Full Version: Is There A Waiting List For Immigration For The Spouse Of A US Citizen?

Hi, I'm new to this forum and to this whole immigration thing. So far the only thing that I find confusing is the waiting list for the I-130. At http://www.uscis.gov/files/article/A1.pdf it states twice that there is no waiting list for spouses of US citizens, but when I go to other sites, it states that it could take years for your spouse to get to the U.S. Which one is true?

Thanx,

Both.

There is no waiting list for the spouse of a US citizen in that an A number will be immediately available (whereas for a lawful permanent resident, they need to wait for a number to become available).

However, the process of filing the paperwork and getting approved can take anywhere from several months to several years, depending on your individual case.

Thanks for clarifying that good.gif
