LOL! I am sipping on soda right now. I decided for sure no soda at home anymore. Maybe one at work. i know it should be NONE.

well is it at least diet???
amal
diet has no calories and I heard that if u drink 2 cans full of water PER 1 can of soda that it washes out the bad stuff... interesting way to think about it aye?

LOL! Ummm no. I do have that option though. I selected the soda next to the diet one. Think that counts?

I know it doesn't.

I need tio figure out something else to eat though. I meant to make hummus and bring it with my home made pitas, but a friend came over and borrowed my wheelbarrow and talked/took seeds-- got behind.

Maybe, just maybe, in the next couple of mornings I am going to score an heirloom Okra from Africa. Someone at work offered me the seeds. Heard it is really a good flavor and not so slimy.

Well, 2 glasses of H2O per 1 can soda does help to rehydrate you, but it doesn't really negate the full effect of the soda.. for me I get sick when I have aspartame or the like so I end up feeling rotten if I drink diet.

non slimy okra would be a good thing...

Well, as you know the smaller you pick it the less slimy it is-- and supposedly this one is way less slimy in the small pod stage. I love ti for texture, flaor, and appearance-- i love the way the cross sections look in soups, etc.

How do Mexicans ever diet? tongue.gif

But seriously, I think depriving yourself will slow you down in the long run. Go for Mexican! Just make a healthy choice. It's the spices that make Mexican food tasty, not the gobs of cheese and sourcream!

Chicken tacos on corn tortillas are suprisingly not that bad if you get them the traditional way.

When I go to a tex mex type place i always go for a fajita type of thing and i dont add any sour cream or cheese and i try to go easy on the tortillas - ie no more than two. i will partake in the guacamole tho - healthy fats!

All of these are good suggestions. I was thinking maybe a taco salad?

Well I went to the Gym with my friend, Erin, and I did the elypticals for 30 mins and then I focused on lower body weights. I kept looking around for her for an hour wondering where is she? Is there another part of the gym I don't know about? Turns out she was in the trainer box the entire hour talking about food instead of working out. She asked me to go tomorrow but it would be really late and it's just cardio which I am covering in the morning with my cousin. I told her I'll pass and see her on Thursday. I have to judge how sore I'm going to be tomorrow. One more funny thing I noted about this gym. There is no scale to measure your weight in the ladies locker room.

Now I really want ice cream!

taco salad prob ok if you dont eat the shell - whatever you do DONT eat that oily shell! and no cheese, sour cream, dressing etc. just eat the veggies and meat inside. great job on your workout!

maybe we should type in our workouts each day to inspire each other?

I don't know about you but that was my plan. Come here and report what I did.

For my reward Mom and I are going to the $1 movie later! Whoot! kicking.gif

OK - yesterday I did 55 mins of circuit training with a focus on glutes and 20 mins on the treadmill - but i did the treadmill hard so i actually burned 250 calories vs the normal 200 i would burn for 20 mins. Food wise was OK except I did have dessert and a caramel machiato from starbucks during the day.

today is going to be difficult i hope i manage to squeeze in a workout. thurs and fri i will workout for sure. today i REALLY want to get one in.

i've given up on the "diet". i've decided to only eat fresh things like fruit, veggies, lean meats, and very minimal bread/pasta. no processed anything.

thats what i do - i dont cut out any food groups like carbs etc i just try, as much as possible to eat lots of fruits and veggies and lean proteins and nothing processed.

but think if you had three waters instead of that one soda how much bad stuff you can flush out!! i feel like diet soda is the devil. i actually would rather have regular than diet - i read they proved the diet soda makes you more hungry. i feel like it is just drinking chemicals ugh.
Jenn!
Ok, I like the idea of recording our workouts here.

Yesterday, I did 20 minutes on the treadmill followed by my upper body weight routine. I've also amped up my ab workout - I'm gonna do that every day I can.

Today I only have 45 minutes, so I think I'm gonna do 35 minutes on the treadmill and then my ab work.

I can't work out on Thursday - I wonder if I should do 2 workouts on Friday.

Yesterday I got up to go to the bathroom approximately 9 times here at work. The bathroom is approx 90 feet from my desk. That's 810 feet. Also, I walked to the front door to get the shuttle to get to the back pkg lot where my car is. That is about a 900 foot walk and since I did it coming into work that's 1800 feet. Not counting all of the other steps I took I'd say in total I at LEAST walked 2610 feet or 1.7 miles. smile.gif

I also had a huge cardio workout whose name cannot be mentioned wink.gif

I *am* going to ease into the idea of dieting so that come Tuesday I'll be in full swing. This weekend I plan on walking with the hubster on the beach for at least 2 miles a day. I will also replace my bagel with peanut butter in the morning with one slice of whole wheat toast with blueberry jam on top. innocent.gif
Jenn!
They gave us a little pedometer here at work during Fitness month. They said we should get 10,000 steps a day. I tried it out for a day, not including my workout, just to see how many steps I take on average. It was less than 4,000.

Does anyone know if that Myth, pouring regular coca cola on a car eats off the paint? (I don't know what kind of cheap paint tht is) I heard it does the same thing to your teeth eats up the enamel?

hey bridget - i think that the whole wheat toast with the peanut butter (natural or reduced fat preferably) would be better than the blueberry jam. otherwise you arent getting any protein and you will feel hungry later.

I can do it physically. I know I can. I do mixed intensive cardio for an hour. I do an hour of interval circuit training followed directly by an hour of high impact kickboxing without stopping.
My issue is - my HEAD. The idea of just being on the treadmill and running, running, running is so boring and depressing to me - I want to do it, because you burn a crapload of calories and so I can say I did it - but I just cannot wrap my head around it. HELP!

I think I'm a weirdo, but I do arithmetic in my head - it helps me pass the time. If I'm running for 30 minutes, after the first minute I'm 1/30 of the way there, then after 2 minutes 1/15, and so on and so forth. As time goes on I do it more often - calculate the fraction remaining or completed every 30 seconds or 15 seconds. This may not work for anyone else but me though. blush.gif

I know what you mean about it being a psychological thing though. I really don't feel significantly more "tired" after 2 miles than after 1. So theoretically, I could run forever! yeah right! laughing.gif

Wow that's awesome Jenn! I have that same goal but I was going to ease into it in 9 weeks with the Couch to the 5K running program. But first I want to lose some poundage because I feel it's hard on my joints to start a running program at this weight.

Today we got our Mexican food in and then we discussed how stuffed we were and how much we needed to lose weight and how we're going to seriously crack down on this McDougall diet. The maximum weight loss version states you can lose up to 15lbs in one month if you are strict to the diet and so we both agreed for 30 days to stick to it and try it out.

Today I'm taking a break from cardio and the gym. Last night I couldn't sleep because my muscles were so sore from working out. It was miserable. My Cousin text msg me @ 4:30am saying she'd been up all night with the baby and couldn't sleep and wasn't going to make it so we're going to try again on Thursday. Thursday I also go to the gym with Erin and this time I'm doing upper body.

Congrats Jenn! I do math too.

Sarah-- Soda does eat the enamel off your teeth as do all acids. Juice is worse than soda, and tea is the worst of all.

Olivia, you should soak in a nice hot bath w/ dead sea salts or epsom salts. It will help your achy muscles and you'll sleep much better.

Julianna, nice to see you ... wondered where you'd been today. And yes, sodas will eat the paint off your car, the acid off your battery, the finish off your floors. Stands to reason it's not so great for your teeth either.

So I went to the gym and did 30 mins of cardio on the elypticals and then did weight training on my upper body. Now my lower body is sore and my upper body feels like jelly and will be sore soon. sad.gif

Can anyone recommend good core training exercises? I hate doing core but it's a must.

That's where you focus on the middle region or the core of the body like the abdomen.

and u start twisting going from one side to the other with ur legs fixed and only the upper part is moving! it does hurt after awhile but VERY effective. but i dont know if i described it very well lol let me know
