The awesome thing about the McDougall program is there is no calorie counting! You can eat as much as you want and not go hungry and still lose weight. I've already seen the results in the first two weeks losing 5lbs! One week I exercised and the next I was on vacation but it all still worked well for me!

So is there a free version of this thing out there? I looked up your program but it required the buying of a DVD... smile.gif

I have the DVD's. Everything in the DVD's is in the books so technically you don't need the DVD's as they are astronomicaly boring to watch. It takes like 10 hours. You can however order a few of their recipe books online and I recommend the used ones. Also they have a website with access to their recipes, and there are some McDougall Yahoo Groups online you can join all for free!

I was curious if it was something that would work on my diet since I am working on learning how to eat less by watching calories. I am doing great and learning a lot..I've even reduced the amount of food that I "need" to have on my plate to be satisfied. I reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally wanna go back to the atkins diet coz I sure miss stuffing myself on meat but I know that this is wayyyy more healthy... ummm..yay for healthy.. blink.gif
sorry..i'm trying to keep a positive attitude.....its not going so well lol
Jenn!
I worked on my legs/butt yesterday and felt fine. Then I ran 3 miles at lunch time and felt fine.

Then I just tried to get up from my desk. HOLY ####

Well, I think I'm dropping some weight. Also, I have really gotten sick of this and I feel hot (temperature-wise, not aesthetically). This blows. Found some old pictures and made one my computer background so I am staring at it and reminding myself about once being thin.

OK, anyone interested in diet/exercise thread?
This is MENA specific, as we all deal with dieting despite husbands with high metabolisms (to generalize) and cooking us (or we cook them) lots of bread, middle eastern food, etc. Also how to workout while abroad.

So... who is in?

I didnt really start this on NYD I have been doing for a while... I am not eating any processed foods unless they are veggie burgers that sort of thing (with all good ingredients), trying to increase my fruits and veggies and keeping them as raw as possible, I have elminated dairy (this is just an experiment I am trying) and I have been doing lots and lots of exercise. I had a baby almost 9 months ago and I am at my pre pregnancy weight but since then, no budging! So not sure what is happening there but I would like to lose 10 lbs!

I am in... but I am state side.. however I am running out doors in hijab does that count?? And my husband isn't here can i still play?

OK so my latest obsession is kettlebells.
I have noticed a distinct difference since I started them and I have not been doing them for long they totally tighten up your ###.
My trainer has been doing it with me and I bought a 15lb kettlebell for home. Ill take breaks and just do a set of 20 kettlebell squats.
Lovin it!

Extra padding. I have noticed a huge difference in my temperature. I feel really hot all the time.. whereas when thinner I generally felt OK. I also felt colder in the winter when thinner.. and now I felt not too bad.

What abs workout are you doing? I need something for my core. I dislike core strengthing very much but I think my neglect for this region is one reason my back went out on me. Is the abs workout something I can do?

I need to get a core workout program going.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Besides still eatting healthy I did go on my walk with Abby this morning after taking some more Ibuprofren. I was in considerable pain but I hoped whatever I'd done to my back might work its way out on a walk. Plus I didn't want to break my committment to my cousin about walking in the morning when she only gets 1 hour out of 24 to herself after the new baby was born.

She told me her neck was kinked which seemed to coincide with the same day my back pain started.. During our walk my right hip/leg seemed to do this rotating thing due to my lower back pain. It feels better to stand, walk, or lay flat on my back, then sit or bend. After the walk I soaked in the bathtub. I felt better during the day until later when Mom decided to rearrange house furniture and I had to help her. Thus came the bending and lifting and reinjury. My back is still complaining but not as much as yesterday.

Have you seen the news piece they did (cannot remember which national news it was) on resturant salads? Don't worry, it's not a blacklight thing smile.gif it was about teh calories. They were showing that the average, not the weight control ones where they list calories, were over 1000 calories with all that dressing, etc.

I never saw that particular story, but I do know about restaurant salads. Very deceiving. You're usually ok if you stick with oil & vinegar. But that doesn't taste too good on a caesar salad!

I actually don't like any dressing, so i'm ok! I also don't eat pork, so that bacon stuff doesn't phase me, and I don't get meat at all actually.. so... and then I am wary of cheese. Suffice it to say, I have never ordered a resturant salad unless I can build it myself. I get mesclun, tomatoes, and then if they have it... feta. sometimes I'll get alfalpha sprouts on the side. Sometimes I'll add spinach. I am really a plain eater.

Also, do not like cheesecake. Probably better that way!
Alhamdulillah

How'd everyone do over the weekend?

I was going to go running since I skipped my workout on Friday, but it was so hot I couldn't summon the strength (I'm a real baby when it comes to heat tolerance).

I think fruity refreshing cocktails are going to be my downfall in my weight loss goals during the summer months!

Yesterday I fell off the wagon and had an ice cream. I was having a major sugar craving. But today I am back on. My cousin is watching her sisters kids this week while her sisters husband's is donating a kidney to his brother. This is all going down in our neighboring state of Washington. So I don't have my walking buddy this week. But I do have my work out buddy and we're set for 3:30pm today.

fruit cocktail as in fruit or fruity cocktails as in happy hour? right now I am contemplating if one can live off of grapes an 7up and entire summer. The grapes right now are just so dang goooooood!
Jenn!
LOL, yes as in alcohol, not fruit! I had 2 margaritas yesterday, but I think that's ok because I'm sure they just evaporated through my skin instantaneously.
