Oh I fell off the wagon in a big way this weekend as well. I was thinking to show you guys one of this pix you don't normally see of me with the tire growing around my gut when I put my skinny jeans on. Oh to be thin again with out having to eat all these veggies and exercise so much is a hard enough ideal to get myself back into with Charles blocking the road to success with pix of sweets and junk foods. It's does nothing for my will and motivation when stuffing another carrot into my pie hole.

So, then, why don't you just eat a lot of soups with some other things tossed into the meal mix?
Curries, etc.. it's about physical activity and portion size then.

Jenn, did your weight loss come in stages or did you just drop sort of slowly the whole time? I was looking at it, and if you sropped slowly, it would be about a pound a week, but I thougyht I remembered you saying you were plateaued for a while.
I would usually plateau for 2 or 3 weeks and then drop 2 or 3 pounds at once.

Thank you for posting the good stuff Jenn!
I got my new vandal card so I can start working out at the gym. I have this friend, Lianna, and she is going to meet me at the gym M, W, Thur. to work out together and hold each other accountable. I will work out for at least 3 days a week but I want to get back to working out 5-6 days a week. All activity will take 1 hr. Lianna works out for 20mins she says just to get her day going. We're about the same in body issues. Although she has one thing on me and that's youth. She's 10 years younger than me so this is going to be much easier for her than it is for me. I've noticed gaining and losing weight has gotten much harder for me as I got older. Especially now that I've matured and mellowed out from my spit fire and vinegar days in my teens and 20's.

I can't start today because I have leftover lamb and apple pie in the fridge. BUT....come Monday I'm there!!!! I'm going to start slowly today though by doing little things like drinking a LOT of water and walking every night for about 20 minutes.

water is key. Do you like flax seeds at all? They're a good source of omega-3's among other things. I buy the roasted golden flax seeds at Trader Joe's, grind them up (don't use them whole or they won't be digested), and put a tablespoon in a glass of water every morning. Of course you could put it on your cereal, on salad, or in other food, but this way I always remember to do it. And I love the taste!
I also always drink a bunch before I eat so I feel fuller.

No but I eat flatbread with flaxseed in it. My rheumatologist actually put me on meds one time that was based from flaxseed but I wasn't able to take it because it messed my digestive system up something fierce!

where'd everyone go?
I've basically been eating very low fat trying to stick to under 20g of fat per day and so far have lost some weight but not sure if it's just weight lost from having had surgery or not.
Am meeting with a nutritionalist because I need a foodplan that is 1) lowfat, 2) low calorie and 3) low in sodium. I'm serious...just shoot me and get it over with already.

I've been on my gym plan now and sticking to it. 3 days a week at the gym and 2 days at home treadmill.

You know i"ve been eating super lowfat since before my operation and the ONE thing I miss the most is your recipe with the chicken and onions!!!

If I could just find out how to make those onions without all the olive oil then there would once again be a reason to keep on keepin' on.

Your post reminded me of something. I'm trying to do Weight Watchers, again, the core plan. Last night, I was cooking some sliced onions in a little cooking oil spray with a little bit of chicken -- the onions were the main ingredient. My husband came in and suggested that I cook the onions until they carmelized and then add cinnamon to them. He also suggested a little sugar, but I told him sugar was out. So I did add just the cinnamon, and it was fantastic! No WW points either for just the onions and cinnamon. I know I'll get that oniony smell in my pores if I eat too much of that, but I love onions, and I usually have my office to myself anyway.
This morning was day 4 in a row at the gym. I undid a lot of earlier progress the last few months, but I'm back on it. My sister and I each want to lose 60 pounds before we (hopefully) go to Morocco next summer, so we're challenging each other.

I love the chicken and onion combo so much!! Woot Woot! My hubby being from Egypt had never tasted it before...he laughs everytime we meet someone from Jordan or Palestine and we start talking about food....immediately he will say THATS ANNIES ALL TIME FAVORITE!

But he loves it now too!
There has to be a way...hmmm...might alter the taste a bit but I'm sure there is a way to use less or another type of oil that would be healthier.

See, I'm more like my hubby in that I can't stand sweet combined with dinner. He totally dislikes just about every moroccan dish aside from the chicken and french fries one that I make.

Usama hadn't ever tasted it before either but he does like it a LOT!! What's really hard now is he keeps asking me why I'm not cooking macaroni bechamel anymore. (it was like twice a week during ramadan...no wonder my gallbladder was full of stones!

)
Getting him to understand that butter = bad for me is just really hard PLUS he's as thin as anything and so I really need to make him foods that will get him to GAIN weight.

I agree its the TIME issue! My hubby is working out with me and tries not to scarf down all his junk food in front of me!

But at least he's trying to be supportive! I think if you break down your goal weight into smaller goals...its MUCH easier. So make your first goal 10 or 15 pounds, then start with another 10/15 goal...you then have that feeling of accomplishment. I have the same goal as you but I have broken it down to the smaller goals...I try to not obsess about the weight but about how I feel and how my clothes are fitting me. (easier said than done...

Jazzercise sounds fun!! Do you have a local YMCA by you? They are usually pretty affordable and will work w/ you on cost as well. Our Y gym has a sitter service from 6pm till 9pm and I can see the twins while I work out! IT ROCKS

They have the gym, swimming and classes for all. Might be worth checking out.
Send me your cell # in a PM ... I will text you and annoy you everyday I'm hitting up the gym!
