)
I ask because my situation is a little different..We filed for K1 originally, but were married while it was processing. We tried to change the filing status, but that was when I went to live there for 3 months, and by the time I got home we had been denied and told to refile for the K3.(we got bad advice, and jumped the gun before getting all the info) So the time between marrying and filing the K3 was 6 months.
Obviously me living there is a huge plus...but other than my visa stamps in my passport and pics (with no date stamps), we have no receipts or anything with my name on it. Plus I was there "before" we filed the K3, but after we had already been married during my previous visit several months earlier.
Anyway...leave it to my complete PARANOIA right now..that I am even being so anal! But I don't want anything to go wrong this time around. I can't imagine much longer of being apart! But like I told him in the beginning..I would give up my comfortable life, my house, my job, and all the riches in the world, drop everything and move there with him if I had too!
Thank you all for your help and support!
GOD BLESS

You bring up a good point about proving that your marriage is true. It doesn't hurt to submit anything that you think is relevant. I think you might also want to include a statement about how you had initially filed for a K1, got married and then had to file the K3. Adding the relevant passport stamps will be a definite huge plus.
Of course, I am not a K3 and not going through Lagos, just my $0.02

For the chat logs and emails, I printed the indexes which showed the date and time of each. Then I printed the first page of most chats/emails and a few complete chats. This was sufficient for the Lagos Consulate.
I think everything you listed is good. I think you might want to include any joint accounts you have also. "Ara" (Amy) just went thru this in Lagos. I would email her.

Hello Mrs. Jibowu,
My name is Deb and my husband is from Nigeria. I was reading through your list of people that have already had their interview in Lagos. There is one that you are mistaken about, and that is Kingsley and Tomeca. Tomeca and I are close friends and their interview is scheduled for March 10 which happens to be my husband's and my wedding anniversary, so they have not actually gone through an interview yet. I just found out 1 1/2 hours ago that my husband's and my petitions were approved, both I-130 and K3, so we will be getting interview information shortly as soon as they ship our K3 out of California which I understand can take anywhere from two weeks to a month. I am just happy to be out of USCIS hell hole I don't know what to do, lol! It was a long ride that I thought would never end, lol! Hope you get your approval soon!
Good luck!
Deb
