Poor guy still doesn't have a name. In our house, it's a toss up between Romeo and Beau (we liked Rugby but the girls didn't). Had to be a name fitting for a stocky, male dog who's calm, quiet, and gentle. We don't want to do the "opposites" thing... (for example, our last yellow lab was named Bosco. I liked Guiness too, but David vetoed that one. "Has to be a brown dog with some white," he said. Sigh.)

I always wait until a name just comes to me for a pet. Usually something linked with the animal's character.

Yeah, right.... I called the animal control officer, who was so generous in bending the rules, to let him know how things were going and he tried to sell me on number 4.... uh, don't think so.
Some great ideas in this thread that we hadn't thought of..... I'm writing them down.....

- Tramp (rather obvious where I pilfered that one)
- Snoopy
- Odie

Good luck! I hope you pick one that could be a human's name. I've always had a problem with the idea of naming an animal something undignified; once you love the dog, you can't imagine calling it something ridiculous. A lot of the cliche dog names have the same effect. Why give it a name a million dogs have? (Yup, this coming from someone with a cat named "Ollie," like about 20 million other American cats.)

Ok, so it seems that the family has taken to calling him "Beau", so I'm thinking that this is going to be his name. The question now is "Beauregard", or "Mr. Beau-Jangles"?
