Good job, Kelly! How much did you gain?
I only gained about 10 with my first and about 15 with my second. I lost all of it and then some just in the delivery alone. I was heavier at the time so I suppose the babies didn't need for me to gain more than I did.

Im back on the wagon.... I feel like such a failure

I lost 80 lbs a few years ago, I have now gained all but 5 back ... I really feel so sad about it.... I was doing good for a few weeks, but to do this all over again I just feel so depressed. Im back on weight watchers plan, though i'm going to just do it at home and shoot for an hour of exercise a day.

I think I've continued to lose weight (based on my clothes), despite my recent lack of exercise. Must be the metabolism thing. I feel like a slug though since I haven't been to the gym. I can't wait to start back up again!

I bought a bunch of new(er) clothes a few weeks back and now the pants are starting to fall off. thank god for cheap prices! I'm finally starting to notice that part above my belly button starting to shrink a little bit and my rings are becoming a little bit more loose. Not a great deal but enough now to be noticed so I think thats some good progress...only 1 more ton to lose lol! at 10lbs a month..thats 120lbs a year..thats pretty cool if I think about it that way.

OK! Bumping this back up.
I was tlaking to a new coworker and casually mentioned that I wish I had a treadmill-- and she offered me hers. She says it's brand new and she used it once, then put it away and never took it back out. Awesome!

Cool, thanks for bumping.
That would be great to have a treadmill at home - have fun!
Today was my first day back to the gym now that I have some time back again. It felt so good to exercise again. I never thought I would say something like that.

Well, I always sleep really soundly, fortunately, so I haven't noticed a difference.
So my goal now is to have those last 5 pounds off by my friend's wedding, which is on May 31st. If I get there, I'm going to buy a new dress!

May 15 2008, 10:39 AM
wow congrats on the treadmill...
My diet and exercise plan... well it hurts too much to exercise right now due to my broken pelvis and the catch in my ankle so I don't do too much extra of that. I figure busy days at work where we don't sit down for 10 hours and are running around like chickens with our heads cut off is good enough to count as excercise for me.
I think I posted it before but I'll post it again..
I found the single serving banquet meals at wal mart for only 0.88 cents and they have less calories than the lean cuisines or healthy choice meals. and they taste wayyyyyyyyyyyy better. soooooooooooooo I've been having a banquet meal for lunch and supper instead of cooking. If I do cook, after monitoring calories via the meals..I can kind of gauge how many calories I'm giving myself so I'm keeping a close eye on that.
The only down side to the banquet meals is that u have to drink a lot of extra water due to the sodium level in them (of course they have extra sodium.. thats why they taste better)
when its not lunch or supper time..I have a 100 calorie pack every 2 hours and that really curbs my apetite. It doesn't fill me up but lets me think I've been eating all day so I don't feel the need to eat everything that doesn't run away fast enough.
I also have 1 apple for breakfast and it has really boosted my energy levels..its amazing what that 1 apple a day does to improve my life.
so, thats what I'm doing. Trying to stay under my daily allowance of calories (2100) as calculated by the mayoclinics website which is based on my level of activity, weight, height, all of that stuff.
I still have my coffee but drink diet soda....lord that sucked in the beginning but i've gotten used to it ... . kind of had to since it was either lose weight or never see my son grow up...

So Mom and I are starting the McDougall Diet tomorrow and her Brother, Tom, is also doing it with us to lower his blood pressure and get off medication.
Here it is May 19th and we're just starting this after talking about it for several years. lol
I feel with three people present and doing the diet we'll have a good support system.
Since I'm in Boise this summer and I have a memebership at Gold's Gym I called my GF, Erin, who had the lap band surgery and is on a personal trainer program at Gold's Gym. She goes five days a week to the gym so that she doesn't get much of the stretchy skin you get when losing weight on the lap band. She said she would be glad to pick me up to go to the gym with her and work out and bring me back. I feel having a work out buddy would be better for me.
Then I called my cousin Abby who just had a baby and is trying stubbornly to lose 35 lbs of baby weight. She lives close to my Mom and we agreed to meet in the morning to go on walks together! My goal is to lose 30 lbs by the end of this summer if I am doing all this.
So I've got the diet, the exercise, and the cardio all set up. Now it's a matter of "Just Doing It!"

ok girley poos, get back on the train and riiiiiiide baby riiiiiiiiiide... we can do it!!!!!
Husband has started looking at me differently. He said that he loves me no matter what but something has changed and I look better and better each day. I dunno if he was buttering me up or being honest but I didn't mind. I've dropped roughly 2 sizes in clothes and I'm starting to notice a difference in the way I feel. I can walk better, my rings fit less tightly, I'm feeling slightly more confident in how I look, a pair of pants I bought about a month ago that fit perfectly are now too big and I LOVE IT!!!
I really hope you all can get back at it soon coz I totally need the support system!!!!!

I think I'm at that weight that my body feels comfortable at. It will be hard to break this barrier.

You're gonna have to tell him how imperative it is that he stop that. Tell him he has got to find another way to show you he loves you coz with him doing this, he's gonna kill you (it would take forever but it's possible if u gain quickly). Tell him how important it is that he let you do your diet until you're comfortable with how you look and feel. I've been down that road with mine. he still occasionally does it and I have to remind him that I WILL eat it and its so NOT OK for me to do that and to please remove it from my plate. It was hard to turn down at first but I had to coz I would rather healthily have children (if ever allowed to) than die coz I allowed myself to eat my husbands leftovers or didn't stop him from piling stuff on my plate.
It took mine 2 years and he FINALLY seemed to get it after a talk last night about the weight loss, what I gained when I was in Jordan, how much I lost before he got her, and the almost 50lbs I've gained since his arrival here.
I wish you luck in this. It's hard but I'm cheerin' you on

I'm looking into loosing some weight, specifically my "love handles" and belly pouch (it's not badddd... but I notice it more and more now)
I'm doing training for the 3 Day Walk but for some reason it feels like its not helping me lose weight, ugh.
and of course, doing the very best on telling myself "no!" when sweet tooth hits!

find out how many calories your body needs to lose the weight you're wanting to lose and in how much time u want to lose it in. I believe its at mayoclinic.com that u can put ur activities, height, current weight, desired weight, time you want ur goal to be met by and it tells u how many calories per day you should have.
If I've learned anything from this diet it would be DON'T EAT LESS CALORIES THAN UR SUPPOSED TO COZ U'LL GAIN WEIGHT!!! We can talk in PM more about it if u want the agonizing details.... lol
Banquet meals taste great and are low on calories so it makes it sooooooooooooo easy to keep track of AND 100 calorie packs every couple hours helps keep the hunger pains away. I also have to have an apple every morning for breakfast or I starve all day. I dunno what it is about that apple but this is the 3rd time since I started this diet that I've forgotten my apple and I'm about to eat everyone in this place that doesn't run away fast enough..
That's a summup of it .. hope it made some sense

When I go to a tex mex type place i always go for a fajita type of thing and i dont add any sour cream or cheese and i try to go easy on the tortillas - ie no more than two. i will partake in the guacamole tho - healthy fats!

All of these are good suggestions. I was thinking maybe a taco salad?
Well I went to the Gym with my friend, Erin, and I did the elypticals for 30 mins and then I focused on lower body weights. I kept looking around for her for an hour wondering where is she? Is there another part of the gym I don't know about? Turns out she was in the trainer box the entire hour talking about food instead of working out. She asked me to go tomorrow but it would be really late and it's just cardio which I am covering in the morning with my cousin. I told her I'll pass and see her on Thursday. I have to judge how sore I'm going to be tomorrow. One more funny thing I noted about this gym. There is no scale to measure your weight in the ladies locker room.
Now I really want ice cream!

Now I really want ice cream!taco salad prob ok if you dont eat the shell - whatever you do DONT eat that oily shell! and no cheese, sour cream, dressing etc. just eat the veggies and meat inside. great job on your workout!
maybe we should type in our workouts each day to inspire each other?

How do Mexicans ever diet?

OH and can u put that on a plate instead of in that bowl.... and I'd like an unsweetened iced tea but without the tea plz and if it isn't too much trouble.. can u cut the tips off the forks and make them more of a spork length plz.

Ammar had guac and sour cream for the first time yesterday. Awww. he didn't like either one which is great, as I don't either.
I have been trying to walk 2 miles each day on the new treadmill and do some ab exercises. I don't know what i'll do for today other than abs. Stepped on broken glass and my toe won't stop bleeding. I figure I need to not work on it for a while.

i've given up on the "diet". i've decided to only eat fresh things like fruit, veggies, lean meats, and very minimal bread/pasta. no processed anything.

That's what I am doing. I'm at work now, though, and we have free unlimited soda and a whole lotta naughty stuff like chips, etc. in the break room. Work is baaad.
