Passport is stamped with I-551 stamp, making passport a temp green-card, a few weeks or a month or so, later the card arrives in the mail.

Immigration told us that it would take 4-8 weeks. After the 4th week I started calling every week for status and then by the 7th week we got both, the Welcome to America letter and the green card. The number to call is the USCIS customer service 800#.
