Hello Everyone,

I am in the early stages of planning a trip to Egypt for next year. Can anyone assist with giving me some tips on where to stay, must see places, where the best shopping is, etc.

Thanks for anyone’s help in advance

I like to use www.tripadvisor.com for planning trips. I think all of the ladies have given you good tips here for your trip, basically what I would have said as well. Too, King Tut is now on display in Luxor so if you can visit the VOTK, I'd do that! I told my husband I wanted to see Tut before we left Egypt. I hope we can.

I dont know where you are flying from...but I take Egypt Air out of New York (Jet Blue to NY). Its non stop and is great service. I"ve had only great flights with them. The seats are a bit larger and Im a larger gal. Their SEATBELTS fit me...I GOTTA LOVE THAT. LOL. Anyways...I've stayed in the Phaorahs Hotel in Dokki for about $25.00 a night...but fell in love with the Maadi Hotel in Maadi. Its about $70 a night but the rooms are larger, you get FREE local phone calls, net service in some rooms and the lobby is big and comfy for meeting.

I'd recommend Al Hossain Mosque and the shopping in that area. Its amazing at night. The pyramids...they have a wonderful horse and cart ride to see them...but be careful they will tip you to DEATH. Pics with camals, tip em, ride on camal? Tip them. Want more info from the guide..tip tip tip...lol. But its awesome... I'd recommend going with your SO or egyptian friend to a Shisha Bar in the evening...its such a wonderful smell and make sure you go by the nile around Dokki...they have the most romantic horse and cart rides by the nile...along the nile there is many many nice restaurants...and the egyptian museum is cool.

If you go, take bug spray, and if you go in Jan-March, take something warm for night...they dont use heat most of the time (although maadi hotel did).

I hope this helps...

I will be taking Delta, they're starting a direct flight from JFK to CAI in June, and well since i work for them it will be very economical. No, i dont plan on going in June. I heard it was hotter than hell in the summer time.

Yes i know about the old tipping scam - ive been to Morocco a couple times and there big on tipping and crazy about camel rides - one guy wanted $20 for a 5 min camel ride. Needless to say i didnt ride the camel.
