Buenas..

So my husband and i just got married in El Salvador. I wasnt officially a resident there but we decided to go for it and ask, even though the website does state that its necessary you are a resident... They agreed to take our petition there! So exciting.
I am now five months pregnant, just got back to the states and am waiting and wondering what is going on with this whole thing... hearing it can be a fairly quick process filing this way we have our hopes that he will be here before the birth of his son... However, we are a bit confused as to what all this process intails as it seems to be taking longer than we thought, or hoped... the guy said he would call us back within a few weeks to give my husband a number. When he gets this number will he also be scheduled for his interview? Is there anyone out there who has any idea of how long he may have to wait for his interview?

Also wondering what people are thinking about the whole immigration stuff that is going on right now? This guy at the embassy told my husband that because of this he will have to wait and it may be more difficult! That seems so unfair sad.gif

Also wondering why there isnt any priorities set for people who are expecting a baby! I can't believe that. My sister went through her whole pregnancy and birth without the father. Only because the process takes so long. I can't believe they dont consider this important! It is an incredible time of bonding and so important that the father be there. Anyone experience this? Anyone want to do something about it? Anyone know of anything to do about it?

Well, you now the old saying.. Lack of planning on your part is no cause for an emergency on my part... smile.gif It sounds like the consulate already gave you quite a generous consideration by accepting your I-130, so way to go!

I don't think that anything going on with the immigration discussion in the US will slow you down. No new laws have been passed and probably won't before you're done, so don't fret on that.

I do encourage you to find a contact at the Consulate. I have no idea of their timelines, but it really shouldn't be more than a few months. I realize that those are the crucial few months *to you* so you just need to get a contact thre who can keep you up to date. That, and get every last document you'll need for the interview ready. Your jobs now are to be prepared for an interview the moment you hear from them.
Police check, I-864 etc are all things you can get ready now. Make sure his passport is up to date and he has what he needs to move/travel. If he can get vax done at a discount, he can get some of those done before the immigration medical.

If it has been +3 weeks since you submitted your I-130, I'd certainly get on the horn or email (maybe even fax) and put a bug in their ear. Remind them that you're expecting and say that you're hoping to get an interview by X date & is that possible? C'mon, make nice with them, they're people too! smile.gif I bet they'll be eager to accomodate you as best they can.
