completed the case around august. I was reading somewhere it says that its taking 8- 9 months to get an interview date after case completion by nvc in lagos for 1-130. Does anyone know if this is correct? Its been so long. i was i did not seek the advise of a laywer who told us that the processing time are the same with fiance vs spousal. thanks for any respond.

In some cases it takes that long, but the average time for the consulate in Nigeria is around 3-4 months.

Good Luck! The process for K-1 is supposed to be faster, but recently K-1 has been rather slow. It's speeding up now though. NVC takes a while, check the guides up above, because James has some shortcuts that they say helps cut down on some of the time at NVC. It may give you some ideas depending how far along you are in waiting at NVC.

The 3-4 months wait for an interview in Lagos does not apply to CR1 visas which is what I believe you are applying for based on what you said "...get an interview date after case completion by nvc in lagos for I-130" If the NVC is completing your I-130 you are going to be waiting for the NVC to schedule the interview in Lagos for a CR1 visa not a K3 visa.. unless your I-129F is still pending at the service center... gets approved... forwarded to the NVC and onto the embassy.. that wait may also be 3 months (roughly). If this is the case, and your K3 gets to the embassy first, they will give you an interview date for a K3 fairly quick and when the CR1 paperwork gets to the embassy your K3 will be kicked and the CR1 interview will replace the K3's scheduled date. If your I-129F is still pending at the service center and your I-130 has already been completed at the NVC level, based on recent trends, your I-129F will never leave the service center and you will get a CR1 interview date possibly 7-10 months in the future (closer to 8, at least that's what it seems to me). If your case was completed at the NVC around August, the James shortcuts are of no use to you anymore. You will get a letter (or the choice of agent and the beneficiary) from the NVC approx. one month prior to the interview date. Hang in there you should expect to hear something by early spring. Till then, sit tight, collect your documents for the interview and enjoy having full control of the remote.

It is pretty well known by now in VJ that fiance visas are the faster method through the Lagos embassy. On average (there are always exceptions) the fastest way to be reunited is a fiance visa. The K3 visa is a bit slower by a few months and the CR1 takes the longest. It's not as bad as it sounds, the CR1 is really the best visa in terms of how much money is spent and paperwork done once the spouse comes to america. The K3ers have to adjust their status and apply for EAD and a SS# once they get here which is expensive and frustrating. I'm not sure what the K1's have to do but I know it's also complex and expensive.
