Like many other new people here, my husband and I have been looking at this website, but only recently been posting.
I am the American who fell in love with a man from Spain about 2 years ago, although we have known each other for about 4 years. (Mutual friends finally convinced me that maybe I should give him a chance.. hahaha!) After some travels back and forth between the USA and Spain, we felt we met the person we wanted to spend forever with. We recently got married (November 2007) here in West Virginia where I am working (and he is studying).
We are right at the beginning of the immigration process... waiting for verification from USCIS that they have received our huge packet of information (I-485, I-130, etc, etc). This is a very nerve-wrecking time, since his I-94 has expired and all we can do is wait. We read the government websites, and they are rather discouraging when they talk about the length of time it takes to get everything done!
Looking back on just the simple filing, I wish I had found this site a lot sooner. We did a lot of our papers based on what a friend was telling us (she and her husband are both European who are now in the USA), but the complete lists here are something I really regret not having!
Last, but not least, just wanted to say good luck to everyone who is waiting to be with that special person and Congrats! to all of you who have made it through this emotional decathlon!
