Excellent and really helpful report. Thanks for providing such detail (it's not going on!) because for those of us still waiting on interview it really does help to know what to expect.

Congratulations!!! Look forward to your 'visa arrived' post!! biggrin.gif

Sorry for my ignorance but what is AP? What does it stand for?

I think it's Advanced Parole...which allows you to leave the country while your AOS is being processed (please correct me if I'm wrong, somebody!)...

Can also mean Administrative Processing...further checks into information providied in the petition.

That's true...I guess I've been spending too much time in the AOS forum... blush.gif

So glad to hear you made it through the interview okay!

I'm going to be computerless until Wednesday evening UK time as I'm flying from Leeds to London in the morning and making my way over to a hotel near Paddington, (hopefully within walking distance) of the US Embassy. (I'll no doubt do a timed dummy run tomorrow once I'm settled.) My interview is Tuesday morning at 9:00am and I'm all packed and ready...I think. I think I've taken the "no luggage or mobile phone" thing a bit too seriously and so booked in an extra night at the hotel so I could dump my stuff in my room - hence why I'm not flying back oooop north until Wednesday. I didn't read the reports of people handing their phones and stuff to the Embassy staff open entry until I'd already booked.... my bad, but at least it means I'm not staying in the cupboard at my mum's place an extra day, (already sold my house in preparation of the relocation and staying with my mum and step-dad the past month since I came back to the UK which has been somewhat less than pleasant, (due my my step-dad being a royal pain in the ###), but I'm grateful of the roof over my head.)

As I don't want to have to take a big suitcase with me on the London Underground and trudge across London with it I don't want to take a suit, so is shirt and tie OK for the interview? (I don't want to be the scruffy guy at my interview, but likewise don't want to have to travel wearing a suit and have to wear the same one the next day.) I've not seen anything regarding what people wear for their interview so any pointers would be appreciated.
Jeraly
I'd never really thought about it. I am sure jeans would be ok though wink.gif

It's very, very casual. I wore jeans and a t-shirt and just about everyone else was similarly dressed. One person had obviously cycled in and was wearing full cycling gear - sweat included!

I thought about this too!!!

I just ended up going in what I felt comfortable in. Jeans and a jumper. Everyone else was dressed rather casually too apart from the odd business man here and there!
Darren&Laura
Thanks for the advice! Great, all packed and ready then... cursing myself for sleeping late today now as not tired and was hoping to have an early night tonight and be up bright and early tomorrow! Oh well, doubt I'll be sleeping much these next two nights anyway for fretting about whether I missed anything obscure but important in my visa paperwork bundle wink.gif

Best of luck Darren! I'm sure all will go well for you and you can get back to your family very soon smile.gif

I'm also going to be travelling from Leeds to London on Tuesday and staying until Friday- it's my birthday today so my mum is treating us to a break in London. My medical is on Wednesday and the interview *sharp intake of breath* is on Friday so I won't be able to update here until I return from the interview. I'll be around tomorrow though - probably asking lots of questions. unsure.gif

Good luck also to lisalu for tomorrow!!

Goodluck to all this weeks interviewees. Due to the large amount of stuff that I have left until last minute (very unlike me therefore added to my already skyhigh stress levels!) I'll not be aroung much until later this week but will try pop on occasionally.

Got my papers together! If they deny me now I have no idea what more I could do to get an approval. I haven't included the original I-129F application, just the evidence from it. I was getting stuck for room in my folder!

Anyone know whether a visa debit card is ok to use for the medical and in the embassy - or should I play safe and take cash? I don't do credit cards.

Visa debit is fine; sterling is fine at both the medical and the interview. We paid for the medical partly in cash and partly on a Solo card. At interview we paid in sterling.

You're going to do just fine -- good luck!!!

Thanks guys, I'm really not that nervous. I have a few butterflies but I think more from excitement than fear. Not sure that won't change though towards the end of the week.

Hi all,

After returning from a 12 day trip to Mexico with my fiance (and a very bumpy landing in Birmingham after being diverted from Gatwick due to the storms today), i've just been hit by the fact my interview is in one day!

I have one major question - do we sign the DS230 Part B in front of the interviewer? I presume we sign our DS156's at the window when we hand over the docs, but when do we fill out Part B. I ask because I have been refused entry to america (2 years ago and since been issued a B2, and have been assured this won't affect getting the K1), so i'd like to know when this will come up in conversation. I obviously want to be straight abbout it, and I know its asked on Part B so was just hoping someone knew when we signed this so my mind is at rest.

Many thanks as always.

I think I signed the DS230 Part B in front of the interviewer. I'm not sure if it was DS230 Part B but my interviewer gave me a sheet and told me to print my fiance's name and sign below. We don't have to fill out any forms at the interview.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Hi. Came in to share the news. I received my visa today! The visa was issued yesterday and it was delivered this morning at 5.50am. I paid extra to get it delivered before 8am but I didn't expect it to be delivered so early.

Thanks to everyone's feedback here. It encouraged me a lot.
Good luck to everyone on your interviews. smile.gif

Yes, it does certainly feel very good!!!!

I tempted fate a little bit.... I handed my notice in at work 2 weeks ago. Last day is on 20th April and i'm flying out on April 30th biggrin.gif

What date are you leaving?
ladyynara
Eep, I'm getting nervous! Interview in 2 days. I'm not worried about the actual being approved part, we've been married 10 years, had a green card before, never lived apart and have two kids so I'm pretty sure they will believe we have a legitimate relationship! I am mainly nervous about any delays with the visa, we have to be out of our rented house next weekend (not our choice) and don't want to hang around in a hotel for too long as it'll be expensive and a nightmare with two small children. The fact we can't book our flights until I have it is driving me nuts!
Jeraly
Ahh - sounds very annoying! I am sure you will be fine smile.gif

I can relate to wanting my visa soon - I am not moving until June 30th but I just want to know that it is out of the way and that I don't have anything else to worry about for a whole short of POE which should be fine as I will have Jeremy with me smile.gif

I am going to be nervous and sad and apprehensive but I am sooo looking forward to starting my new life - I just feel like my life is on hold at the moment and I want things to settle down.

Debz is on her way to Nebraska now! I am so jealous/nervous/excited!! >.<

I hope she has a very uneventful travel experience...I know she's nervous...but she'll do fine!!!

We've been accepted! kicking.gif I had my interview this morning at 9am. The whole thing only took about an hour, a lot less time than I was expecting. smile.gif A nice man took care of the documents, and then a very friendly lady asked me the interview questions. The questions were identical to those already described on this thread, so I won't repeat them. Just standard stuff about how and when we met.

Thank you all for your help! Although Sandi and I are somewhat silent members of VJ, we have benefited greatly from all the discussions between the 'regulars' wink.gif

I know she won't see this until after her interview on Friday, but good luck vibes to babblesgirl for Friday smile.gif

Good luck to everyone with interviews still to come!

Aly, I still sometimes can't believe that Griff and I are actually married! It has seriously been wonderful thus far! I can honestly say I have never been happier. My life is now complete.

I feel bad that you and Jeremy have to be apart for now (thank you CSC!) but hopefully the time will pass quickly. I know when we were waiting it felt like an eternity, but since we're together it feels like we were never apart. It just faded into oblivion, so I hope that will happen for you too!

I keep forgetting to tell you that I checked out your wedding pics, and I must say you looked lovely! What a beautiful setting for the wedding too. Looks like you had picture perfect weather and that a good time was had by all! Someday I might even put up a few of our wedding pics, my prob is that I almost exclusively post from work (a big no-no) whistling.gif so hopefully someday soon!
Jeraly
Hahah - yeah - we were really lucky with the weather - it was in the 70s which was great as there had been two inches of snow the week before!!! Just a few miles up the road was a foot of snow so all in all we got really lucky. I am sure if we had had snow it would have been beautiful as well but we would have gotten cold!!!

I am pretty certain we will fall into wedded bliss of nagging and moaning at each other laughing.gif Does it still feel weird to have Griff around all the time? How is he settling in? I really hope time passes quickly - I gues I just have to work hard and keep busy and keep focussed on the goal smile.gif
