Justin and Masaka, are you guys going to use James shortcut? How long do you think it'll take at NVC? Also, how long do you think it'll take to get the interview? The interview is probably dependent on the embassy right? Thoughts?

Hi htownboy25,

We are trying to decide about Jame's Shortcut. I know everyone has had good luck with it so far but it is still a risk that something will get rejected or get a RFE or something. We are probably going to email the DS-2032 and we will pay our fees online (assuming its working) but for the DS-230 and the I-864 I am thinking that using the actual forms might be safer. But we will look at our options and our time line at that point and decide then.

I am hoping that it will only be a month and a half to two months at NVC and then on to the consulate/embassy. It sounds like the Japanese embassy is fairly quick about the interview but there are other things like the police report and medical exam that have to be scheduled in as well. I think that the interview will be completely dependent on the embassy your at.

Congrats on your approval, doing AOS I assume? Stand alone I-130 CR1/IR1 should only be for VSC and CSC yes?

No, actually I sent the I-130 to NSC but then it got transferred to CSC. Of course, I didn't know at the time that NSC didn't process I-130 so I had put that in my profile and timeline. Now I was able to change it in my timeline but not sure how to change the NSC to CSC in my profile!

Has anyone seen j.debonis around? I really hope he just hasn't had a chance to post lately and isn't as delayed as my list shows. :(

OK this may be stupid question but........what do we do now after our noa2? do I just wait? does nvc contact my husband in his country and arrange his interview with his consolate next or does his consolate take it from here? I sent in every completed doc. I could find when I sent in the $355 fee but I read people in vj saying they recieved a form and a bill for XXXX, paid it...waited....recieved form XXXX and a bill....paid it.... So am I still going to get these other forms and bills or does the $355 cover all of it? I guess I am just worried I am forgetting to do something important now...and don't like the false sence of security.....

You have to do some things at the NVC before you can go to the consulate. If you go to the Guides page you will find the following :

The Guide page is easy to get to, just look at the top of your screen and click on the "Guides" tab.

Unfortunately there is more money to pay. A lot more actually if you count the medical your spouse will have to have and if there is some cost for the police cert, translations of documents if necessary, and if your spouse doesn't have all of the required vaccines they will need those too.

I'm not trying to depress you, but I sure know that I would rather know about the costs ahead of time then find out at the last moment.

I was able to successfully pay my AoS fee bill online on April 29th, it cleared on the 30th. I have just printed my receipt and my cover letter! :)

I have had a busy couple of evenings trying to get NVC to change our interview location to Tokyo instead of Naha (Okinawa). Anyway its in for review to be changed now! :)

Also, any thoughts on what the next column should be? I can't figure it out as there is now two tracks. Opinions?

did you get any "touch" before receiving your NOA2 e-mail? My timeline is very similar to yours and I just got a touch on 5/5. Dunno what to make out of it. I also submitted my wife's new passport biographic page to VSC about 3 weeks ago, so I am kindda afraid the touch was just to update that information and not someone actually adjucating it..

Anyone have thoughts on what the next column in this list should be? Its difficult with two tracks, should we just skip to "Sent to Embassy"?
