Hello Saratara!
Serbian girl here!

I am still in Serbia but I know that it will be the same for me soon.
I have a lot god friends here and it is wery hard for me leave everything, but on the other side I can live without my love.

saratara... look for people from your country (that is if you want friends from your country). i'm sure there are groups, clubs, restaurants, and cafes that cater to serbian people! queens (like around astoria at 30th avenue area) most definitely. or look up people in myspace or some kind of group internet that can help you find friends. its worked for me before! good luck!

I have been here for 3 1/2 years and I still feel lonely a big part of the time.
I miss my two sons and my many many friends back in Canada a whole lot. I have not been able to make any really good friendships here, except with a couple of my co-workers.
Thankfully, I only live 3 hours from my family and friends, and am able to visit once in a while.

hiiiiiiii
i live in brooklyn too! what part are you from? i currently live in boerum hill (very close to park slope), but grew up in bensonhurst...my fiance is albanian, but hes not here yet...someone in an earlier post mentioned astoria, which is a great place if you are looking for other people from your general region (albania, greece, serbia, bosnia)...also there are some areas in the bronx, by pelham pkwy where i know there is A LOT of albanians, not sure if you can relate to them at all =/
i worry that when my fiance comes here he will be feeling the same way that you currently are...but remember that you cant force it, adjustment will come naturally with time and also remember that you are very lucky to be living in new york city...if you were living in iowa, the chances of finding anyone from your home country would be very slim...in new york we have it all!!!
anyway, i hope youre feeling better, but again, it does take time...hang in there and i promise that it will get much easier!!
