Quick question, better to mail or return packet 3 in person?

My fiancee called the consulate and we found out they had mailed the packet 3 way back on November 7, but she never received it. A whole month wasted!...oh well, water under the bridge I suppose...smile.gif

Anyway, she is going to pick it up at the information booth tomorrow...I'm thinking its faster to return it in person, is that allowed?

You are allowed to return packet 3 in person. It is faster and there's less risk of it getting lost.

The minute they emailed me to let me know that Packet 3 was mailed out (11/17), I had my fiancee went in-person to submit the required document from Packet 3 (11/20). To this day Packet 3 is no where to be seen from them. Yesterday they called my fiancee to let her know the interview date (01/09/2008)and said that Packet 4 was sent out. They also said if she doesn't receive Packet 4 by 12/28 then to come in and pick it up. Again, I've asked my fiancee to not wait and just go in to pick it up yesterday. They told her to come back the next day during 1pm-3pm. I say don't wait for it to come in the mail. As you can see, that's at least 3 weeks wasted.

If you can get stuff done in person, you will save time. You could potentially save a month just due to the slow mail times, IF they let you do it.

They would NOT let my fiance turn it in by hand and told her to mail it to them. They also would not let her pick it up and told her to wait (3 and 4) they both ended up showing up.

My wife successfully turned her packet 3 info in by hand at the consulate. I think it is definitely worth trying.

Same here. Packet 3 was mailed out on Oct 26 and was never rec'd. I found out a month later by calling them and was told to pick up in person mad.gif . Good thing her relative lives in Sai Gon, so was able to pick it up for her and mailed to her residence in Hue. What's wrong with the mail lately from this Embassy mad.gif

The mail sometimes is wrong but not always, so many complaints about the mail from Consulate here. It meant they lied you.

My house was in Phunhuan Dist, it's very easy for the mail comes. But when I came to the Coonsulate to check. They said to me that they just sent that moring out. However, I received the mail after 3 weeks. Do you think that the mail goes around the HCMC within 3 weeks???

The date of the invitation letter I received was later 1 week from the date I came to Consulate to check with them.

It's sad that they told us it was sent and here we are just sitting around and waiting while it's still sitting inside HCMC. I agree, it does not take more than a week for mail to travel, especially within the same city. That's so wrong.

This is what we did we had to go pick it up but they only gave her DS230 part 1 when she picked it up in person. So make sure they give you everything or find it and print it online then mail it with DHL . You should receive a email from them. That will tell you they have received Ds230.

Just an update. My fiancee was not able to pick up Packet 4 in person. They said to wait for it in the mail and if it doesn't come in 2 weeks then she can come in to pick it up. The lady said it has not been mail out yet. I don't know why they just couldn't give it to her then if that's the case.

My fiancee was able to successfully return the packet 3 in person. I guess it's determined by who is at the window at a particular time.
