TRELAWNY PARISH
Good morning,

Just wanted to say THANKS to all those that replied to my post yesterday. This is a vaulable website and I feel like park of the family already.

(1) How long did many of you know your fiance or fiancee before starting the filing process (K-1)?

(2) My fiancee was arrested a few years ago, but was never charged with anything. Both parties that were involved agreeged to stay away from each other. He was never fingerprinted, but had to appear before a magistrate. He's being advised not to discolse this, but I think he should. An arrest means that you were detained for a certain period of time, even if you were not charged with a crime. (Maybe I'm wrong, but that's how I understand it).

(3) He lives in Montego Bay...is it better for him to do his physical in Kingston or in Montego Bay. I have a few friends who had problems with the results getting back from MoBay in time for the interview.

Thanks,

Trelawny

Big up all my MARYLANDERS and those from Washington, D.C. (EAST COAST) filers. kicking.gif

No, not having doubts. I love him very much...just wondering if it will have any impact on how, when or if the petioned is approved. I'll let him know it's okay to do it in mobay, since the place is right across the street from where he lives; and I agree with you, I think it's best to tell everything. Thanks for your reply.

Lawny,

I agree wid Brownie. Nothing ventured is nothing gained. I was with my Fiance, Ken for eight months when I finally filed for him. But, I was honestly ready to file in March 2007. But friends and family got in my head and I held off! I honestly regret that move. Because if I would have followed my heart and mind, Ken would be here by now! Do in your heart what you feel is best!

I believe it was William Shakespere that wrote "Better to have loved and lost, then never to have loved at all!"

As far as the Police record, I think you should be alright as long as there is no formal charge of misconduct or felony.

My Fiance lives in MoBay also. He will be going through MoBay Hope for his medical! I had a few recent VJ Yardies that went through MoBay Hope and they didn't have any issues with the medical getting to Kingston on time (Bwoy, I hope I didn't just jinx miself! laughing.gif )

Blessed,
Gill

Good morning Tonya,

Well, I made a typo in the dates of his address since the age of 16.....I listed 1985 instead of 1984.....which cost us 2 extra weeks......I was so upset with myself.......

I knew my husband for just over a year and a half when we filed.

He will have no reason to lie. He will HAVE to have a police record. It will either say something on there or not. I wouldn't SAY a thing. Let the record speak and then explain if you have to.

Andre went to MoBay hope. We had no issues. He even went to a clinic before then to have the shots done before the medical.

Thank you. You must have been reading my mind. I wanted to ask if it was okay to get the shots in advance. That's my thought also on the arrest issue. I told him only to answer, if they ask. Did you attend his interview? One more thing, the packet that he received from NVC, how did he know that his packet was at Kingston? How was he notified? Okay. Now, my head hurts. I have more questions, but can't think of them now. Thanks for your help, again.

Now, i remember, I'm a NATURALIZED US citizen. Wonder if anyone here has an experience with that.

Welcome Trelawny. Good luck on your visa journey.

My husband is also from MoBay.

I only knew my husband 1 year before I applied for him.

We had no problems at the medical in Mobay.

By the way, we live in Fort Washington/Oxon Hill Maryland. Are you near us? There are a few other Marylanders on the board.

(EAST COAST) filers. kicking.gif

Hello Trelawny, welcome to VJ.

1. I married my husband 10 months after we met. We were pretty sure we wanted to get married and thought it would be more beneficial to the both of us in the long run, if he came over as my husband and a permanent resident.

2. As far as the arrest. I say don't ask don't tell. end of story. He'll need a police report anyway once he goes through the K1 process, but if he was never actually arrested and just detained then he doesn't have a criminal record and there is no need to divuldge this personal history. Many people are detained, but it means nothing in the criminal world. I don't see it as a lie to not tell people about this...it will only cause confusion and judgement.

3. As far as this...I really don't know which place is best. I know one is a bit cheaper....but faster...i'll leave that to the other yardies withmore experience.

Trelawny.

No, I did not attend the interview. I wanted to fly here with him. I couldn't do both.

We came through in 2006 and things were different then. Andre actually took his NOA2 to Kingston, dropped off the DS-230, picked up the packet, and made an interview appointment the same day. Things have changed since then. I hear you have to make an appointment to even get in the embassy now and they assign dates differently.

Keep this question out there....I think it was Gill who made an appointment recently to go there and pick up the packet. She's gone right now but can probably advise when she gets back.

We've all been there or are there right now. What you are feeling is natural and we all share it.

Work through it all day to day and hang in there. It will be okay.

AMEN JG!!

Ok Lawny, Once you get the NOA2...the next step is NVC...NVC then sends it to the embassy...NVC sends YOU a letter with your KNG #. Once you get that letter. Download the DS-230 and send it to Lilliput (cute luv.gif Ken's in Greenwood biggrin.gif ). Have Lilliput fill it out and be ready to go! DON'T wait til he actually gets packet #3 (the DS-230 is in that packet). After you get the NVC letter wid your KNG #. Send an email directly to the embassy (with your KNG# in the title) ask them if there is anyway possible your fiance can drop off the DS-230? They SHOULD send you an email back with a date and time for him to take it in. This way you can jump the gun on getting an interview date.

I hope this all makes sense. If not PM me and I will break it down futher when I get back!

Blessed love always,
Gill

(EAST COAST) filers. kicking.gif

Regarding the arrest, I would advise you to get his police record and see if it appears on it. If it DOESN'T
DO NOT, DO NOT disclose it.
The embassy will use any excuse to deny him, trust me.

Mobay should be fine, not really heard of people having problems.

I am in MAryland too!!

Would be nice to link up smile.gif

We had no problems at the medical in Mobay.

I ve known my fiance since I was 11(1981).I used to babysit him.

You would be better off to be honest with them because the FBI will investigate this anyway.

I'm not sure.I know that in Panama, the private clinics can produce results quicker. They also charge more.

Yeah, I know a few people from Jamaica who got stuck during the K1 process. Their applications got stuck for 6-9 months.

We also had a FBI check during the AOS process. I have no idea why because I have a top secret clearance with the gov'ment. I had to add Damien to my clearance when we were engaged because he wasn't a US citizen. It took Damien over a year to get his conditional green card. We had to pay for two EADs so he can continue to work mad.gif .
BelwinMills
1) My husband and I knew each other for 8years and 8 months before we applied. But as you can see many people only new their SO for a year or months.
2) If there wasn't anything written on his record he should not have a problem with his police record.
3) My husband lived in Montego Bay and he did his medical there and had no problem
I attended his interview and it was really easy. I preferred to do that than to come down to Jamaica and fly with him here. We flew from Montego Bay to Kingston together. This was his first flight. I showed him what he need to know on that short flight. So he was ready to fly to Chicago.

All the best with your visa!! whistling.gif
