Ok so I called the automated NVC system today and it said that my case was not found. We received our letter on December 6th stating that they had received an approved I 129F petition and that it was forwarded to the appropriate visa issuing post. We still havent gotten our packet in the mail and I'm a little worried. I tried both the INS receipt number and the case number. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Lauren

K1 case numbers are not in the system...hit 5 (I believe) to get a live person and ask them if your case is still there or has left for the embassy...good luck....

it probably has left then...thanks for your help

The automated system is so inaccurate. I got the same answer several times before. Make sure you talk to the live operator instead. Good luck! good.gif

Definitely talk to a live operator. You should find out if your petition has been put on "administrative processing" like ours has. I got that same letter on November 16th but our petition is STILL sitting at the NVC undergoing "administrative processing." (Security checks) They have given me no reason as to why, or any time as to when it will be sent. Apparently all I can do is wait. So I would call to see if this is what is going on. Or maybe you'll be lucky and it will have already been sent.

It also seems that since typically K1 cases go through the NVC and are sent to the consulate within 2-3 days, they are not even entered into the automated system so the only way you CAN get information is to talk to a live person. When I try to get an update using the automated system using the receipt or case number, it says our case does not exist. However it certainly does, and it is still sitting there 6 weeks after arriving at the NVC.

I wish you the best of luck! This is not an easy process and it can definitely try your patience.

Happy New Year to everyone and may it bring better things for all of us...
