Guess everyone's gone quiet....

Question:

If it was as easy to find work in the non-US country, would you live there?

It would be hard for me...I am very close to my parents and love my job here, but I would find it very interesting to live in the UK...

I haven't quite decided about that yet. My company offered me the opportunity to work in the UK, I said sure, offer it to me now, when we are going through US immigration. The director of my department said well it's an open-ended offer. Kind of nice idea, but I'm not so sure. The cost of living, the cost of everything blink.gif

I'll admit, I absolutely love the UK, everytime I go there, whether it's been work or pleasure, I fall in love with that country all over again!

I don't know, I'm not closed off to the idea, just don't know when. I too am close to my parents, it would be hard not seeing them as often as I do.

It's one of those possibilities ....
KitEEgirl
I would do it if I had to, sure. It'd be really hard for me to go to Germany because of the language barrier....plus I think we earn more here and have a much lower cost of living....It would be interesting and nice to have 30+ days of vacation though :-D

I would go in a second. Like I said before I love to move. I would have stayed in St Lucia forever but I didn't much like the schools there and my daughter was about to start Kindergarten. I will go back one day. If Louis doesn't like cold Maine (I sure don't) we will find warmer climates for sure...in this country or the next!

greeneyedgirlfl
I used to be fluent in German (about 20 years ago)...but not much use of it in Florida (unless you work at Disney)...

As excited as I am to see him next week, I'm freaking about going to a country where I am not going to understand a word they say biggrin.gif

He knows German, but who wants a constant translator!! And the few words I do know in German, won't be of any help!! laughing.gif

It will definitely be an interesting trip!!! And for anyone who doesn't know, yes, he's from the UK, but currently he's living in Germany ... makes for an interesting twist -- for the interview and to visit smile.gif

Yes. I am originally from Poland moved to the USA when I was seven in 1991. A lot seems to have changed there in these 17 years for the better. I am not sure which way the USA is going right now.

Sure we make more here in the USA, but I think it all evens out. For example people my age from the middle class are stuck paying for student loans for a number of years, so basically what your making goes into something else.

Where in Germany? I was there at the beginning of February.. Marco is from near Duesseldorf...

I'm flying into Frankfurt, then we are taking the train back to Minden - it's close to Hannover. Funny thing though, I couldn't get a flight out of Frankfurt on the day I needed to leave, so my departure to come back home is out of Cologne - which is close to Dusseldorf.

We are going to a football (or soccer to us Americans) -- can't remember the name of the town sad.gif -- and I asked if we could goto Berlin, because it's only about 3 hours or so from where he is. Since I've never been there, I want to try to see some stuff while there.

Shopping is really fun in Cologne smile.gif

We flew from Cologne to Paris when I was there. The airport is not bad and everything is said in both German and English smile.gif

From your NoA1 you can get your case number, which is 13 digits long and contains the letters WAC at the beginning.

Then just go to this site:

https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/jsps/index.jsp

and register using your case number. Now you can log in whenever you like and check your case status!

A 'touch' is when the Last Updated column date changes.

EDIT: Also, welcome! biggrin.gif

Good morning, Januarians!!! Congrats on the NOA2, sj_soulm8ts!!! Another approved!!!

Soon we'll be celebrating interview approvals!!!

You can check your status online at the uscis website, by entering your recipt number on the Nao1, when you see the date change it means you have been touched.

Good Luck with your journey

hi all, congrats to the latest round of approvals, very encouraging to see progress.

Do you all also monitor the date on the timeline? It seems to be dropping by one day almost every day. So i was curious... does this date mean, assuming it has even a little bit of truth to it, the date that the fiance gets the visa in hand ?

Thanks,
-gujraja

Yeah, he mentioned that Cologne is a cool place. We were thinking about spending the weekend there when I leave, because my flight is at 10AM on a Sunday. Too hard to try and plan stuff for the end of this month right now. I'll just be excited to be in the same place as him for 2.5 weeks!

OK kids....I am keeping the ball rolling here.

APPROVED TODAY!! I am so excited and I get to see Aidan this weekend to celebrate. I could not be happier.

Although I feel like I kinda "cut the line" a bit seeing as we were #107 on Igor's list yesterday. I would have been fine waiting another couple of months so those who are far overdue could get their approvals.

Here's some approval dust *******************88

Dawn - I'm sure it is somewhere on this website. I looked at the K1 flowchart but can't figure out (besides calling the phone # after two weeks) how you find out when your application arrives at NVC and then on to the Embassy. Where did you find this info? I'm already overwhelmed at the next phase of the process...I'm not ready yet! hee hee.

I'll let you know what I did....

I waited about a week and then called NVC (their # is at www.state.gov)...got a busy signal for about 15 minutes, but eventually got through...you'll need your receipt #; they will tell you if your case has arrived and when they will send/have sent it to your embassy (I'm assuming it's Dublin)...then your beneficiary will wait for packet 3...

Hope this helps!!!
