  • Our Story
JR and I met online in November 2003. In January 2004 I flew to the States to visit him for 4 weeks. Ever since we visited forth and back in Germany and the United States. On October 8, 2005, he asked me to marry him!! :-)) It took a while, but in January 2006 I got a beautiful ring and a couple weeks later, in February, we filed the I-129F.
I got my visa and after a very nice wedding ceremony in Germany I went with him to the US, did all the legal stuff and been happily married ever since.
In October 2008 we welcomed our son Quentis.

  1. I don’t know why my case was in quality review. I guess it just happens sometimes. However, there was an issue with my photo not being on file and I had to have it taken again. Maybe that triggered it. I did change my name, yes.
  2. I had my Oath Ceremony today in Honolulu! since I changed my name, I needed to appear in front of a judge. We were a group of 41 this morning and it was a really nice ceremony. It feels a bit surreal but I’m happy it’s over!
  3. My application was under quality review for a little over a month. I just got my notice for the oath ceremony today. I was told it could take between 3-6 month. I hope, you get good news soon!
  4. Congratulations! Do you know what the holdup was for you? Did you have your approval right away?
  5. Not two months, but two weeks. What does your online status say? I am stuck in "quality review".
  6. The photo that would go onto the naturalization certificate. Typically the one you have taken at the biometrics appointment. I had a photo retaken directly after the interview and she said I would be approved as soon as that loads into my file. My status changed the next day but not to "approved", its now "recommended for approval and under quality review". I hope this wont take the 3-6 months the officer mentioned but I wonder if she knew this would happen. I'll update as soon as I hear something.
  7. I had my N-400 interview last week in the Honolulu office. Things went well until the end when the officer couldn't load up my photo. I had received a letter that my biometrics from the previous year would be used and my fingerprints were fine, but no photo. She said it wasn't a big deal, I had my photo retaken right after the interview and she said I'd be approved as soon as the photo was added to my file. Alas, my online status changed the next day, but not to "approved", it states my case was recommended for approval and is now in "quality review". From reading here, this seems to not be totally out of the ordinary but timeframes seem to vary wildly. I am a bit antsy because I need this approval asap for my husbands job offer, that requires me to be a US citizen as well. If your case was put under quality review, how long did it take to get resolved and your application was approved?
  8. I got my photo taken immediately after my interview in the same USCIS office. They already have it. My case status says “approval pending quality review”. My husbands potential new job requires me to have US Citizenship, it’s not just me traveling. I know I can do that with my current passport and greencard.
  9. I had my interview on Tuesday and I’m a bit upset, to be honest. Everything went well overall, I passed the testing portion, we documented my intended name change, went through the entire application. Towards the end, the officer suddenly told me that I didn’t have a current photo on file, mind you, I had done biometrics last year for my greencard renewal and had the letter stating that I didn’t need biometrics done. She agreed, but nevertheless, no photo. She told me to go get that done right after we were done, she’d then recommend my file for approval and we could schedule the oath ceremony then. I asked how long she thinks this may take and she said 3-6 months! Like, whaaat??? We are moving out of state (and possible overseas) over the summer, so I’ll also need my passport asap. she told me to wait for a letter that says I’m approved and to then email them and they’ll schedule me asap. It just so happens that my husband (retiring out of the military next month) got a job offer overseas and they want him to start asap. Now I wonder how long I should wait or if I should just email soon and ask to help me out with the scheduling. I don’t understand what would take that long, uploading that photo or the name change? Typically, their office does oath ceremony the same day as interview. What do you guys think?

  11. Yay, that's awesome! Congratulations! I woke up to an email from USCIS. My interview is scheduled for March 15!!
  12. Fiancée arrived on a K1 and besides acting absolutely crazy, treating him as her personal ATM, she made it perfectly clear that she wasn’t in to him and needed him for the green card. Poor guy let her run all over him and had excuses for everything. It went on and on for weeks and months. I think they finally went their separate ways but she really put him through the ringer. It was tragic.
  13. I can’t find it. I’m assuming it got deleted? I think it was posted 2009-ish. The member’s name is Mcat891.
