  1. Check your case status here https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do Check your processing center estimated adjudication timeline here https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/ If you’re also a K1 filer, you’re most likely at California Service Center which is taking about 13.5 months to process. You won’t hear anything for months and months until your case is approved.
  2. Cases are not updated daily. After your receipt NOA1 you won’t hear anything until it’s approved or issued a RFE. That will be months and months of silence and no date change. Actively Reviewing has no bearing on your case timeline; it just means it was assigned to an officer not necessarily that they’re working on your case. Pay no attention to that status message. Look up case status here https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do Look up estimated processing time per service center here however K1’s go to California so it’s a long wait. Estimated time right now is 13.5 months. https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/ And just a heads up, K1 interviews are backed up at the Consulate. There’s an average wait of about 4 months right now. It can speed up or slow down at any moment. Feel free to join the Morocco specific group at Moroccan Visa Journey
  3. You explained your situation just fine. It’s very typical for Casa to place you in AP either for further review or while processing the issuance of the visa. Did they give your spouse a 221g form, a white approved slip, any details you can share about the interview to provide better feedback. You can sense the direction of the case by the type of questions asked at the interview. Did you address the reason(s) the K1 petition was not approved when applying for the spousal petition? For Casa, having a child is not substantial evidence of a bonafide relationship, specially out of wedlock since that’s not the cultural norm and it’s often used as an immigration tool. Time spent together, living in Morocco, is far more substantial. If the visa is approved then it takes about 1-2 weeks for the consulate to issue the visa. Make sure you completed the CGI & Aramex steps, check the CEAC site for status change, track the passport, etc. Do a Congressional inquiry if you don’t hear anything within in 3 months. Spousal petitions don’t expire like K1. Don’t bother calling or sending emails to the Consulate. They won’t answer or they’ll send an automated message. USCIS and NVC can not help at this point either. Feel free to join the Morocco specific Facebook group Moroccan Visa Journey.
  4. Many of the people commenting are not familiar with the Casa Consulate. This is the most up to date information: 1. Casa schedules their own interviews. They’ll send you an email notifying you of your appointment. You do nothing but wait for the interview email. 2. For K1’s it’s taking 3-4 months to obtain an interview. CR1/IR1 is faster. Many in the Morocco specific visa group are stuck waiting as well so you’re not alone. 3. You can complete the DS-160 now or once you receive the interview email. We say wait because you don’t know how long you’ll be waiting for an interview since in the past it’s taken more than the 3-4 months. Much can happen in between those months and you want the information to be up to date. You do not need to submit the DS-160 to get an interview. As long as you have the Ready status you’re on track. 4. If you go over the application time limit, Casa automatically waives that expiration and continues in with the interview, so don’t worry about it expiring. 5. We recommend you obtain up to date unexpired police and military record. Casa is unpredictable and each CO has a preference. I wouldn’t risk having an expired document and get placed in AP. Instead be overly prepared and have it. 6. Attached is a clear checklist of the documents you’ll need. We have samples in our group as well. Moroccan Visa Journey this is the Morocco specific group.
  5. Yes bring any education transcripts he has available. Though education credits don’t always parallel transfer, it varies by entity, school, and employer. Some may choose to get their transcripts evaluated by a reputable source such as NACES but you might want to wait because his employer might refer him to their own evaluators or accept his degree at face value. For example our local County requests transcripts and must be evaluated by their approved vendors. Whereas a non government facility accepted the Certificate without the transcript. At our local Community College they didn’t accept his Moroccan bachelor’s and had him enroll in the HS diploma program; he didn’t need ESL and tested college level Math & English. He decided to enroll in a certificate program instead of a degree program through the same CC and is studying to get licensed through the state.
